You ever see a group of girls who are out to lunch or something? Maybe you're by yourself, like I usually am on my lunch break. I usually go to this one mini-mall type place with a food court and girls usually hang out there.

Now, depending on the types of girls, this can be hard to set up. You also have to be reasonably attractive where girls are not completely disgusted by you and avoid you at all costs.

If you're in high school, it's even EASIER, because high school girls tend to be snowty and will say anything to get some random dude's attention.

My most recent experience was yesterday. There were a group of high school girls, who claimed they were seniors, coming to our state capital for an event called "Reach." I think it's some motivational career event for kids.

These girls were eating in the food court and I bought some pizza and sat near them. I guess there were about 10 of them, and most were reasonably attractive. I was all by myself because I don't really have any friends at my job or in the city.

Anyway, I guess I was looking particularly lonely and cute, and one of the chubbier, less attractive girls said, "Hey, kid, why are you sitting by yourself?"

At this point, normally, I would be terrified. I've been called out by a girl in a large group. I have to say something funny or witty. I can't say something pathetic. But I had nothing.

But, almost reflexively, and in retrospect I assume it's because I've been playing GTA4 for two weeks straight, I said:

"I'm sorry. My english it... not so good?"

I could almost see an immediate shift in this girl's attitude. Her face suddenly filled with sympathy. Another girl, an attractive blonde (kind of looked like Scarlett Johanson) with PERFECT boobss, chimed in after she heard.

"Oh wow! Where are you from? Do you want to sit with us?"

So I said, with my best Niko Bellic impression, "Yes. That would be nice."

So I got up and sat with them. It was at the end of the table, and not all of them really seemed to pay attention to me. The chubby girl, Kate, was to my left and the blonde girl, Helena, was on my right. I introduced myself as Nicolai because that's all I could think of at the moment.

There were two okay looking girls sitting beside them that seemed to be listening to the conversation the three of us were having, but I didn't introduce myself. They looked younger. They kept looking at me, though, the whole time.

Helena really seemed like she was into me, but maybe it was just because she did most of the talking. She asked me where I was from and of course I said, "Serbia. I move to America for education."

They asked me where I go to school and I said the local community college because they have a good language program. I got a scholarship to travel abroad and decided to come to America ("how you say... school ship? You know, free money?" "OH! You mean scholarship!" "Yes, that is word") I want to translate for refugees from Kosovo. Honestly, this was a risk, because I have no idea what's going on in Kosovo at the moment, but these two girls seemed to eat it all up.

I realized that if I talked too much I'd risk it all, so I decided to ask them some open ended questions to keep them talking. "Where is fun in America? I do not know many people." They told me about concerts and bars as if, even if I were an actual immigrant, these would be completely new concepts to me. I soon realized that these two girls were kind of dumb and said, "I have to get back to school. Thank you for everything."

They gave me a cute little wave and I was off. I just thank God that they didn't ask me to same something Serbian.
