Romance Of The Three Kingdoms
Most of you probably have read this book, but just in case you never know there is a computer game of it, let me tell you that it has reached the eleventh version. I'm just wondering if you like the book, does it make you passionate about the game as well.
As for me, I have to say that the last version is somewhat boring, in the sense that it requires veery looong playing hours. It is still addictive though; just trying to reach the end of the objective to conquer China and explore new characters, this could take you days in front of your PC or TV (for those playing the PS version like me). I've been playing one scenario for a week and it hasn't finished. In fact, haven't even reached half of China.
Both ROTK and HOMM are turn-based, but ROTK isn't so much about active strategies like what we find in HOMM. The basic concept is the same, land development and battles etc., but things like skills, type of armies (creatures in HOMM) are somewhat linear, less complicated but of course consequently offer less variety.
The last version I played was ROTK IV, it was something like 8-10 years ago. Then I never knew the V to X, then found the XI when I recently bought PS2. I reckon the best of the series is the II, in terms of simplicity. But in terms of graphics etc., the latest is always the best as the case in many other games.
When I never met the V, I thought the game is dead. Apparently not. So I thought, for a series that can reach its XI version - as dull as it may seem - it must have fanatic fans. Hence this thread, hoping to hear from all of you, if there's any ROTK fans at all here.
I love the game mainly because I've read the book and love the story and its characters. Any discussion on it is therefore most welcomed.

Luo Guanzhong, 14th century. It's something ancient, the war strategies in it are often quoted in business schools, supplied with relevant case studies. It's like Sun Tzu's Art of War, but the latter is more on the 36 stratagems, not a romance.
This Wiki site can be a good start if you really want to have an overview of it. There are many others, obviously.
