Anyway, the bottom line seems to be that anyway creates whatever god/spirit/champion he likes with what baklava posted as a possible guideline. Now we need to agree on the setting, right?

Got the setting all mapped out.
a parralel, mythical, version of our world, where people are every day in conversation with gods, a few even intelligently, and doing battle with monsters, some of whom own a particular allegience to gods on acount of them being their Father/Conquer/Landlord
I've only a few places named yet, but here we go.
Britian= Albion
Japan= Nippon
China= Cathay
Greece= Hellas
well, you get the idea.
any further ideas would be helpful, as that is just an idea.

No, um, the names are mostly about how people who live there call the country. Greeks call Greece Hellas, Japanese call Japan Nippon etcetera.

I personally don't like the idea of the parallel to the real world.
IMHO it would be better if the world were more of a blank slate that is created through the individual posts of the members.
As to whether the gods are on a higher plane thing or walk the either I think either/or/a mixture of both would be cool.
I just think that having set lands for people to come from such as Japan and China etc will lead to two things:
1. most lands being unused and never leaving the OOC thread
2. overly stereotypical gods/characters based on the real world country of origin, as i spoke to woock about I'm sure we'll end up with a sumo kamikaze pilot samurai god eating sushi while watching manga 
I don't really think it needs to have any correlation to the real world or a set starting place for ppl to choose from, but I'm not here to make you change your RP or anything, just my ideas.

But on the other hand, the idea on having loads of gods who are all European based is going to get exceedingly boring. Mix it up a bit, maybe.

They don't need to be based on any specific region of the real world.
one of the characters I was thinking of making is a god of decadence and excess, with shisha pipes, perfume, gold, food and women in his temple
Not particularly european, is what I'm trying to say.
It's just that from what I've seen of HC RPs, the more creative freedom each poster is given the more successful it becomes.
An exception would be maybe Cauldrons Keep, but that was a little different

I agree with TA here. I think if this was to be successful;, then make it so that none of the Gods are based upon regions in the world, but might be made up by the posters here. It would be quite interesting to see. But a problem with that is that some people may make the Gods too powerful and it may ruin the game.
But I think the ideas here are pretty good and I will keep checking in this thread to see what other people say.
I hope that this turns out god.

I think it is unlikely that people will make their gods too powerful, and if they did I doubt it would ruin the game. Unless they are really bad
Then we just ask to change or kick them from the RP, if they are ruining it for everyone else. Shadowcaster can help with this.
But as I said, I doubt it will come to this. Who wants to roleplay an all-powerful god anyway? Boring

TA, you mentioned temples early, that might be quiet an interesting dimension to the role play, as you could design your own "Temple"
