It is a simple spell that you can cast without a spellbook and which can be found on the map - and (I believe) be bought in towns.

Potions will only contain low-level spells. Otherwise the stronghold would be too powerful: great and more creatures, and the possibility to use every spell through potions.

Hrm not a great deal of suggestions here.
Actually, Potions can be as powerful as we like. Of course more powerful Potions will cost more money to purchase. Perhaps the "Potion shop" will be upgradable in several steps to produce more items.
Recall that Potions would probably only be usable by heroes in most cases. They're artifacts and we're told that normally creatures can store them but not use them.
For Chaos Magic:
- A Potion which explode violently when thrown dealing damage to one hex or an area of hexes. (Can come in a few varieties of different power)
For Death Magic:
- A Potion which creates a poisonous fog dealing damage to all nearby living creatures.
- A Potion with poison which reduces Health or combat values for affected creatures.
For Order Magic:
- A Potion which allows the Hero to Hypnotize enemy monsters.
- A Potion which gives affects similar to Frenzy or Slayer.
For Life Magic:
- Potions to restore Mana and Health.
- Potions for Curing of diseases (includes negative spell effects)
- Potions to give Hero resistance from spells.
- Potions to enhance combat values and hitpoints.
- Potions to deal damage against Undead creatures.
- Potion of ressurrection
For Nature Magic:
- Potion for summoning of nearby creatures to your aid?
General combat effects:
- Potions for Good luck or morale
- Potion for increased Speed.
- Potion improving a Hero's command radius.
- Potions for giving protection from a certain alignment (Nature, Life, Death, Chaos, Order)
General adventure effects.
- Potion which allows the Hero to fly or water-walk until end of turn.
- Potion of visions which tell the positions of one or more of loose resources, artifacts, mines, towns, heroes etcetera.
- Potion of invisibility (to make it impossible for enemies to attack Hero until the start of next turn.) The invisibility applies only to the Hero so the Hero will have to travel alone.

Having a shop for potions and upgrading it equals the mage tower....there will be hardly any differences in the conception.Potions are for stupid people like the Barbarians (If I recall it corectly, Crag Hack said: thinking is too painfull...) so they should act like small artifacts giving small aid of magic, and under any circumstances upgradable. They should act like in diablo, only aiding the creature who uses it, not attacking other units.

Based on what we know they only duplicate existing spells, they don't do anything special and unique. The selection is probably quite limited and I doubt you can upgrade your blacksmith except possibly in the stronghold.

I remember reading that there will be more items available in the Stronghold blacksmith than in other towns, but I don't know if that means there will be upgrades to the blacksmith to make more items available.
Potions aren't really like spells, because they can only be used once and cost money. It would be like using gold instead of spell points for simple magic effects.
I imagine Potion of Haste will be one that is available. Potion of Slow, on the other hand, would be ridiculous.
