Hell Stallion and Nightmare changes.
I msut say that those two dont make much sense when it comes to abilities and such.
HS have searful aura even its not actually burning. And the Nighmare is just to flamy, not actually scary enough to have that frightful aura IMHO.
I suggest swapping their looks. "Nighmare" fits alot better with frightful aura and the look of the Hell Stallion and vice versa... "Hell Stallion" fits alot better with the Nightmares burning look and the searing aura.
Could someone look into this and try to make a mod for them?

Seconded.
Same btw goes for the Assassin and the Scout from dungeon, I mean, which of the two looks stealthier?
The one that looks like a professional medieval spy rather then the death-metal dropout in purple.
The Assassin looks like its speedy, that's it, it doesn't look as deadly as the un-upgraded one which actually has some believability going for it.

Why don't you swap their abilities and stats instead, that's even more easy to do and it keeps the upgrade-line visually uniform.
Go to Gamemechanics\Creature\Creatures\Inferno\ in the data.pak
You will find the .xdb-files from these creatures in this folder.
You can edit them with notepad. The settings in the .xdb files are very easy to understand.

Yes. It would be much easier to just switch their names and their abilities, than changing the visual look. This way, the Firehorse (not matter how you'll call it) will stay with the other fire Inferno creatures (on the same row). You won't have to switch the creatures' avatars either.

But what if you want to swap the upgraded look for the un-upgraded one?
Then swapping stats and abilities won't really help.

It's not too difficult, but it's a nuisance. I don't think anyone would want to edit those things. And why would you want to change visuals anyway? Just give the stats and you're done. For the Stalkers - Assassins thing, I recommened you just change the names. The current Stalkers look a lot more like Assassins.

Do it like this:
-extract the files with a program like winrar (not all of course only the needed ones)
-now open the .xdb files with notepad (first untick read-only in the file properties), do not tick the option always to open .xdb files with notepad, because that has caused me problems in the past.
-edit the lines in notepad (they are really easy to understand)
-after the files are edited repack them with winrar with a .h5u extension (keep exactly the same folder structure=gamemechanics\creature\creatures\inferno\)
-put it in usermods folder and you are ready

No, that's not the problem, the Scouts and Assassins! The Stalker can stay as it is, it the un-upgraded Scout that looks superior to the Assassin, I want to swap their visuals completely because the Assassin looks like a SCOUT and the scout looks like an ASSASSIN.

I fully agree and made that slight mod myself about 1 month ago. The searing aura is MEANT for the one on fire, and I figure the other one is all smokey-and-stuff, so it "frights" people. It is actually one of the easiest things I've done. All you have to do is go into the .xdb files and change one to the other. Very, very easy, even though Cleave (who is 'da man!') already got one for you, check it out just so you can see how to do it.
First, go into the data folder where you installed HoM&M V, then unpack the "data.pak" file (you can use WinRAR, if you don't already have it there are some downloadable versions out there). You can unload the whole thing, or just these two specific files:
1) ...\data\GameMechanics\Creature\Creatures\Inferno\frightfulNightmare.xdb
2)...\data\GameMechanics\Creature\Creatures\Inferno\3rd\Hellmare.xdb
Once you have these use notepad to open each file, and down towards the bottom you will see:
for the "Hellmare":
<Abilities>

ABILITY_DEMONIC

ABILITY_SEARING_AURA

ABILITY_FEAR

</Abilities>
for the "frightfulNightmare":
<Abilities>

ABILITY_DEMONIC

ABILITY_FEAR

ABILITY_FRIGHT_AURA

</Abilities>
All you have to do is to switch the "Ability_Searing_Aura" with the "Ability_Frightful_Aura" with notepad. Make sure you delete the lines from the one you want to remove the ability from, or they will each have both. Save both of them with changes.
Now make a branch of empty folders that has these 5 folders: \GameMechanics\Creature\Creatures\Inferno\3rd
put the frightful .xdb in the Inferno folder, and the hellmare .xdb in the 3rd folder. Use WinRAR to make an archive of the folder (must be zip, not rar though). When that is done change the zip extension to .h5u, put it in your mod folder and your done.
As I write these here it seems longer than it is. Really isn't, find those two .xdb files, edit them to switch abilities, make empty folders with correct path and put files where they need to go, zip it, then .h5u it. Really, really easy. I have started making some loading screens, many graphical adjustments, most names of creatures and character classes are edited (that squire guy ain't no squire, that's a knight; so the knights became warlords).
Try this, pretty soon you'll be making all kinds of mods for yourself. Nival has made it pretty ease, and sfidanza help me a bunch too.
Hope it helps!

Just follow the link I posted, download the nightmare.h5u file and put it in your userMods folder. That will swap the two models (no stats are changed). Let me know if there is any problem.

The little trick I use doesn't alter the creature model on the adventure map, only in towns and battles. I have to find a way to make it work. The icon and the name are indications of the creature you actually face, in that case Assassin, not Scout.
What about the Nightmare upgrades swap, does it work?
