The Excruciating Boredom Thread
Today I was exposed to alarmingly high amounts of boredom that I did not think were possible to reach. That was a new experience. I mean we've all felt bored at one point or another - some more than others but that was just cruel. Let me start from the beginning.
We had an early class today and our professor arrived at 8:20. And he started talking. And talking. Non-stop. Nonsensical things, a mix of politics, economics, society, geography, things tied to the past, future, present amongst others. If people were not sleepy they would probably be hanging from his lips. Maybe. My lids closed a few times.
At that time I was beginning to experience sensations of sheer hopelessness and despair pervading the room. I could almost feel my brain melting and pouring out of my ears and found myself hoping he'd give it a rest at some time but no. Whatever mental processes I had running were getting numb and I was beginning to freak out. The horror, the horror.
A hint of maliciousness found its way to my mind and I entertained notions of an ACME(tm) weight falling on him or letting out a Sparta warcry before kicking him down a dark well. Apparently my mind powers were not enough as nothing happened. I could barely stand that torture. Eventually after an hour and 40 minutes he gave up and we were free to go quite traumatized by the ordeal. I think part of me died in there. Let the healing begin!
As you can probably understand I exaggerated a bit. But I could not believe someone could be so boring, so early in the morning and all the while thinking anyone could care less. I liked the subject but general monotonous blabberings without an actual focus or point are killing me. That same professor had turned a concentrated 25 minutes lesson into 2 painful hours last semester more than twice.
So, anyone feeling bored?  I have a feeling that at least Omega and Okrane will honour this thread

Initialy I was going to say that if you are bored it's your own fault... but ok school/university is a kind of different situation.
Right now I'm also bored... but that very good kind of bored, when you don't have to worry about a thing (yet....) and just don't know what to do with yourself. But well unfortunately this kind of boredom doesn't last very long as you can always find something to be done.

Yeah, I rarely find myself bored but also not wanting to do anything I always try to do something about it and if I don't I won't complain.

That's the spirit . The annoying part is when you are bored and know you should do or even want to do something but are not doing it... arrrrrgh that's bad... but that's more lazyness than actual boredem . Anyways aslong as you are in the situation that you have time for boredom you can consider yourself lucky.

Our lessons are two hours each but normally the professor won't be on time, we will take a break, he will leave earlier or a combination of those.

Two hours is okay, I have a course with three hours, but there has to be a break every hour or so.

Especially at 8 in the morning or even worse 8 afternoon. I feel that people who drag the lesson about an hour+ more than they have to in these hours don't respect your time. At 8 afternoon you are tired and want to go while in the morning the majority can barely understand heavy subjects, the attention span is just low without a focus, a break or asking questions. Understanding your class is paramount for teaching.

1 hour 40 minutes? That's rough, but I've been through worse. Some of my grad school classes were THREE HOURS. Now THAT was agony.

Only time I had 3 hours of constant lesson was back in my English certificate, I think lower. But then I liked English so I only hated the last 20 minutes

1 hour and 45 minnutes? Aww... Poor Elvin...
You wouldn't survive a day in law school. Core classes are all 3 hours, electives are 2. Sometimes we'd have to make up classes and get stuck with 4 hours. Until you've had a 4 hour Equities and Remedies class at 6 p.m. you don't know what boredom truly is.

I had a Finance prof like that. And he was working a perfect monotone voice. People would fall asleep, even start snoring in class. A friend and I ended up skipping class many times to go play pool at the rec center.

Never tried the snoring part but at some time I managed to sleep for 20 minutes. Apparently my friends found it amusing not to wake me up but I was lucky not to be seen by the professor Four hours sounds...Bad. That would require that I become numb to the nearby environment to shield myself.

It gets better. I once slept through one of my economics classes so soundly that when I woke up, I was in a sociology class. Luckily I was seated in the back of the balcony and no one seemed to notice/care.

Professional Responsibility was the worst. It only lasted three hours but I was stuck in the front row. Feigning interest for three hours is an endurance test.

Yeah.. What is annoying is when you can barely keep your eyes open and you realize you almost fell asleep by your head falling. And wonder if it was too noticeable.

Every Friday we have a 2 hour lesson. It is just 2 of the same lesson in one. The only 2 hour lesson I like is IPT (Computers). It has all my friends in it, is a small class and it is fun. I do another computer course but that is boring because it has none of my friends in it, and all these other people i dislike, ugh.
Thank god I dropped Maths though, I hate that subject with a passion.
Usually with Maths, I used to just do pages of Ancient History notes.
