Poll Question: Quake 4
How many did enjoy this game, for me was average. A good shooting game, with what seems like an average story, average gameplay and a tricky ending. Ill give it a 7 for the fair share of enjoyment.
Rank it, 1-10 - 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest
NB. I know it is a rather old game, but I bought for a fair amount of money and completed it rather quickly and thought: did I enjoy this?

I compare games before i can give it a rank.. Well what the heck i rank all Quakes while aim at it
First Quake was kinda ugly but it had some gore Unfortunately didn't exceed Duke Nukem 3D in my mind. 7½
Quake 2 was good single player game and even better multi player game. Still my favorite weapons; Super Shotgun, Minigun and Railgun. Possible the fps game what i have played the most. 9
Quake III Arena was and still is interesting. First i didn't like how fast it was but now i think it's best qualities in the game. Liked the weapons sounds in this one. Too bad the game is quite simple and not as flexible as UT. FFA still rocks 8
I only played Quake 4 for short time. Rather play single MoH/Half Life2 or multi UT2K4. Maybe it just pissed me off that it lacked so much 7
So conclusion (finally), yeah it was entertaining but not as much as it's predecessors.

Quake is an awesome game and a classic for FPS, along with Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and countless others.
Quake 2 was awesome as well not only on PC but also on Consoles As well. I remember playing it on the Nintendo 64. Ahh, the good old days.
Quake 3 is great to play online with some friends, and it is fun against the AI as well hehe.

Several. It's not the fact that they're on the console that bothers me; it's that they're not played with a keyboard and mouse.
Half-Life PC > Half-Life PS2
Halo PC > Halo X-box
and so on.
FPSs are supposed to be played with a keyboard and mouse. They were originally designed that way. Since the days of Wolfenstein 3D and Doom, they were like that.

This time you are mistaken Mvass.
You see no sane person would ever play Doom or Wolf 3D with a mouse.
It's torture.

You don't need a mod to use the mouse in them but the mouse control just happens to be terrible without any.
Best played with gamepad or keyboard.

Yeah, but you need a mod like Doomsday for the mouse to be bearable.

Yes Mvass with Mods that might be good, but did you come up with the fact that not everyone downloads and uses mods? Most people just like to play the game the way it was made. Like JoonasTo said, playing Doom or Wolfenstein 3D with a mouse would be torture.
And also, not all FPs games were made to be used with a mouse involved. Go play some FPS games on the consoles and then report back when you have tried them out quite throughly. I can assure you that FPS games work quite well on the consoles.

Well, for Doom and Wolf3D you don't really need a mouse. For Quake and onwards, though, keyboard and mouse are the standard. And especially with modern FPSs like Quake 4 where the enemies move so quickly you need a mouse, not a controller with a stick. It's much easier to aim with a mouse.

Alright Mvass. I respect your opinion but I think it is a bit wrong, that's just what I think. Sure, the mouse and the keyboard may have been standard for Quake and onwards, but people were used to just using the keyboard so they used that more. In Modern gaming, people do use the mouse because it does help you aim a bit better like you said. However I do disagree with your whole opinion that FPS games are supposed to be played with a mouse and a keyboard.
In my opinion, the games that do require a mouse and keyboard are games like Hitman, Deus Ex (old game ) and countless others just like that.
Have you seen the Halo series on the Xbox by any chance? I am pretty sure you have but do you see how popular that series was and actually still is? That's because people do prefer to play it with just using the controller. It is easier to use. I am pretty sure that there are more Halo players playing it on the Xbox and Xbox360 than there are people playing it on the PC.
It's because Consoles were made for gaming in mind. Forget the other peripherals such as DVD playback and the like, Games are what Consoles were made for. Games like Doom3, Black, Halo Series etc all play very well under the Console versions.
I do think, however, that there are some games that just should not be on consoles such as games like Sim City or RTS games like Age of Empires or the old Starcraft that was on the N64 and the Playstation (I think).
But do you see how well FPS games operate under the console versions? You just need to give them time and get used to the controls and you are all set. I have no problems playing FPS games both on the computer and on the consoles. Both are different in their own way and they are generally always fun no matter what you play it on.
