could be in the _(Model), could be in Characters. i would say it is probably in Charecters/Creatures/Haven. somewhere there.

Found it. Sorry Wulfstan, but it wasn't in either. Truth is, it was hidden pretty deep in the data.pak. Followed GameMechanics and eventually got it though

Another question.  Sorry, I know these are pretty basic relative to some of the other stuff in this thread.

I've run into a problem where my user generated maps always create corrupted savegame files.  While the map sets up normally, If I save immediately and reload I crash.  This does not happen with maps that came with the game or maps I generate from the in-game generator.

I know there's not a lot of information to go on there, but here's what I've done to the map:  
Improved some heroes adding skills and artifacts.  
Added several cities (total of 12 on an "impossible" map).
Changed resource distributions and some paths.
Set up the AI in teams against me.

Do any of those things sound likely to be generating this error?

Perhaps AI?  I'm not really sure.  I would suggest starting a new one and then doing each of those individualy, and saving.  If one causes it to crash, then don't do that again.

Ok I wanna create a personal mod for some balance issues in the game ToTE.I want to put the deadly strike ability of the death knight to the spectral dragon and incorporal aboility to ghost dragon and change the cost of the dragon vault and the requirements.

But can anyone tell me how?

Right will someone please tell me how to CHANGE A MODEL i.e.:
I'm in the editor and all I want to do is say change the Peasant's model to the Paladin. If I try to do this in the shared properties, it does nothing - this applies to both HoF and vanilla editors. Creating raw files in the data folder causes the model to change, but only in the vanilla editor. The HoF editor will not change! It's driving me insane... The whole lot works as expected for e.g. changing textures, but the model will not change.

@GM: You might be editing the model itself.  You should only use one click in the shared properties.  Click model and scroll down to the Paladin there.  If you edit the geometry the whole thing gets messed up.  Textures and geometries are seperate.

I see, in the CreatureVisual file it still has the DamageEffect Flesh and Blood try Necro hits or something

Not entirely sure, but I believe he means that his creature's model doesn't show up in-game.  At all.  Sorry Daystar, can't exactly help you without more detail.  Maybe make your current mod available via an upload?

Yeah, I will.  Is it vital that it is a new creature?  I wanted to test it so I just replaced Blade Dancer.  I'll upload the file, 'ang on...

This is the file, but I didn't include animations and stuff because there are so many and I'm not sure where they are.  If the problem is just with what's in 'ere could you tell me?

Nothing changes because game still uses original files since your are broken.

In BladeJuggler_.(Character).xdb there are file paths without extensions (1234.xdb)

Moreover, I can't see AnimSet file specified there, but that's not the point.

I want to create some kind of text box when a prison is opened releasing a hero (advancing the story, etc.)  What is the easiest way to do this?

You can take a look on the map making thread in CH (p. 3) You can also learn map tricks from

Regarding the icons, if the resolution in ToTE is switched to anything above 1024x840, all the icons from the original game become blurry. However, the icons from HoF (so Fortress creatures) and ToTE (so Stronghold creatures and all alternative upgrades) maintain their image sharpness. The question is why? Does it have something to do with the fact that the old creatures have four icons specified? So can I fix this by just going to Creature Visual and deleting all this citations to the small icons?

Open data/data.pak with WinRar or 7zip archiver and extract files you need.
