I like prayer, force field and berserk the most. And I also like the things dread knights and might gorgons do.

Yeah they are cool, but they are not spells, they are special skills that they have. But nonetheless they are cool.

IMO Mass Prayer, Destroy Undead and Lightning Bolt looks best. The more damage the better. It's a really nice feeling to enter a fight against seven stacks of undead and cast destroy undead to see them all dwindle down to nothing. Fight over in no time. Mass Prayer feels kinda soft, giving the best to my troops and with style.

In older heroes i liked the Lightning bolt spell. Also the sound was nice when it striked the enemy!

I agree entirely with Homer171 there, i loved the sound it made when it struck the enemy, it sounded awesome.
Also the Chain Lightning spell when it struck one enemy and then the next and next and so on and so on, sounded really cool.
Multiple lightning strikes rules!!!

Mine would probably be the disease animation, it's cool watching your opponent vomit green slime on themselves, or the Sacrifice animation, better with the werewolves on the WOG expansion though

1. Prayer (light from the sky)
2. Haste (whirlwind)
3. Hypotize (dingling thingy)
4. Counterstrike (daggers flashing)
5. Magic Mirror (cool)
6. Frenzy (hurricane)
7. Slayer (shield got owned)

There are a lot of great animated spells in HoMM3. To view some of the most obscure and less used spells of the game, in WoG, when you select the "Garrisons" script, they are multiplied. If you play WoG and have this script turned on, you know what I mean. Fnord knew how to bring useless spells into the forefront with this script.

Well, dunno bout the best animation, but I can tell you the most inappropriate - implosion. Looks like you're attacking your enemy with hot tar, instead of making it shrink outside-in till it dies. Yeah, the HOMMV implosion is way closer to the true concept.

I don't remember all the animations from H2, but I remember the stoneskin spell(and / or steelskin? I'm not sure) , where the brick wall appears in front of the creature with the appropriate sound. I like it because you get the feeling that the creature sure got hardened by it.
I also love the implosion from heroes3, the animation and sound really makes you feel how the targeted creature is turned inside out in unnatural ways.. very painful.
