As communicated a few weeks ago, the patch 1.5 will be focused on Game Balancing.
We have already given you this first insight of the changes we are going to apply for the patch 1.5:

- Refitting of Core unit health and defense

o Stronger differentiation between might & magic defense of units according to their nature
o Reduction of power for Necropolis units
o Increase of power for Inferno units

- Tweaking of creature growth for some core and elite creatures

- Increase of power for Luck in general, by increasing creature luck values, especially for Inferno
- Increasing interest of abilities that affect might offense, might defense, luck and leadership

- Decrease of power of HEALING spells and abilities (HEAL, MASS HEAL,REGENERATION, MASS REGENERATION, RESURRECTION,LIFE DRAIN, MASS LIFE DRAIN)
- Refitting of healing powers of certain creatures (Haven SISTERS mainly)

- Increase of power for most DIRECT DAMAGE SPELLS, especially ZONE DAMAGE SPELLS (like FIREBALL)
Increase of power for MASS STAND YOUR GROUND ability
- Increase of damage boost for MASS HEROISM ability
- Increase of power for ARCHERY I ability
- Decrease of the Enlightment ability to 20%

- Increase of power and cooldown time for POISON CLOUD spell
- Increase of power for MASS AGONY spell
- Increase of power for WEAKNESS spell


Finally, we decided to add some other major changes, notably much-awaited compatibility of on-line and off-line saves.
To give some details: while playing in offline mode, you’ll be able to create save games. The next time you start the game in online mode, during the boot-up of the game, all offline save games created in the previous offline session will be uploaded as online saves to the Ubisoft servers. So when you open the Load Game menu, you will have access to both your online and offline save games. This change will enable you to get your on-line saves directly on your computer and play off-line.
So, no more stress during servers’ outage or when you don’t have Internet access! The patch 1.5 is expected to be released by mid-July.

While waiting for the release of the patch 1.5, let’s discover another change we are going to implement!

Starting on June 7 and until June 12 assemble all of the puzzle pieces hidden on official and community sites and discover what we’ve tried to hide from you!
As soon as you get it, share it with the whole community and unlock some exclusive content!

If you succeed, I can only tell you that you’ll learn who will be back very soon in Heroes 6 …

The year following the events of Heroes VI, several ships have disappeared in the Savage Sea during sudden and mysterious storms. Yes we understand! The has been a lot of problems with the game , there has been a lot problems with patching due the transition from black hole to limbic. We really understand that angered the fans but we still believe the game has potential. We are now starting to improve what needs to improve in the game. We had some problems at the end of the production because of the budged, but in the end we released the game as good as we could with the resources we had. Its really god that we can release patch 1.5 withe balancing, and online offline save and much much more.
We understand that fans where angry. We now have on person dedicated to balancing the game reading the forums and just changing the numbers. He has also been working with the VIP’s to improve the balance. There is a lot things we would like to improve we have over 100 issues we would like address. We are not going to do them all of them but we are really now working on doing as many of them. We have improved the patching proses, and we now feel the patching progress is now a lot smother. We are no longer in crunche mode but are now more looking at what important stuff can we do to improve the game.

Do you not realize how badly you have turned off the majority of long time Heroes fans by charging an exorbitant amount for this DLC when you haven't even proven you can properly fix this broken game first?
We really wanted to some support and patching before we released content people would have to pay for. Fixing the game is our number 1 priority. We believe the adventure pack is reasonably priced by how much game play the customers are getting and we have keeping to the industry standard on the pricing. We believe you really get a lot form the adventure pack. The prices will of course drop as times goes.

How about giving us this DLC for free as a sign of good will for releasing a product that in essence was no better than a Beta?
There are 15 people working on supporting the game and improving the game and the need to get paid. But we believe the adventure pack is good and people should give it a change. We would also add that patch 1.5 adds a multiplayer maps from adventure pack for free.

Are there any plans of simplifying the map editor at all?
Yes we are! When we were working heroes 6 there were a lot of things we would like to improve, the map editor was one of this but since the end of development was as it was we sadly did not have the time. One thing to know about the map editor, the map editor is a very powerful tool. The main issue there is a huge gap between the hardcore map makers and the casual map makers. We are now trying to make map editor more rewarding and pleasing to use. We are no really working on this but it will still be a complex tool. This will be on the main topics we will be working on the next 3-4 months.

what was the primary motivator to make weapon artifacts tie directly into the dynasty system?
There was to obvious choices for that we wanted something that was power full and was part of the game. And we wanted something to highly visual in the 3d modules. That was why add dynasty pets also for heros 6.1 question made by znork

if you were going to make another heroes game in the future, what types of things did you learn from h6 that you would apply to it?
Try not to release an unfinished game! We could have long list, but we will try to get a more global answer. Era of control worked very god. The reputation system did not work so well. The skill sytem was not good enough and we would like to improve that. We are very concerned about the quality of conflux and what the service to improve but not removed. We did not get the story part the game was not that good, but we believe the adventure pack will show how much we have improved the story telling. We are talking about resources spell books and things that like that and we are listening to what the community is saying. We believe we lost something making the game to rational. And having town screen right from the start!

Are we ever going to get the free DLC with the Academy faction that Black Hole promised back during the beta ?
We do remember this, and we know this is based on miscommunication. But there is a lot of things going happen, and we have plans.

Used to be that when we clicked on a destination point for our hero to travel, you'd know how many turns it would take to get there. Got plans to put that back in?

Petition to Ubisoft and Limbic

We’re preparing a petition to Ubisoft and Limbic for improving the game “Might and Magic: Heroes VI”!

Soon, 12th of July, Ubisoft and Limbic will release patch 1.5 with long-waited townscreens, which we, fans, have asked for! And such, there’s a big chance that proposals (or requests) which are supported by majority of fans, can be taken seriously by devs and be realized for reasons of cheering up fans, improving the game and raising interest to it.

There’re some steps we must cross before sending our petition:
1st: Fans send their suggestions of improving balance, bug fixes and other. The huge list is formed. Moderators remove from this list items that didn’t met the criteria.
2nd: Players sign (technically vote) for each item/paragraph. You must sign with your Uplay account. Items which don’t have support of more than half of players are removed.
3rd: Moderators form the list of most important suggestions taking the vote into account. Then the petition text is send to publisher.

The voice of one man is the voice of no one, as well as ten's voice in our situation. Because of that we ask you to drive our numbers to the max. You can use your Twitter, Facebook or Vkontakte accounts, other social networks and Heroes VI forums.
About suggestions: first of all, they must have logic base and don’t be impossible to realize (remember, there’re 15 people from relatively new team working on Heroes VI). Secondly, try to make them as concrete as you could. For example, don’t suggest making more difference between perks and skills and variants of realization of that because even if that idea will have great support of fans, devs wouldn’t know what we want from them exactly.
“Fix bugs” also is too vague. But “fix ability X so that in situation Y it will work like Z” is more as concrete.

mpressions from the Might and Magic fanday in Warsaw, by Artuchix from Celestial Heavens

Hey, guys! I was one of those lucky to be invited to the Might and Magic fanday in Warsaw, Poland. I did learn couple of interesting things during my visit, perhaps some of them already known from elsewhere but anyway interesting:

• As the Heroes VI producer and Might and Magic creative director Erwan Le Breton explained, the new Might and Magic universe has three cycles – Chaos, Order and Void. First hints about the Void cycle were already in Heroes VI and now we will see more of it.

• In September will be released “The Ashan Compendium” – a book which will describe the world of Ashan in detail. There’s no news so far whether Ubi plans to publish any other M&M books.

• If it wasn’t clearly stated before, the old M&M characters (i.e. Crag Hack) that wind up in Ashan, aren’t necessary the same guys – more like a tribute to the old legacy.

• As you may already know, Ubisoft announced a new card game in the M&M universe - Duel of Champions. It isn’t exactly like Arcomage – you don’t build towers and walls anymore but you try to destroy the enemy leader and bypass his defenders by lots of cards. It’s really fun. One duel lasts approximately 10 minutes, and right now the game is in closed beta stage in Poland. If anyone is interested, I have 10+ keys up for grabs, just contact me via PM. The best thing about Duel of Champions is that it will be cross-platform and basically that’s why the game will have an install client and not being developed as a browser game.

• Clash of Heroes soon will be available on iPad and iPhone. I tried to play it on iPad, was quite easy and addictive though some of the in-game buttons are hard to access.

• Limbic has two guys working on the map editor to make it more user-friendly but it takes time. Julien aka Marzhin has submitted to them a big list of necessary fixes and tweaks, but some of them can’t be done that quick.

• There are a couple more M&M projects being developed or at least in the planning. You will hear more about it at this year’s Gamescom.


Couple of remarks from Erwan le Breton about Heroes VI:

• The skill system in H6 felt too complicated and difficult to overview. It’s a shame because on paper it looked very well.

• The campaign maps perhaps are too big – in future Ubi could concentrate on smaller maps with more events but produce more of them.

• The game interface didn’t work out. Town and skill screens, too small text boxes – all of that has been noted. If there’s going to be a new Heroes game, the magic should feel more “magic”, more specifically relating to the spellbook. Magic guilds could possibly return, and no more mixing skills with spells.

• The reputation system didn’t exactly work out as intended though it was a great idea.

• If there would be a new Heroes game, one thing that would remain for sure is the engine. Area control also proved to be as a good innovation to the Heroes series, and Ubi felt the resource reduction was an OK choice.

• According to Erwan, Heroes VI is a commercial success otherwise there would be no other ongoing M&M projects right now, including the M&M fandays.

• Erwan gave a subtle hint that Heroes VI is not necessarily the last of Heroes. Apart from the Crag Hack DLC there are possible plans for a lot more, which you can probably guess…

There has apparently been a mixup and the adventure pack will not unlock the campaign ingame. Irina has cleared up the misunderstanding.

You've got your keys too early as the Adventure Pack will be released only tonight by 7 pm CET! It will be released along with the patch 1.5 and then everything should work for you!

What are you talking about? I don't understand. I bought this DLC and it won't unlock campaign of Crag Hack? WTF? o_O

It will, later tonight. It was supposed to be released at the same time as the patch, but it was released to early. My understanding being that you need to install before the content will be unlockable.

We will monitor closely how it works and bring changes if needed in the next patches. You can still share your ideas and thoughts with us on the official or community forums as your help is very appreciated by the dev team!

The last and the very awaited change we promised you to bring to Heroes 6 in the patch 1.5 is compatibility of online and offline saves. Unfortunately, this change will not be a part of the patch 1.5 and will be released later on. This last minute change is due to unexpected technical constrains that force us to go back a bit to the drawing board regarding our approach. The plan is to develop this feature as intended but will require a few more weeks of fine tuning before getting a proper release. We are really sorry about that. We are aware that you are eagerly waiting for this update and how important it is for you and we’ll do our best to release it shortly.    

Regarding the latest Uplay update and related issues with users’ saves: saves may have temporarily disappeared from your folder “\Documents\Might & Magic Heroes VI”. The issue is currently under investigation on our side and we are closely monitoring the situation with the Uplay team in order to sort this out as soon as possible. In the meantime and while waiting for the patch 1.5 and the Adventure Pack to be released tonight by 6:30 pm, let’s have a look at the release notes:

“Acid Cloud” Hero Ability display name now replaced “Poison Cloud” Hero Ability.
Acid Cloud Hero Ability is now: Creates a 3x3 cloud of acid which deals <HPdamage> damage (Earth) each turn. Lasts until the end of the combat.
Acid Cloud description in Spell book is now: Conjures a 3x3 cloud of acid which inflicts Earth Damage every turn. Lasts until the end of the battle.
Abyss Gate Hero Ability tooltip is now : Currently acting friendly stack returns to the Abyss, then comes back in reinforced in the next turn. The gate remains on the combat map and can be destroyed. If the gate is destroyed the stack can only return after the combat. Will not increase stacks above their original maximum.
Fog Veil Hero Ability effect tooltip is now: All Creatures affected by Storm Winds are now dealt <HPdamage> damage (Air) and also inflicted by the “Dazed” effect.

Ubi has been made aware of the save issue and they have called limbic back in office to work on it overnight. There should be a hotfix sometime tomorrow.

An update from Celestial Heavens:

Limbic said they had not encountered this bug during their testing, called their guys in and worked through the night to fix it. Running the updater at this point will get you to the "hotfix" version 1.5.1, which is reported to work fine. Old saves from 1.4 will now work, though new saves from the 1.5 version will not. Those are only one day old, though. Kudos to Limbic for the quick fix. I know some developers who would not be so quick...

Hello Heroes,

Since the patch 1.5 and the patch 1.5.1 have been released, we have monitored very closely the official and community channels. Your feedback helped us to investigate several issues including bugs, visual problems, saves issues etc. We would like to thank you again for your detailed reports as it helps the dev team to tackle the most annoying issues and solve them much faster!

We believe that we have a solution for the “black screen” issue. It has been tested on our side and some players have already confirmed that it solved their problem.

“Black screen” solution: it is possible that if you have two graphic cards in your computer (one speedy and another one less powerful), for some strange reasons, the game could have switched to the less powerful one, unless you forced the driver to use the best graphic card available on your computer in the Nvidia control panel.
How to switch to the right graphic card driver?

In the case of laptop machines this is done through the Nvidia driver (it is recommended not to make it a universal setting and use custom settings for each program, in our case Might & Magic Heroes VI.exe). Note that some laptop machines are not equipped with a dedicated video card and in these cases there is nothing that you can do.

In the case of desktop machines, this should not be present but if it is then there are 2 cases:
The machine only has the integrated graphics card, in which case we will have to either fix the bug or remind our users that the integrated solutions are not officially supported (although it does work on them).
The machine also has the dedicated card that was disabled by user actions. This has to be done by the user since the steps in activating the integrated video card and disabling the dedicated video card are not something to do every day. In this case, the user should know what to doJ but if they don’t then they need to activate the dedicated card from Windows and then deactivate the integrated card from BIOS settings and then switch the monitor cable from one card to the other.


=> Please, try to switch and keep us posted about how it works!

On the other hand, I can already inform you what the dev team is working on at the moment: we’ve gathered your feedback and the dev team is working on the patch 1.5.2. This patch will fix many issues you’ve reported. We are aiming at releasing it by the end of the next week. We’ll keep you posted about the list of bugs we are going to fix in the coming days. Please, keep reporting issues as your reports are very valuable for us!
