That happens to me a lot as well. That's why I always use the Cellphone Trick (and even that doesn't guarantee anything). 
The Cellphone Trick works as follows:
Assuming the person you like has a cellphone, just wait until someone calls him. After the call, joke that his girlfriend should definitely stop calling him so frequently (or something to that effect, the premise is to have "girlfriend" and "call" in the same sentence  ).
Since your statement was so spontaneous, he'll probably tell you one of the following things (without thinking for one moment that you have a crush on him):
1. That wasn't my girlfriend (doesn't tell you much)
2. Why? (he has a girlfriend...retreat! )
3. I don't have a girlfriend... (best case, go for it!)
This also applies to guys trying to get girlfriends too, and it saves the later embarrassment of finding out that he/she has a gf/bf already.

Haha! That's good winterfate. Thanks for your tip. But still well, me I'd better stay silent and hide in the shadowsss.... Because it really looks wrong in every angle and illogical in every argument.
Anyway, it's fine. It comes in naturally so I'm pretty sure it will die naturally too. All I have to do is wait. Right?

I've been waiting for months for a certain girl to break up with her bf...but they look happier than ever. That's why I'm looking at other...prospects. 
Haven't been able to use the Cellphone Trick on her though (too many people around her when she gets called).
Oh! I forgot to mention that:
Try not to use the Trick when you two are in public, because it could get messy...

The main woman/girl on the otherhand, it was love at first sight. I figure if it's meant to be it will happen, but until then I will try to forget about her.

I know that feeling as well.
The best advice I can give you is to keep dating/meeting/getting to know other ladies. If your main woman/girl is the one, then eventually it'll all work out.
You can't just stay in standby mode, waiting for her to break-up (been there, done that...to a certain point, doing that), because it may never happen (or it could take them years to break up  )
(I like this thread...it makes me chattier than usual )

Heh, long time since posting in a love topic Not much for me to say in terms of successful relationships, but I have something to say about soulmate obsessions.
Being obsessed / in love with someone after only a short period of knowing them most likely means that you've made up, assumed or exagerated most of the things you like about them. If this obsession is instant, she reminded you of your "perfect girl" idea, and you've assumed that just because few qualities seem to match, the rest must match too.
There seems to be a specific type of girls (can apply to guys too) who are insecure in themselves and cope by mimicking other people's wishes. They are really good at it, somehow instantly picking up exactly what you want to see. Very easily they act in a way that resembles your perfect idea. They don't do it because they like you though. It's how they act with everyone to be safe and be liked. They're fake because they are too afraid of not being liked for who they really are. Subconciously they belive they're a horrible person that noone will like.
Usually those ones have a boyfriend that they just broke up with, feeding their insecurity and drive to be liked by other guys. It's a wounded ego trip. Their behaviour is aloof - they hook other guys with their acting and then remain distant and vague, internally enjoying when several guys are chasing them and trying to figure them out.
Soon a different picture starts to emerge. Once she got you chasing her, she's no longer interested. Two reasons for this. Firstly she has a low self-opinion, even though she might not admit it to others or even herself. In other words if she's a loser, and you're chasing after her and giving her so much praise and attention, you must be an even bigger loser. Secondly, she already "got you" so there's no more ego trip to gain from you, time to move on to getting other less loser guys to chase her. You might not be a loser at all, it's just her internal logic.
This is marked by her sudden loss of interest in you, and she acts the part of your "perfect girl" less and less. Naturally you try to do more and offer more for her to get that "perfect girl" you long for back. However as explained above that just makes her see you as an even bigger loser even if your generosity, affection and feelings are sincere.
If you see through the sharade and try to relate to the person she is underneath, she'll avoid you like a plague. She tries very hard to avoid her negative feelings (because who will like her with negative feelings?), and around you it becomes harder to ignore what's real.
That's how the story goes in my experience. It all started off with having a surprisingly large number of things in common, and even literally reading each other's thoughts. So Celf, you got out quite early, it's good news. This sort of thing can really mess you up if you don't understand it and don't see it for what it is. It took me few years to really understand and recover. Now I can spot those types very easily.
