New Top WoG map in the making
As the topic says. Im confident enough to say that I am actually making a top notch map in WoG at the moment. The map is playable (by that I mean you can finish the main quest) but it is not done.
There is still stuff to do, but I would like to have some feedback before I do anything more. I feel like I might be "overmaking" it with tresures and non-mainquest-related stuff. I also want to hear how hard other people find the map. It might be easy for me to play it through since I made it, but for others...? I dont know, but I would like to find out.
I am also making this topic because I first send Vlad at this forum a mail and asked him to test it. He did and I received som invaluable feedback from him. He also suggested that I should start a topic here on the forums when I had developed the map furthermore. I have done that now and I feel ready to start this topic.
So - I am plainly searching for testplayers for my map. I cannot offer you anything more than some props at a starting event of the map.
Feel free to email me if you are interested and we can discuss details about the map then!
PS. Big thanks for Vlad for your help so far!!!
/Jonatan

Yo!
IŽm back on track in making this map. Its almost finished, lacks only a few text events, and some end balancing.
Im not out to make a really hard map, so if anyone wanna play it they shouldnt have that much of troubble going through it. I am also not a huge fan of using scripts so its basicly made in WoG without any yada yada special scripts.
Those who play the map can write here in this topic what they think about it. Whats hard, whats too easy, if thereŽs too many battles, a time in the game where there is too few etc, the story etc.
I see now that Salamandre has two maps out here for playing and they look great, but I do think that you can play this map on the side when his battles gets too hard! haha! IŽm currently playing his Empire III, and in comparising to that map mine is lightyears easier.
So, would greatly appreciate if some people would like to play the map!
Map can be found here in the bottom right corner: http://www.2shared.com/file/6384014/6fc8517d/Mutare_Drakes_Vacation.html
Best regards, Jonatan

I see this is the map I already had a look at several months ago. The layout is exceptional and the only thing it lacks are the scripts. For the labyrinth, want me to suggest you a easy script which keeps track of the moves you need to do inside? Like a papyrus or something similar.
but even without scripts, the map should be very enjoyable, I see there is a full story, the only thing you should be worried are those thousand wog artefacts you placed on the map. Without scripting them, you take a huge risk to unbalance the map.

Yeah since last time I changed the creature strength at the labyrinth too. So I could script like a papyrus where I write the way through the maze so that the player can look at it when heŽs inside the maze? Right now its very possible to just storm through the maze, with minimum of 3 battles and not that big of losses, or take the long way with no losses
With the wog artefacts you mean that they are too good and me carrying them will be too strong? Or do you mean that the game will eventually snow up cause of them?
Thanks for the nice feedback about the layout on the map! Im gonna sit down now and learn little more about scripting and later on make a better one.
Btw - moving AI heroes in WoG = risky movement?

There are some issues which can screw your adventure in this map.
You used a few unclaimed WoG objects which are not scripted. According of what wogification options the player check, those objects can turn into pyramids, thus giving fly/Dimension door to the AI or human.
The commander artefacts can be a game breaker if commanders are enabled. If they are disabled then the artefact will not give any bonus. Same for the power stones.
You did not specified if experience system will be enabled: are you aware that AI gains experience 10x faster then the human at 200%, so the AI which will have access to those crystal dragons dwellings will be able to gather a formidable army? (crystal will have health doubled, speed improved etc).
If one uncheck the experience script, then there will not be problems. But what if he plays with it? Was the map tested with the new settings?
You used the new white WoG teleporter in this map. Do you know that this teleporter will move the player to ALL the two ways teleporters on the map? It is an universal teleporter.
The map looks great, and I will test it as soon as I can. I will keep you informed about the different issues dues to some scripts. After a first look, it seems that your map need some wogifications prohibitions. Removing experience, town demolish (huge unbalance), script the few new objects, removing plague/bonuses from creatures week (to avoid bad placed monsters on the narrow passages).

Ohhh, long answer. Super!
Ok, first things first.
- IŽll replace those unscripted objects then. (But I have Dimension door, fly disabled so it should be impossible anyways to get them, right?) IŽve only used them as graphical beauty hehe.
- Commander artefacts = game breaker? How do you mean? IŽve played with them and made the map with the possibility of player getting every skill in mind, and also trying to boost the commander as much as possible. If you by game breaker mean game crash now and then IŽll remove them asap
- IŽve been playing on impossible level and balanced it from there. Actually the biggest reason I made this map in WoG is because of the experience system on creatures. Basicly played on impossible because I thought that weaker players would then have an easier ride through the map. Especially if they turn of AI experience completely. And AI does not have access to the crystal dragon caves If you test the map I recomend you to play on impossible level at AI creature exp.
- The teleporter. Crap. I tought it was the last one, but its the 2nd last one the player will enter. Well, I changed that now.
Try it as soon as you can, iŽll be waiting for you responses!

You don't need to. Just use Sergroj editor and modify the properties. In this way you can use ALL the 400 new objects WoG proposes with new properties ( a wog object will be a seer hut etc). The fly/DD are given from pyramids to the AI even if they were disabled in editor.

The commander can become so strong with his artefacts than you will encounter no opposition. As I did not test yes, it might work, but usually when Com. artefacts are present, there are chances that your commander finish the game with 100K HP.
I am free this weekend, so I start now a test and will inform you if any bugs. I will play with experience/commanders enabled.

Hmm... is it possible that Im sitting on a older version of WoG? Because for example in the latest testplay im making my commander is at level 67 and has 3k HP. He gets onehitkilled by almost every single monster at this point in the map and his best usage is to hopefully paralyze the enemy / take the retal

Ok, I started the map. Nice idea about making chapters story, even if they do not give any hint about what to do.
Now:
Moving Rion towards the first monolith gives very different results:
1) If he ends near the stronghold, he is blocked whole game.
2) If he ends near the fortress he has not much to do.
3) If he ends near dragon dwellings, same.
4) If he ends near Solmyr, then Solmyr can take the tower, but his -3 starting morale will give a huge pain feeling through hard battles.
5) If he ends south, near stronghold (Kilgor the terrible lands) he maight be able to take the stronghold.
So there are 5 issues possible from the first day/week, each one leading to a very different game. Is this what you wanted to?
I am still on first week, asking myself which way to choose, so those are just first comments, I think I will choose the Solmyr issue for now.
