Quote: Saying that StarCraft is crap is kinda... weird, so to say the least. I still enjoy it. If you mentioned its overpopularity, then maybe that would be a reason to unmake it, but it being crap?
Are you serious?
Seraphims statement was more correct thatn yours.
Yes it is as I put my thoughts wrong . I meant that overpopularity may be a reason because this game is overpopular, while calling it crap is absurdous, and something that is plainly false is a bad reason whatsoever.
Otherwise, I agree that overpopularity is a poor reason to unmake a game , contrary to being flop.

What? I never enjoyed that kind of games (and I love strategy in general).
But I would unmake the "graphics-focused" game goals.

Quote: What storyline?
SPOILERS
Squall: So we all grew up in one orphanage!
Zell: And our now enemy was our Matron!
Squall: And we all forgot! Huh, that's cool.
END SPOILERS
I liked the seed concept, the flying gardens, the sorceress' knight (kinda romantic ), the assassination, the battle between the gardens, and many, many others. It was meant to be a love story between Squall and Rinoa, so don't expect miracles. I still enjoyed most of the game. Except esthar (too confusing and didn't fit the world) and maybe the orbital station (too long). And I really hated Selphie. Every scene with her was a waste of my time.

Why world in conflict?it was one of most realistic RTS games.
It is extremly repetative.I played the demo and found it boring within a week. The tanks do not feel like they fight from afar but somewhat near.I found it strange.
And yeah starcraft has a bad story in my opinion and the worst is that playing it online, well makes you angry becasue of spamms.
SC maybe popular but that alone does not make it good.SC 2 will be the same with pretty graphics. No new things and storywise,W40K is better.

Aoe 3 extensions: original aoe 3 wasnt VERY bad, but the extensions...
You should get money for buying them. New civilisations have changed everything what's possible, and they are unbalanced.
Tibia: noobmaking school...
99% games made on movie. Producents think that "if sb enjoyed movie, sb'll enjoy game too" and make weird games which you can finish in one hour (including 45 minutes of movie) then they call it "role-playing" or "adventure". Of course there is some good games like "Pirates from Carribean" (Black Pearl's curse, Undead Chest *****) I also hat most of movies made of books, except LOTR.

Omg you cant say Starcraft is bad.
There are many, many, many, many, many thousasnds of players playing it in Asia...
However Starcraft is also copied, from Warhammer (science fiction warhammer), same goes for Starcraft.
Blizzard wanted to buy Warhammer series, but develoeprs didnt want to sell it. So Starcraft and Warcraft 1 were meant to be warhammer from the begining and you can see that its a bit copied (eldar = protoss for example).
Now Blizzard can just laugh at warhammer and creators.
All Blizzard games have been successfull, and there are millions of players playing there games.

Laugh?DoW II is going to come out and CoH owns most RTS games.
I do not like WoW of warcraft series. Why? Because it is online.I would like to play some ofline matches and there is another reason.
You need money to buy the game and you need money to play the gane.Money, money and again money.

number of players doesn't make it good. it just makes it popular.
saying something is good because its popular or is bad because its unpopular is like trying to say that the opera "The Pearlfishers" is bad because the average guy in the street hasn't heard its music.

I doubt that they would. before they made warcraft or starcraft, blizzard were a small-time company with a limited amount of money, whilst Gamesworkshop was experiencing a prosperous time due to the two warhammers.
Anyway, I doubt that Gamesworkshop would let Blizzard get the series, as they are too possessive about their franchise. even now, with mythic and Warhammer online, they are working together rather than one buying the other.
Its more likely that Blizzard was "Inspired" by warhammer and Warhammer 40k, like how Halo was inspired by Starcraft, and now every console FPS is inspired by Halo.

your forgetting how many people play warhammer. probably just as many people play or have played warhammer or warhammer 40k the board game. coupled with the various computerised attempts at the franchise, Blizzard has got itself some tough competition to beat.

very similar plots.
parasitic aliens, advanced alien race using the preceding aliens weaponry, gravemind (overmind).
They are not similar at all. Just because Parasitic aliens are in both games, doesn't mean that their plots are similar. Many games have parasitic aliens in them, but they are all different than one another. It is just a creature in a game, doesn't mean they are similar in the plot. Advanced alien race? Same thing as well like I said about the parasitic aliens.
Your examples are not too good and you shouldn't say the plots are similar because they have some creatures in the game which are similar.
I guess, according to your logic, you could say that Tyrian and Raptor: Call of the Shadows are both similar (doubt you have heard of these games) because they are both top down shooters, both allow you to upgrade your weaponry on the ships, both get to destroy ships and stuff that are on the ground.
But they are completely different in the plot because:
1: Tyrian is set in Outer Space and Raptor is set on Earth.
2: Your character in Tyrian is the only one who is alive from his home planet, and he later discovers that there is a new home where he can go to, called Earth. In Raptor, you are just fighting against some enemy that is trying to take over the world (I think).
So you see, just by saying that some of the things in the game are similar, doesn't mean you can say that the plots are similar, because they are much, much different.
Let me give you some examples with Starcraft and Halo:
Starcraft is about the Marines, Zerg and the Protoss. The Xel-Naga created the Protoss because they wanted to make a 'perfect' race, but they thought that they failed, and then went to another planet where they found some larvae (i think) and then they created the Zerg. The Zerg didn't have any control and so the Xel-Naga created the Overmind in order to control them. Eventually the Overmind grew smarter and smarter and then ordered the Zerg to go and kill the Xel-Naga. The Xel-Naga died, although a few escaped.
The Marines are in the middle of all that.
Now Halo is completely different (I haven't played Halo in a while, so forgive me if I get any of this wrong, I probably will ), is where you are like a Spartan warrior in Space (), a super soldier of some kind, and your homeland or the whole universe or something is being attacked by Aliens, and you have to try and stop them.
So you see, both have COMPLETELY different plots.

Whoa dude! I'm gonna let this one pass trhough my fingers now. I'm not threatening you, but its not nice when an anvil drops on your head.
About MMO games: The goal in making a succesful MMO is creating the "carrot on a stick" that one chases. The carrot on a stick is a very good metaphore for this thing for when you are chasing a carrot on a stick it keeps going forward as you advance. Some people like that kind of thing, but some don't.
World of Warcraft is way more popular than its competetors because they made their carrot on the stick very well while others have seemingly failed miserably in comparison (good marketing has helped too). Some people get tired of chasing the carrot and quit while others strive for it and eventually catch it. Once the carrot as been caught it is time to move on to other games.
