Quote: In HotA I added in creatures descriptions (both in russian and in english) all abilities, which I know about, except double damage by elementals to each other and half damage by psychic and magic elementals to some creatures, because it can`t be placed there even using tiny.fnt.
In english 1.2 won`t be right Badge of Courage's description as there is no such in russian version, but later either this artifact will be fixed or its description will be added.
Quote: permanent deleted,for balance?what a pity,we do have specail heroes like gelu,dracon,etc.
They are allowed in maps, in which every campaing hero is allowed (but not as start heroes, as all campaing heroes, only in taverns). In other maps the are not allowed.
a little bit confused.what does it mean not allowed in other map?

In majority of single player maps Gelu, Dracon etc. are not allowed, so are Bidley and Tark from HotA. They appear only in campaigns.

I have a problem with installing HOTA... It says the setup files are corrupted.. I tried this with the english version of Heroes 3 complete and with the russian version of Heroes 3 complete.. Neither of them work.. Anyone got a solution?

Been a while I've installed this but if I recall correctly you need to install WOG first, then HotA.

No, it's thoroughly independent from WoG. Just download again, it'll probably do it. Or try to install as Admin, if not done.
By the way, regarding the indeed breathtaking menu backgrounds, is there going to be one for Cove?

Hello. Dairy here.
I would like to ask some questions, I hope they ain't asnwered somewhere in this topic, since it's huge and I didn't read it all.
1.) In some older pictures there were creatures like Faun, Leprechaunt, Nightmare etc. Do you still plan to release them in new version or they were scraped and won't be used in HotA anymore.
2.) Are you going to remake any of classic creatures ? Like you did with pikeman.
3.) Are you going to add any new spells ?
4.) Are you going to add any new secondary ability to heroes. (I mean anything like navigation, necromancy etc. which are in the game, but new)
5.) Are you going to add any new heroes to classic towns/castles ?
6.) Will you release new versions on per year schelude ?
7.) Is it true you stop the work on the other the new towns you showed us a long time ago, the dwarfs and dark humanish town ?
8.) Will you add any 3rd upgrade to any classic town ?
9.) The decorations in some of your maps which are placed on water, are those waves or clouds ? (probably waves, just asking)
On the other hand I would like to thank you for your humongous work and awesome new designs you added into HotA.
Love how you added so many decorations to maps, new scenarios, campaigns, some game balance, fixing bugs and adding some nice additions which makes the game smoother and ofcourse the new town.
congratulation and I'm looking up to your work in future.
Thanks for your time and sorry for my English.
Sincerely, Dairy.

Hello all!
I would like to thank all this work to the developers on my favourite game of the last decade!
The crocodile warrior (level 6 Cove unit, with the 60% attack reduce) or whatever it is called (I don't understand cyrillic alphabet) has become My new fav. unit! They are pretty much indestructible if they are more than 100!!
The only thing I don't understand why was it necessary to replace the creature stack quantity markers like "few", "several", "pack" to numbers, like 1-4, 5-9, 10-19?
I think everyone, who still plays this game 14 years after its release, are good enough to know how many bad guys are contained within a "horde". This is a little bit annoying for me.
I am waiting for the english version release very much!!!
One last question:
Don't you think about a desert-like town like the Bastion in this video!
That would be also great in Heroes!!

And I have an idea for further game expansion:
Expert artillery skill may gives the cannon an exploding attack!
(and the ballista too! I don' know, for exaple with the animation of a flaming arrow)
Like the magog's or lich's exploding attack. The cannon may take the full damage to the main target, and 50% damage to all the surrounding fields on the hex grid.
Only expert Artillery skill gives this option to the cannon and the ballista. What do you think?

Think about new players who are just getting familiar with game. Yes, they actually exist. If not the new joining players, no one will play the game anyway

And is not possible to have an option to change it? (so it shows you either numbers or quantity markers).
Or even having both things at the same tiem

The original idea was weird, right-click on adventure map stacks should give the exact number. Given that every abbreviation can hide twice the minimal quantity showed, it is way too vague for a strategy game where if you lose your main the game is over.
Anyway, playing with one or other (or both) of options is easy: extract ARRAYTXT.txt from Hota_Ing.lod, open with txt edit, search for gArmySizeNames then remove or add numbers (when english will be out will be easier).

this, and salamandre's reply, make me laugh. I STILL do not know what the numbers are according to the words associated with them. I never care, since by the time I start attacking, they have no chance anyway. I build my armies to wipe out entire continents.

Heroes games are not chess. Getting lucky (or unlucky) is part of the game, it is meant that way and I'm glad it is meant that way. I now got used to the damage calculator of Yona but sometimes I even miss not knowing exactly how much damage I will deal during combat, trying to evaluate the strength of my units like in real battle, so I turn off All Statistics in Combat Options.
So what if things go really wrong you lose the game. Don't you think it would be boring if you win all the time?
Besides Visions spell or having Rogues is there and not so hard. It is good salt and pepper for the game too.

Pretty much this. I remember looking over the tournament rules with some of my friends and wondering "Do these people hate fun?". Random chance is part of the game, and it's part of what makes it enjoyable. Heroes was always about entertainment value over balance in my opinion.
PS: I don't quite remember which tournament rules it was. Had rules like:
No Grails
No "Week of the..." bonuses
Sieges are not allowed, buy a hero and move him and the army outside the castle

A matter of taste. I understand that some of you prefer to know the exact numbers, but I always liked to play with some random-window, in the end I play for fun.
As long as it can be changed (via game options, via game editing) I'll be fine

I think that game doesn't need any new secondary skills.

Clouds.

Numbers are more informative, especially when names are different in different localisations. Names were replaced only from heroes and towns armies.
Quote: I like how is done in Phoenix mod though:
There are only average numbers there. I don't like that way to represent counts diapasons.

No Grails... I had the same opinion about this rule until I've encountered such a situation in multilayer. Imagine one player getting a grail in first week and the other not. Take tower for example... he will have perfect vision of the map 5000 additional gold / day AND 50% creature growth.
Happened to me and even though I had a way better hero and very good army the extra army (nagas) he had were just too much.
Lesson learned and now I will play with all tournament rules.
