Who Will Triumph in the Clash of Ancients? Asylum or Academy?
"Heroes of Might and Magic IV takes place after a cataclysm destroys the country of Erathia--the country central to recent Heroes of Might and Magic games, as well as the recent installments of the Might and Magic role-playing games. One of the survivors of this destruction is a woman named Emilia Nighthaven--a woman determined to help restore some semblance of peace and order to the world. In attempting to do so, she'll have to face the Immortal King Magnus, who commands deadly creatures called dragon golems, and also possesses an artifact capable of controlling the minds of others. Clearly, the king will make a daunting foe. The clash between Emilia and Magnus will be chronicled through seven different single-player campaigns."
This is the story-line for the Heroes IV Campaigns. If you have visited my Asylum thread, you will know that I think this means that Asylum will topple Academy, Warlocks will triumph over Wizards, and the age old question of which is better: Black Dragons or Titans? will be answered. Since Asylums are the natural enemies of Academies, it would seem that they would play a key roll in this campaign in defeating the Academies(the Academies would be controlled by Magnus because he rules Bracada, which builds the Towers, etc.). Tell me what you think.

not sure why...
But i think the Asylum towers will be one of the strongest (really? one out of 6?  )
Asylum seems to be getting really strong creatures so i guess the Asylum will be favorite for lots of players though my personal favorite will always be human (haven).

Ofcourse we can't be sure untill the game is released.
Maybe a town called Tiranium will be the strongest and 3DO has not mentioned it because they wanted to save some for the release and keep surprising us. hehe
So we can't really tell yet, it's just the way things look now that makes me think Asylum will probably be the best.

Asylum will be a better town. It is essentially the Dungeon twon with the best stuff from Fortress added. Academy will be pretty weak, since it is basically Tower without the things that made Tower a good town.
But Academy will have to triumph, as good always beats evil in fantasy games.

Balance
How can you guess who would win? the games not even out now and if you have not noticed 3do are trying to completely balance the teams so either could win against any town. So it all depends on who uses there team better and whos a better player.

here is what Jennifer Bullard said about storylines in homm IV.
'Wait until you read the stories. Using a brand-new scripting system, we were really able to bring the player into the story.'
It sounds good, but i will have to see it before i believe it!

Ofcourse the academy will loose!
Same with haven ...... They will lose from every single castle! The stronghold will crush them like rats.
The Aslyum will eat them like chicken
the Necropolis with Poison them like frogs..
the Acedemy will shrink them like mice
and the preverse will turn them into trees like the ent!

Academy, Haven, and Preserve= Good towns
Stronghold, Necropolis, Asylum= Evil towns
Good ALWAYS beats Evil in fantasy games.

... true! oh, dark one! but this is the way of the world
... and although there is no cure for the campaigs, at least you can take the random map, choose necropolis (thant if possible) and kick some do-gooders ass (castle for instance) to diminish your frustration...

Evil should win HOMM4!
Just once I'd like to see a fantasy book/game/movie where evil triumphs over good. HOMM4 would be perfect for that. Stronghold is already WAY out of balance, and Asylum looks very good. Academy will be pitiful without the support of Titans. I think this could be the game.
Also, it is possible that the outcome will be determined by the player. At Portals of Might and Magic I saw one of the top designers saying that some new tings were being added to "really bring the player into the story." This sounds like th player may be able to decide the outcome!

If evil wins then the world is lost... That's why good always win... Bad guys can come again with other looks ..but if earth is doomed and bad destroying everything then there will no other homm games anymore! So evil must loose And then come back in the next homm to loose again! ;o)

??? I tought you guys all loved the GOOD crusadars and hobbits so much?
I always love evil more! minotaurs succubus sphinx medusa all evil rules!!! Even the fairy dragon is a spion for the evil side! That rules!
But if evil wins and the world is destroyed then there will be no more games...
Or maybe they must come from another planet...
YOu know if evil wins they will destroy the world!

Hmmmmm
Coldfyrius, the reason I think Asylum will win is the very reason you said it wouldn't. In the campaign, Gavin Magnus is clearly the antagonist(villian); apparently he has been corrupted(in Heroes III, he was good). Since Magnus was, in Heroes III, the immortal ruler of the Bracada Highlands, and Bracada builds Towers, and Heroes IV Towers are Academies, Magnus will probably command Academy troops, therefore commanding the Academies themselves, and since he is now evil, he uses a good castle for evil. Whew, that was a long sentance. Since good always wins in Heroes(don't argue with me on this point), and Asylums are Academies' enemies, the Asylums will probably be crucial to the campaign in defeating Gavin, and therefore, will conquer Academy. If any one makes me reapeat this ONE MORE TIME, I WILL BE VERY ANGRY. I WILL BREATHE FIRE ON YOU.
Emilia Nighthaven is probably a Queen Catherine-like person.
