I said previously that I would like to see more of those new models -_-
Are they replacing only those two?

I don't want any new models. That would just destroy the old games, and turn this into another "hate/love" mod.
I don't mind the 2 new models, but if you start replacing more of the old models, that will just ruin the experience in my opinion.
I just want some alternative choices and some new content, any mod that changes stuff too much is bound to cause a lot of controversy.

There are 1000 games out there, as alternative option to H3.
Why don't you just let the modders do what they wish, who cares about what one or another wants. It is their work and time, they are entitled to finish what they want, with the graphics they want. Any constructive ideas, beside I don't want this or that?

Here's a constructive idea
Don't do it. It's not a good idea.
Not because I don't like it, but because it's my experience with mods. Whenever anyone makes too heavy changes to elements of the game, people become split in their opinions of it.
Look at WoG, the mod allowed you to pick and choose what you wanted, and even that mod causes splits in the community when mentioned.
Many of the people who support HotA like it because it adds new content, without making massive changes to the core gameplay. Or the core Design.
Also, not as a personal attack, but please, stop acting so defensive, I'm coming with user feedback, nothing more, nothing less. I have already said how much I like this mod, now I give them some advice. Wether they accept it or not is entirely up to them, and I won't blame them if they don't accept it.

Inaction is not a constructive idea. Alternatives are constructive ideas. WoG split community, I beg your pardon? WoG is today more played than regular Heroes, and forum is growing daily with projects and enthusiast fans support. It never was so creative before.
Look at poster before you, he wants more models, you want less. Who the team you think will listen? The one who asks for more or the one who asks for less?

I never really liked the argument "you take it or leave it", but while I understand people may not like the replacing of models in HotA, I love it as long as it remains true to the original concept art. It's hardly ruinous, I doubt they will replace everything in the entire game. Those "new" Orcs were especially refreshing. The important thing is that if they edit or change anything it remains true to the integrity of the Heroes III world and concept, which thankfully these do; 90% of the proposed alternate upgrades also have a precedent in the MM series. It gives me faith that HotA's team does know the material they are handling.
Anyway, by the time the mod is completed to 3.0, I bet everyone will be able to slap together total conversions of the game in twenty minutes while sliding around on hovercrafts and cooking neo-toast, so I'm not very worried that they will destroy everything.

I wasn't asking for anything... I said I would love to see more of them and that's it. Whether they make more models or not I will still enjoy playing HotA a lot and I can't be more thankful to the modders for making it
Considering WOG... if you go on WOG webpage of course you are going to be surrounded with all the WOG lovers, I'm fully aware that more people like WOG than Vanilla version, but there is still a large number of people (although minority) that dislike its complexity

People are arguing about the model changes now?
I have no problem with them... even though the new pikemen seem too large in comparison with other units, I like them. And the original orcs were strange, their facing and movement was wrong and they looked like large goblins.

People have a right to argue when they buy a marketing product from some huge company like ubisoft. However, when you have fan-made expansions like HotA or WoG or others, made for free and available to everyone, you just say thank you or keep quiet. Of course you can make suggestions, but it has to be constructive, i am sure developpers are interested in players feedback. If you really are unhappy, you still can make your own expansion and see what happens.

I am confused about those vague arguments. Is HoTA present in original Heroes story or world? If not, how can we judge this model or another fits or not into some story about something else? On which base can we say, pirate is okay, an elephant is not?
Also about "take or leave", it is the pure truth. Take for example Corribus with his long stories, which break the "instant brief messages" concept the game came with. Will he cut his stories because x or y say "I don't like to read"?
It is impossible to satisfy all kind of tastes, and people just don't get one very important thing: modders do not work to satisfy others in first instance, but because they wish to materialize their desire to create a new world. We already know what happens with projects where authors ask first what we want, they are never completed because an universal consensus can never be reached.

Yes. E.g.: the campaign "Under the Jolly Roger" tooks place on the island between Eeofol and Nighon. And there are some references to Regna.
Also, one of Cove's heroes is Astra - from Enroth.
Quote: However, when you have fan-made expansions like HotA or WoG or others, made for free and available to everyone, you just say thank you or keep quiet. [...] If you really are unhappy, you still can make your own expansion and see what happens.
That's just nonsense. If someone makes something for free, it doesn't mean it has to be awesome. I still can share some negative opinion about it and no one should say I can't do that.
And it doesn't mean your opinion is useless if you can't make a better mod. If you can't build a house, does it mean you can't criticise someone for making an awful building?

Salamandre even though I find your posts a little harsh and even arrogant sometimes, I usually agree with your point, especialy in this particular occasion. However, you need to keep in mind that, the HoTA project, being a "true", "real" expansion is based in the continent of Antagarich so there is no point of creating your own new world an whomever likes it takes it or leaves it. Of course the people of the project can do whatever they want with it! It's their own and all we can do is suggest. However, in a project like this, it is very important that some basis and moderation is used. And of course since this is a forum and not a programmer's collectiva all we can do is make suggestions. If sb says i want this removed, he doesn't mean that he is going to do all in his power to remove because he can do nothing. It is also a suggestion, rude, and without any taste or sense, but still suggestion. That said, we can proceed into sth more constructive than the: I like pikemen! I don't like pikemen! argument (and this doesn't go to Salamandre!! )
P.S. Please do not use the W.O.G word in this thread ever ever again...!!!

Yes, it is set in that original world (which does have pirates). So far as cutting storylines goes, the Heroes Chronicles and Heroes IV had long messages to the point of ludicrosity, all NWC's work. I only speak for myself, but HotA mentions itself that it aspires to emulate NWC's style and create a classical addon. They are succeeding in that goal, hence thumbs-up from me.
That is hardly to say I dismiss work that diverges from the Heroes concept like your Stargate and Empire of the World maps , because you would want to be a lunatic not to see the values and effort in those, but HotA is explicitly aiming to be a "classical add-on".
As far as criticism goes, I have seen this slippery debate on whether people should keep quiet or are allowed to act as armchair critics one time too many. It is a discussion forum, intended for discussion from all sides. Unless otherwise noted or discouraged, anybody is welcome to criticise whatever they like in the WoG zone as long as they can stay on-topic, and can do so with courtesy and respect for the teams and people involved in producing the free content.

Why are people putting words in my mouth?
I mean, I've had alot in my mouth, but that's just rude.
All I said is that I prefer if they work on the extra content (because considering the time it took to release 1.0, we may all have died before we see 3.0) such as new towns and units, before they remove old units.
And yes, I would prefer if they stick with the old units instead of replacing them. I speak both from personal opinions and from what I have observed in other mods. If you think that isn't constructive, then I would like you to explain what you think is constructive.

Yes I have to say I agree with your point, it was previously discussed, and my oppinion in the matter is also that to many changes in the original artwork will have a negative effect in the HOMM3 feeling. It is just my oppinion and of course some people disagree and others agree. But we have already discussed this and especially now this has become obsolete and useless. We could do best to turn into other points like the one that Hobbit has raised, right? The campaign, the story and the way these are presented are one of the most interesting parts in a game!
Also Cepheus, yees these are all reccuring motifs in every forum discussion!! And of course in generall when sb is making a new mod you want to see sth new and awsome that wasn't presented in the original game. All Heroes games till now have offered many diamonds in this department that have kept the titles alive all these years!! However now we are talking about HoTA wich from the beggining was a different story altogether, and that's actually it's charm!

I would like to congratulate everyone who has worked on this mod. This is nothing short of amazing; I am utterly blown away by the evident quality of this work, and the dedication it must have taken to produce. Can't wait for the English version, and for Crownwork and Cathedral whenever you finally implement them!
As far as the Forge goes, I will admit that I would like an option to disable it in case I want to play a more "pure fantasy" game; this isn't something that would need to be put into the mod, though. If I can just do it myself by editing text files or something similar, that works fine for me.
Also, the Cove theme is superlatively excellent; please pass my compliments on to the composer. It fits in exactly with the existing music, and given that HoMM III has one of the best soundtracks of all time, that is no small compliment. I eagerly look forward to further works from this composer!
Again, congratulations to all, and thank you so much. The fact that this game maintains such an active and dedicated modding community more than 12 years after its release is a testament both to the wonder of this series and the amazing fans who play it.

HOTA is perfect for me as it is right now [in terms of content].
It is unbelievable that we are getting new expansion for the best turn based strategy in the history of gaming in 2012 for free [if there would an option to donate money I would do it instantly].
I got to say that I'm absolutely stunned with this expansion and I'm playing it like crazy with my friends. I don't see any difference between 3DO quality and HOTA team quality - totally professional!
I can't play Heroes 3 without Hota anymore!
Thanks for alexander and to whole team, you guys are GODS!

The new models look great, and the orcs were needed I think. As much as I agree with everything about not changeing the core much, there is ONE creature that I would love to see get some attention.
Ghost dragons. I have always hated them, not only because they are more frail than their lvl six counterparts, but because they look retarded. The bone dragons in heroes 2 look evil, and awesome, and they were. In my ideal world, the ghost dragons would be replaced with dracoliches that look much like the heroes 2 bone dragons, has a +5% chance of aging, which cannot be removed with cure/dispel, and has reversed atk def stats (they should be a little harder to kill).
I am very nearly certain this would not imbalance the game, and might make ghost dragons (dracoliches) a genuine threat, as it is, they are either a joke, or someone gets lucky with the special (which I have seen a wandering group land six out of seven bloody attacks)
