Did you go there via the Open Resource Tab or the Game Database Window? I recall don't use Open Resource, use the Game Database Window.

That's when a Tutorial becomes handy. Sigh, right click and select New Object and place the persons you want to use, use the Key "E" to make Cameras then combine them using the "T" button when that's ready press the space bar to choose who will say something and you can type in how long it takes and everything, this is all you need to make a basic DialogScne, but this feature isn't hidden for nothing it's still a bit buggy so don't get annoyed and don't give up. I'll start working on the full Tutorial asap.

On the right you'll see the object bar just like when you're creating a Map.

I closed that window. Now I'm trying to open it by the View toolbar, but no luck.

As I said this is still a bit buggy the best way is to go back to your map and reopen your DialogScene when you got it back.

I find out how to rotate, but that isn't the problem. I have problems with cameras. I try to make a camera, but in the dialog box, I can't find it. So I can't center my camera to the character that is talking.

The box that opens when you press space does not use the Cameras from the E key, but the combined ones from the T key.

And one more:
I can't make a camera which shows the character that is speaking. It always goes somewhere way far.

To add music just go to View - Selection Property Window and load your music at the music tab. If it does not give the right properties go to our beloved Game Database Window, unselect your cutscene and reselect it don't double click.
To getthe right camera position go to the desired place and then press E and create a new Camera without assinging it to and actor. Now you know everything to make a basic DialogScene if you want to add Animations and Effects please wait for my Tutorial.

Quote: The first step is to open the dialog, hence my question. Since you didn't answer, I'll ask again: did you open a DialogScene yet?
This means:
- open your map editor
- Select Resource > Open Resource
- Select DialogScene in the drop box on top
- choos a dialog scene to open
To have the "Resource" item in the menu, you should first have edited your editor.cfg in H5_INSTALL/profiles: replace
setvar map_editor_mode = 1
by
setvar map_editor_mode = 9
Did you do that already?
Thanks sf, just what I was looking for! May I ask, what the other 7+ modes do? Not in a position to test right now. I seems weird that they hid all this up...

I didn't test much myself lately, but there might not be more than 2 edition levels. I put 9 there just in case.

I am having a problem with Dialog Scenes.
1) First I create a Dialog scene and can edit and play it fine.
2) I create a second dialog scene with a new object name and file name.
3) After I close the map I can no longer view or edit my first dialog scene. Its not in the list but my second one is there. I can still play the first dialog scene but I can't edit or view it anymore in the editor.

That's because the dialog scene editor is kind of buggy, maybe that's why they didn't reveal it. Luckily there is a trick Go to the Heroes folder/Editor/UserData.xml and replace one of the Recent Resources for: DialogScene:/DialogScenes/<Insert Subfolders here>/DialogScene.xdb#xpointer(/DialogScene) and then in the editor go to the resources tab > Recent Resources from there you can get to your scene. The buggy editor takes a little getting used to, but it's still better than nothing.
