Let's say that LOTR is very childish and primitive fantasy. Only very big variety of names and characters saves it.
Peter Jackson managed to do something cool from it, but in fact it's about hobbits and dwarves singing foolish songs and with good mage saving the world from evil orcs.
There are some continuations of LOTR story in Russia at least (like Perumov or Eskov books). They are much more interesting and adult.

You have no point. LoTR is a great literature art-work of our century, which in itself is a terrible downfall of creativity and originality on universal scale. The level of the prose and story-telling in LoTR is amateurish compared to Goethe, Hesse, Dostoevsky and the list could be long. The fact that thousands millions of youngsters rush and buy LoTR before reading Homer, for example, is relevant to why our century simply can't produce anymore great universal literary works, but only literary works selling and appreciated in a closed time context.
So yes, probably the best our century can produce is LoTR quality, too many necessary steps are ignored by eagerness and commercial constraints.

Hello,
I didn't know that there is HOTA mod. I just today found that. I have some questions:
1. Is there an English version? First message seems not to be updated? If yes, where I can download it?
2. What is the latest version of this modification?
3. Is it still under beta?
4. Will this mod replace current WoG?
Thank you.

1. Not officially.
2. Version 1.2 at Acid Cave.
3. No.
4. Not at all, these are very different projects and not compatible. Also, WoG is not "current" by any means, it was consumed by ERA.

Please Help
Hello All,
I am brand new to this forum. I have been playing HOMM3 for over a decade now, and just found out about HotA. I am hoping people will be able to help answer some important questions that I have:
1) I was able to download HotA 1.2 onto my PC and play the game flawlessly. However, I am hoping to get it onto my Macbook Air. I used Wineskin Winery to create a wrapper for HOMM3Complete, and am playing that currently on the Mac, but when I download HotA 1.2 setup.exe, I am having trouble figuring out how to get it to work :-(
2) Can somebody please explain the H3-HD Launcher/Mod to me? I am not technically savvy and did not really understand the way this is supposed to be used, or is supposed to help.
3) Can HotA also be used with WoG and what is the most up to date version of WoG? Can this be done on a Mac?
Thanks for your help, it is greatly appreciated!!!

Hello Jayfro,
HoTA is independant from WoG. For installing HD MOD there are instructions that comes along, simply put in your folder unzip and install as I recall, or maybe just run .exe for latest versions.
You're on a mac, Wine can be a pain in the ass, and for technical assistance regarding this program you'd better go to dedicated forum or visit winewiki.
More simple, have you considered virtualization ? VMware workstation (fusion for mac) is very good, alternatively Virtual Box is free I think.

My Internet security program has detected the Artemis! trojan in h3hota.exe and quarantined it. Do the designers know about this and is there a fix, please?

h3hota.exe from the official link has no trojans or viruses.
But h3hota.exe is modified exe of the original game, and it is unusual for exe-files, so some antiviruses can assume that exe-file was modified by virus. This is a problem of such antiviruses, not of h3hota.exe. You may send this file to antivirus support and maybe they will recheck it and add to exceptions.

Switching to a better anti-virus program could also an option if you get false positives a lot. I feel it's more common for programs of lesser quality to report false positives. I very rarely get any false results with mine (ESET). I think I read that Kaspersky is good, too. Not to side-track the discussion.

The official link is now on df2 (http://forum.df2.ru/index.php?showtopic=28912, link for download: http://www.sendspace.com/file/mgp6hr), but I think we can also trust links from this thread and Acid Cave.

Without putting our cards on the table, I'll try to point out some details.
1Pyromaniacs swill remain in their present form (thugs with flamethrower).
Goblins appear in a completely different, redefining look.
Cyborgs will be quite unlike the original concept of "cyberzombie" and generally will not be humans.
The fourth level creature will be similar to the original ogre concept only by rocket launcher (it will be same as on the original concept and on the our early model) and his massiveness. I can say that this creature has never been on Enroth and in all of the Might and Magic universe — but creatures that looks like him can be found in some other popular fictional universes.
Character of the fifth level creature is a surprise. But this is not a robot and not a cyborgized version of the standard creature. And this creature, same as seventh level, is really based on the Might and Magic universe and inspired by it.
Quote: Is there any HotA map Editor?
Still not, but we are working on it.
Quote: Scylla(8th level Hydra)
No, this is exactly not the type of units that may appear in the HotA.
Quote: Merling King(MM6 Water Elem.)
Partially, their look is already involved
Quote: Regna Sorcerer
Regnan Archer
Their characters are actually combined into a enchantress.
Quote: Pirate
Quote: Triton
Maybe in the future, they and/or Salamanders.
