Pop, soda, coke, or something else?
Simple question: what do you call pop/soda/coke/soft drinks when writing in or speaking English?
For the record, I say "pop".

My county is completely pop. I say...diet. Just me, cuz its nothing but what I drink.

Well don't know if it is because I moved around a bit, or what but I use a mix of them.
Depending on mood it is soda, pop, pepsi, or coke. Mostly pop though.

I use Coke, when talking about cola. Otherwise I use Lemonade or Soda.
Voted Coke though.

I also say coke. Although I do say soft drink as well. Never heard anyone say pop, lol. Voted soft drink though since I only say coke for the actual brand coca cola.

Oh and for some reason it is a federal offense punishable by death to call Dr. Pepper a root beer (ok not really, but people act like it is).
Yes I know root beer traditionally does not have caffeine. To me Dr. Pepper taste more like a rootbeer then a cola however  .

Me and my family went to Ireland 2 years ago, We were at a restaurant and I said: I want a coke please - the waitress stared at me, she thought I meant coke like the drug - ever since I like to say soda or just say: Pepsi / coca cola

I don't know really.
I always use the brand name in english.
In finnish it's "limppari" in english it would be a some easier way to say lemonade.

It doesn't really matter to me. However, there was a time that I requested rootbeer and got Dr. P instead. There was a considerable difference, in my taste. I din't care too much, since I liked it anyway.
And, back on topic, I say soda.
