Lol, I wish people would stop making me feel Old. I listen to half the things (if not more) that your parents do. *pulls out his walker and starts shaking his fist* "Get off my lawn dabnabit, you lousy kids"

This thread makes me feel old when some of the people's parents listen to newer music than I do. But then I'm sure I'm older than a lot of member's parents.

Oh yeah, that's nothing. I listen to Dvorak and my dad listens to Mozart, so we should be like, mummified or something.

Mozart is amazing. His music is true genious in every way. Chopan, Brahn, Boch...not enough people enjoy the classics. Give me Ride of the Valkarie (spelling) any day over things like "Achy Breaky Heart".

Father's Musical choice: 100% Classical music, and of all composers, he clearly prefers Beethoven and Wagner to all other (though he listens to all kinds).
Mom's choice is a lot more varied: Aside from the typical Pop Music that everybody likes (Beatles, Cher, Michael Jackson, Eurythmics, Beyonce, Nelly Furtado, the Doors, Queen, etc...), she has a weakness for Latin Songs. The last days she's been driving me nuts by incessantly playing Daddy Yankee songs.

I have no idea what they listened to in the 80s and early 90s.
All songs I've heard suck. Elvis? It was the most stupid thing I had ever heard in my entire life. The Beatles? Are they making "Smurf Hits" covers? -.-
Michael Jackson? "King of Pop" - seriously? Lame songs from a Zombie.

No accounting for taste.
Honestly my taste is very varied. I can listen to, and enjoy, "Flight of the bumblebee" one minute and "Enter Sandman" the next and enjoy it just as much. From a harp solo to something like Pantera..every genre has at least one song I truely enjoy. Even Rap.
A music's 'genre' should not dictate if a song is good or not. You can miss out on some good music if you decide before you try.

Seriously, this is the typical kind of response I think we've all come to expect from you. You're 14 or so and it's disappointing to hear things like this. In fact, I've never heard of a single person saying The Beatles are bad. I'd like to see what you'd say when you've matured a bit.

What? So just because the Skalbaggar/Beetles where popular like 40-50 years ago you cant direct critism agaisn't them? Yes, I do think the Beatles and Elvis sounds like "Smurf Hits 2009!" - just like Alexander Rybak in Norway.
Elvis drugged and ate himself to death anyway in the end.

You're 14 years old mate. I'd be good if you could look at these older songs with a bit more of an open mind and a bit more maturity.

a) The guitarist who performed that has serious skill. I am truly awed.

@Will
I grew up with the Beatles and really like them. But they really ARE kind of smurfy in alot of ways.
Maybe it was part of the 60s rebellion, but there is no way we would have listened to the music of our parents the way younger people do now. To be honest, it kind of amazes me that someone your age even knows who the Beatles are. When I was your age there is no way I would have known anything about music that much before my time. There was current music from my time, and everything before that sucked. And that was the dominant view, not just mine.
