Bad ends to a good game
I had to ask this to players on here
Cause I feel that I made the wrong choice... on a "map" vs a "clan" in a "clan war"
My opponent tells me "I have killed myself" I ask "main?"
response "yes"
and normally in this situation I would offer a reload of turn.. but in this "Clan War" enviornment I say " hmmmm normally I would offer a reload.. but in clan war hmmm"
So what I am wondering is this : in this game the probale outcome is a loss for me.. ie tower vs castle random xl under 130% is a tough match... but in clan war enviornment is it dishonorable to accept win in these conditions?

suicide!
i think ive killed myself 30+ times in toh games. Why should i reload, i do know i take a chance and if i succeed i might have an advantage. So why should i have a 2nd chance.

I actually killed myself day 2 in a clan free challenge against Philly. Im pretty sure would it have been a normal TOH-game he would have offered me a reload, to get a good game. But considering it was clan, I didnt even ask for it.
And I had absolutely no qualms about reporting the loss.
Instead we got ourselves a good allied clan game with BadAngel and Titan_888.
In clans all wins count, and that is how it should be.

I think sometimes people can take calculated risks about losing their main... and sometimes, they may be gambling upon the offer of a reload...

Hehee Shae, most of the times Ive lost my main to ai, have always been when taking a chance in medusa store, dwarven treasury or the like. And always when Im strong enough to take on everything except when they are fully loaded.
Offcourse they are always fully loaded when I dont have movement enough to check them out first, and when Im in desperate need of cash.
Well considering there is only 5-10 % chance of any off the aforementioned being fully loaded, I think that is a good chance to take.
Guess I just never take a chance with my main in the hope of my opponent giving me a second chance, lol.
And I sincerely hope there arent anybody out there who does that, coz thats just one step from looking at saves etc.

Well for me it depends on how opponent "died". Was it taking a chance attacking something that proved to be too strong, then no reload. But accidently dismissing hero, running into a pack of archangels by mistake, moving your titans next to the hydras instead of attacking by mistake etc, then sure reload.
Defreni, you can check dwarven treasuries etc before entering without using extra movement...

hmmm,
IMHO if u made a mistake, and u have lost ur main force and heroe, then I think u have to afford ur loose, and say ur oponet I loose, you win. Or try to win the game making new heroe...
But asking anybody of retrying for me its a bad education. But if u opponent say u, lets restart then, u can say yes

Muhahahaha, ur right Elio, but the few times Ive done that, was before I knew that
Now its just because I run out of time
But most dreaded way for me to die, is due to morale.
Only slow moving units, but u gotta kill off those grandelves. Offcourse they get 3-4 times morale while ur crossing the board.

LOL ... happy elves killing Defreni and his dwarves
yeah, I agree w/ Eliogabalus. It depends on whether it was an accident or a calculated error:
for example:
- opponent waltzes into utopia while forgetting to transfer all his troops ... I offer a reload
- opponent goes into utopia with strongest army and dies ... um ... if he's lucky I'll offer a reload.
- opponent dies to cpu forces ... depends on whether the 2 of us have met and how that went.

hmm
i prefer opponents that ask for a reload of my autosave ,than the ones that kill themselves when u play them and then the "XYZ has left the game - message" appears and after this they say things like " sorry blue screen can we load ur auto ?" ...well and ya allrdy got cartho and saw his main disappear in cyclopse stockpile.....

sigh
Destro, u r too nice.
I didnt want to admit this in public but I am the person that killed himself.....
What can I say? I guess I am human afterall.
I miss calculated, my stone gargoyles mass hasted and on snow couldnt reach all the way across the screen one space short...Close fight that would have given me the fight.
But to the matter at hand. As I told you in/after game, you won. I view fairly simplely - I gambled...and lost.
In this game I was at a huge advantage, although I didnt look at the save. I had 5-6 more dragon fly hives to hit, 2 utopias, a library of enlightenment, gloves of speed(I would have gotten in 2 turns). I already had my skill slots filled up, log/earth/air/wisdom/offence etc. And also boots of speed already. Reloading would have meant you would lose(prolly), but I had already given u the win. So take it.
I do give out reloads myself, I dont have any guidelines on it. Generally just depends on my mood.
However, with all honestly, if the positions were reversed I wouldnt have given out the reload either. As that random was lopsided, as usual.
I have another question for you, Destro. In the zone you said you played HgXL for 10 hours, and it turned out that the final fight only lasted 20 minutes. So my question is this do you just play for the final fight?? I mean dont you enjoy trying to out-think/play your opponent on the map screen? What I am getting at is it sounds like you just enjoy the final fight. If this is true - play some fest games. They are fast and sometimes the final fight lasts as long as the time spent on the 'map' screen.
Btw Who else wants free clan points??

hehe nah I don't play for only final fight of course.. but it is a big part of the game for me
I love the running around my area collecting stuff like a mad man ... and don't get me wrong it was a great game ..
I think maybe zud created big expectations on that map bringing 3-4 different huge main armies against me in the course of 2-3 days
but I enjoy all the games and all the parts of the games..

Bad end to a good game is when you are about to win, maybe in 2 or 3 days, and your opponent says "can we save plz?"

Bad end to a good game is when you are sure you are gonna lose...but because of morale or speed or something like that you end up winning. Then you feel like a total prick for saying "well..looks like you win prior, but here goes" right before the final battle.
Other bad endings include:
--player losing (full on loss, not retreat) main hero in battle and saying "I can buy them back, the game isn't over...." and then saying "but I gotta go...so save it we'll finish later"
--Forgeting to take of shackles on a poor-mans TP against a stack of goblins.
--Anything that involves the state police, 3 jars of industrial strength joint lubricant, a blow up doll named 'gertrude', a flashlight, 2 rolls of duct tape and a six-pack of natural light.....wait, maybe that's a good ending?

Joe Joe Joe....
That wasnt a bad end to that game, it was just coz I was p1ssed at you No seriously, Mullich made the difference on armies of about equal sides and heroes of similar stats. One mass haste, and great morale = endgame. That wasnt a bad end to a good game, you just did better than you thought you would. I didnt feel any pressure to come and attack you, just because you thought you were going to lose, if I didnt want to come after you I wouldnt have.
So shutup you silly septic
