Save the whales
With some Hollywood celebrities being charged with protesting against whaling over in Japan (the invincible cheerleader on Heroes was one of the protesters) and Japan's whalers going after extinct species for what they call 'scientific research', I thought I would do my bit and sign this petition to help the plight of the whales. I hope you could all take some time and do the same.

I won't sign it eventhough it's not a good thing to do... You want to know why? Did you see the game they have on the website?? You sink "japanese" whaling boats with the military flag of the country and then you see little people with freaking chinahats falling out of the boat... yeah thats REALLY japanese. If you don't like something yes change it but discrimination is NOT an option no matter how much you don't like it.

Seeing the Japanese war flags I got the WW2 impression... Whales going around sinking Japanese warships...

Well the game is utter bull***, but I doubt the makers had a "racial" motivation to discriminate the Chinese people... They are just stick-figure caricatures of humans! They could resemble anyone...
The boats do look like the fishing boats, except for the odd flag... Anyhow, the point is hardly in the game, and I really doubt they had a hidden agenda against the Chinese... but I may be wrong. However, they are utterly childish discriminators if that was actually meant to be taken as an insult.

Minion it's Japanese not Chinese. Don't make this mistake infront of a chinese or japanese person they really don't like being mixed up. And yes there is a BIG diffrence (also in apperance) between japanese,chinese,koreans,etc.

Hmmm whales are just as useless creatures as elephants are, the only reason that I signed this petition is that they are somewhat needed to keep an ecological balance in the waters.
Now if there was a petition to rid the world of elephants I would have signed that too

It might indirectly put some presure on them and the whaling commission both simply by raising awareness. People/nations are more likely to do something controversial if they think no one is watching.
Also, I'm willing to bet that Greenpeace has gotten a lot of new members from this. I went to Greenpeace to check about the legitimacy of Whalesrevenge and ended up joining myself.

Thinking about it though i think its terrible if the whales get exctinct but. Theres really no value to them as such except for the fact that whales wouldnt exist. Theyd be gone but apart from that the world would be relatively unchanged.
One of those things people argue for on principle without even caring if it matters in the end if it happens or not.

I'm sure there are all kinds of ecological reasons why they should exist.
Beside that, they are just cool. And that's reason enough to keep them around. Would you want to live in a world that didn't have things of beauty? Beauty has "value", so yea the whales do have value.

Royalgriffin whales are part of an ecosystem, like every animal.
Besides, humans as a race have a moral obligation to try to conserve species, or by the very least not be the cause of extinction.

Sorry, but you misunderstood me completely. I am fully aware that they are supposed to represent the Japanese, I was only addressing them as Chinese because you implied that they are in fact Chinese people falling off the boat. That is how I understood because you talked about DISCRIMINATION. But now I see that you were only upset about the Japanese being mixed with the Chinese.
Here is the deal. I don't believe the STICK-FIGURES should be given as much emphasis as you do. You are making a mountain out of mole hill. I don't believe they were even meant to look like Chinese in the first place, just people. If you ask me the things falling out of the boat resemble more mushrooms than Chinese people.
Or then again I am yet not understanding your reasons... especially the discrimination part.

What he's saying is the people falling out of the boats are wearing straw hats typical of Chinese people, which outlines the ignorance of the website in their stereotypical misrepresentation of a people coupled with the fact that it is stereotypical of a people that aren't Japanese.
That'd be like drawing black people with afros and fried chicken... in a discussion of Indians.
And the Japanese Rising Sun, something entirely unrelated to the matter at hand but negative all the same, makes it obvious that the derogatory depiction of the Japanese in the game is fuelled by a dislike that runs deeper than the issue at hand (whaling).
So the flag is just the icing on the cake..
