[NCF based] Basilisk Mod

Special thanks to 2ndHero for creating the textures, Radar for helping with the icon and making the Arcane Blades mod which I based mine on, Sfidanza for making this stuff possible via the New Creatures Framework and Gnoll_Mage for his useful advice on editing shadows.

So... basically, the only work I did was programming, texts and icon-making.  Not a huge effort, but give me a break... it's my first released mod

Anyway, this little piece of work brings Basilisks into your Heroes V game.  Not the old Basilisks from Heroes III, which are impossible to reproduce with modding as it is, but the Might and Magic style-Basilisks (i.e. Lizards).  A comparison:

BASILISK

Tier: 4
Attack: 9
Defence: 6
Damage: 8 - 11
Speed: 8
Initiative: 12
Hit Points: 40
Growth: 5
Price: 320 gold
Power Rating: 820
Editor Creature ID: 214

Abilities:  Large Creature, Death Stare, No Enemy Retaliation.

GREATER BASILISK

Tier: 4
Attack: 10
Defence: 11
Damage: 10 - 11
Speed: 8
Initiative: 12
Hit Points: 52
Growth: 5
Price: 480 gold
Power Rating: 850
Editor Creature ID: 215

Abilities:  Large Creature, Torpor, Armoured, Lizard Bite.

SALAMANDER

Tier: 4
Attack: 12
Defence: 9
Damage: 10 - 12
Speed: 9
Initiative: 12
Hit Points: 48
Growth: 5
Price: 480 gold
Power Rating: 850
Editor Creature ID: 216

Abilities:  Large Creature, No Enemy Retaliation, Agility, Immune to Fire, Enraged.

Download Link (V1.5):
http://heroescommunity.com/filespace/file/%5BNCF%20based%5D%20Basilisk%20Mod_1.5.rar

To Install:
Using WinRar or a similar program, extract both folders within the .rar into your TotE directory.  Normally this should be in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V - Tribes of the East.  A map editor button is included with this package if you wish to place the creatures on maps.

Note on screenshots:  The "jaw-holes" and shadows generated by the Dark Rider textures have been fixed since the time these screenshots were taken.

Comments are welcome

Thank you for the warm comments  This is not the final version mind you.

@Radar:  Done and done, new links added in the masterpost.
@Vlaad:  Just artistic license

If anyone's wondering about the gaping hole in his jaw, that's a texture problem with doesn't seem possible to fix.  This is the best we can get.

Looks perhaps less like a Basilisk than a Dinosaur, but pretty well done. I would have made it green, though.

Oh wait, it doesn't work that way. Remove line ABILITY_LARGE_CREATURE and change value in CombatSize tags to 2.

Not with my limited skills, unfortunately.  It's probably possible using effects, if you're really experienced.

@Radar:  Thank you.  Damn, I knew I'd forgotten something.  The fixed version is now linked above instead.

The Complete folder goes in the game directory not in the data directory. Like I said in the Radar's arcane blades thread, you should put your .pak in the "data" folder within the zip archive so that only one action is require to extract both files correctly.

I like this one very much, this creature looks really new, not like a recolor. The skin is also very good quality.

OK Neckie, problem fixed.  Though when I put Radar's "Complete" folder into my data directory, the icon shows up fine in the Map Editor...

@Magnomagus:  You have 2ndHero to thank for that, he made the textures

Sure it is, I can make custom versions of the mod with different graphics if you like - one with back stripes, one green.

It's possible, but bears have no attack animation.
