Dead? Well, it wasn't dead in the first days after its creation, when I still had some nice trailers to use.
If you have plenty of ideas then why don't you post them?

Are you kidding? Those look more like slide-shows than videos

Becuse they are from games which are made beetwe 1989 and 1997...
Might and Magic IV came out in 1992, and MM5 came out in 1993...
Still, Might and Magic 3 (1991) is one of the best games in the world... its same it doesen't have videos...

My personal favorite is MM3... though MM4-5 had better music, MM3 has got the best gamplay.
Here's what the best:
Gameplay: Might and Magic 3
Graphics: Might and Magic 6-7
Music: Might and Magic 4-5
Story: Might and Magic 4-5
But please, do not discuss it here, return to the original topic

So? "Terminator 2" came out in 1991, so they could have hired a studio, unfortunately I don't think their budget allowed that

It was probably more to do with keeping the game's memory requirements on a reasonable level. Keep in mind that MM 4 and 5 were extremely high-end for their time, apparently among the first games to come out on CDs. It was hard enough for them to integrate working speech samples into the game, let alone realistic cutscenes

Movies can be pre-rendered at a small resolution without needing any kind of engine rendering. They are faster to render than any game image because it doesn't have to calculate anything (well at least if there's no compression, but for low-resolution, one wouldn't need it anyway). They are pre-calculated so to speak. Like displaying an image on the screen for a very short amount of time.

@Mytical: I'm glad you like them
@Lex: I don't have anymore, except the Spellforce 2 intro movie, but I don't know what actors I can use in it (there are 2 dark elf females and one dark elf male)

You could use H5 Cinematics/Cutscenes.
For example: Elvin fight Gabislayer (H5 Intro)

You could try looking for an ogg to avi recorder.

Of course, then we have a few problems:
1) Speech and dubbing... this was back in the 16-bit PCM sound format era, when "speech" in computer games had recently been made possible (IIRC MM4 was the first game to include something like this). Try getting CGI characters to move their lips realistically with techonology as limited as that
2) The game's atmosphere - why use CGI when you can create a lengthier cutscene using graphics similar to the game? It works in videogames today, but back in the eighties it was somewhat out of the question
3) MM4 and 5 were not low-resolution games (but which kind of resolution do you mean? image, digital?) - they were fullscreen
4) As aforementioned, they could probably not afford / be bothered with doing anything of the sort.

I know you are talking about computer games, but 'speech' was done in the early 1980's in games.
