Leadership - Morale let's you attack twice and the enemy cannot stop you
Luck - With this and morale your army can be counted as four the size in terms of damage output, ifyou are supported by a few artifacts.
Attack
Defense
Wisdom
Earth/Fire Magic
Logistics
Intelligence

This is kind of my favourite skills, may change them depending on if I make a mage or a might hero.

It depends, like everything else in the game. It depends on the heri class. also, it's stupid to claim that you like Tactics when you're playing with a Druid, because he has verry little chances to get this skill.

You must chose the skills that helps you most and are accesible.

I ussually play Stronghold, hero class Barbarian. This are the skills I recommend:

1) Offense (all Barbarians start with it, and a 30% damage boost is excelent for such an offensive town).
2) Tactics (this allows your slow troops to reach the eney as fats as possible).
3) Leadership (a few double attacks per round are verry useful for anyone, but for the Barbarians this skill is vital).
4) Archery (verry good if you get it, casue yout archers will deal 50% more damage!!).
5) Air Magic (Mass Haste will allow you to reach the enemy earlier and, more important, to kill him before he can deal big damage to your vulnerable soldiers).
6) Resistance (this allows some of your stacks resist a Mass spell, like Mass Slow).
The other two skils are to your liking: Luck, Earth Magic, armorer etc.

Thats correct. This is the ultimate barbarian hero

When playing with other heroes, I useally use 8 of 10 favorites, it depends on what I get my hands on first.

1.Wisdom (Only fools don't choose wisdom)
2.Logistic (Of course...)
3.Earth Magic (Can't ignore earth magic, Slow, Shield, Stone Skin, Meteor Shower, Sorrow and Implosion)
4.Fire Magic (Only because of Berserk. Ekspert Berserk kick ass! Curse and bloodlust also good)
5.Pathfinding (I hate that freaking swamp without this skill)
6.Offense (Like Zamfir mention)
7.Armory (Bether armor)
8.Archery (Like Zamfir mention)
9.Air Magic (Haste give an early advantage, Air shield is rather good)
10.Water Magic (Cure, very usefull. Bless kicks ass)

Pick whenever possible: Wisdom, Earth
Very good: Air, Logistics, Tactics
Good: Water (esp. if no Air), Attack, Armorer, Archery
Not bad but too unpredictable: Leadership, Luck, Resistance
Situational: Pathfinding, Ballistics
Good for some types of secondary heroes: Estates (for collectors or delivery guys), Artillery (for garrison heroes), Fire, Intelligence, Sorcery (for garrisoned mages), Scholar (spell transfer between more useful heroes)
Always avoid: Navigation, Mysticism, Scouting, Eagle Eye

Man !!!!
Always avoid scouting ?

I am not a good player, but scouting is a very important skill for secondary heroes that reveal the map. Navigation is quite important for them too.

exactly. scouting is for SECONDARY heroes.

@angelito: I think what I played wasn't HoMM III either =.=
A quarter... or maybe half of those skills listed I would not pick if my life depended on it.

Always avoid navigation? No, no, no. Navigation is crucial in some maps. Put it under situational.

You forgot Learning in "Always Avoid" as well.

If you gets Berserk at mage guild level 4, then I strongly suggest you to have Fire magic as soon as possible.

and why is mysticism always avoid?
There are maps where you can't survive without mysticism. XL maps without magic wells and springs etc. Definitely need mysticism. Unless you can find mana recov arties.

My Barbarian:

Offense
Armorer
Logistics
Earth
Air

3 out of these:
Water - if I can get it in Scholar or witch hut.
Luck - Double damage with Barbarians are nice, but it can be covered by artifacts.
Pathfinding - If rough terrain dominates much of the map
Archery - Nice skill for Stronghold/Barbarians.

You will risk to get scholar? Because you cant know what the scholar will give you.

Me personaly, i never get scholars with main. Its just not worth the risk.

About otheres - tactics is essential! its probably even more important than armorer!

Exactly. 1 wrong skill ruins your game. Or at least make it slower. To get expert slow 3 levels later is not the thing you want.

That's for single scenarios when I can load if I get something useless. I'm not picking up a scholar with my main hero when playing other human players. Not a chance.
