For those of you who may be curious, Gantz just ended. I still don't have a clue what the point of the series was. I'm sure it's something about the human spirit and what not.

Here. It took awhile to be translated. I only randomly read the series, so I can't say too much about it. The end is a bit on the anti-climatic side from what I've gathered.

Yeah I think it lost its direction somewhere inbetween the vampires and space alien superrace or whatever.
It became very well drawn towards the later chapters at least, impressive improvement of the author throughout the years.
The way he draws tears in Gantz always bothered me though, looks more like goo to me with the way he colours it.

I found the storyline clear enough, as far as I'm concerned all the loose threads have been taken care of. Of course the plot exposition is slow so you have no idea what is going on for most of the manga but everything makes sense near the end. Expected more from the ending, feels like the author wanted to wrap it up and move on. There was not much more to say but still..

Reading Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou.
Pretty cool artwork, about a werewolf teen handling school life. Sounds like an MTV drama or something but it's pretty good.
A bit too fanservicey sometimes, though the girl who gets superhorny from violence is quite appealing. Dem psychochicks.

It gets ****ing brutal as all hell later on. Disgustingly brutal.
EDIT:
Finished it, I liked it.
Felt like the main theme was desire, mostly sexual. Everyone is driven by it in some form except for the main character, who isn't even human... manga likes to remind the reader of how selfish and jealous humans are.
Got some delightfully psychopathic characters in there. Villain getting massive pants-bursting boner from cutting people's fingers off and eating them. Yum.
Worth a read.

Finished it friday too. The story seriously sucks balls. The art is good, real good. And there are some pretty epic deliveries in conversation.
It's not really that good of a manga per se. It's more of a test board of what you can do and how. Kind of like artistic films. Is quite good read if you like something like that. But don't expect a good story.

Plus the characters are shallow. They don't really have any deeper dimensions. There are also very few characters that could be described as human. Most of the "normals" fail to present themselves in a way that would make that impression on you.
But hey, had this manga been written a little differently, all of us would have been cheering for the champion of humans going after werewolves and other monsters! I almost did already.

Agreed.
I felt there was more to explore in Dou becoming a monsterslayer, what about that mysterious power of his? What about the wolf reporter? What about these damn scientists that were after his parents? There was much more behind the scenes yet the manga chose to focus on a relatively minor conflict between middle schoolers (lol sounds so wrong, weird Japanese school system ^^) I guess they couldn't move too far away from the source material, apparently this is like a new, more mature version of a manga from like 1970.
After a bit of reflection on it I felt like the manga often tried to shove the word MATURE in your face. I got that it was horrible that she was getting raped, I felt the need for revenge but I didn't need 40+ pages of too much graphics. Felt like I was reading a pure hentai manga.
Still enjoyed it, great art as you said (Dou's facial expressions in the later chapters are genius haha) but lots of untapped potential.

It looks like Cromartie Highschool is getting a full translation with 3,5 volumes uploaded in march and now steadily releasing the rest. Good time to start reading it over from the beginning
