It was a pretty nice looking opening ceremony, but I think that it was supposed to be messaging: "OUR CIVILIZATION IS SUPERIOR TO YOURS SO BOW BEFORE US!!!"
Then I just waited for the Finnish group to march by...

After that fireworks display and the scroll thing that popped out of the ground? HELL YEAH! That was awesome.
Now hopefully America will win some gold.
Enough gold to melt down so we can buy our economy back from China.

I must say that the wires and the "scroll" weren't synchronised all that good when the ex gymnastics person was running to light the olympic fire.
They say that the starting cermony alone cost as much as Finland's goverment has money at its use.

But yeah the show was unreal... so awesome except for the nations marching in for 1 and a half hour it was great .

Those light rings rising from the ground + the last torch runner are pretty damn hard to beat... they'd have to do something pretty drastic and they won't... they're ENGLISH what do you exspect?

It was awesome except the lack of dragons ( ;P) !!!
Although some parts were pretty boring some of the stuff was so amazing I almost thought ít was fake
But the swedish narrator talked some weird dialect and spammed that the thing they writed with was "Indian ink" (lol it is that in english!!!!??? It said that on a good translation site)
when they used normal ink to write things with -.-
China is a awesome country.
I cant belive some people say "The chinese cry that the Olympic Games is in China and they HATE their country, everyday is a pain in the as QQ" -.-

Yeah I hate how people never speak their mind but suddenly snow about the "Terrible situation in China" only because the Olympic Games are there now Never heard it get as much attention before.
Besides, Western countries should take a look at their own pityfull state before daring to lecture China.
But hey, Olympics is not about Politics Another reason why I hate those activists.
But yeah the show was really great, and I don't think any upcoming country will be able to top it in the upcoming 12 years.

Opening ceremony was great. I loves love drums with the lights, amazing.
Plus Italy won their first football match 3-0, and Australia drew 1-1. Results to be proud of = )

I saw bits and pieces of the opening ceremony and despite of the cool stuff like the drummers and the tai chi practitioners showing off their skills (and of course the fireworks), I was disappointed by the painting parts of it.
As for the games being the best ever, it depends on how the events pan out. They've already dug the Olympic village and the opening ceremony so we have to see if the events go as planned or not. There's no problem with the seating as there'll be a lot of sellout events (it's extremely difficult to get tickets), which leaves the athletes themselves. Pretty much the only thing that can ruin the Olympics is any drug cheats being caught out.

So it was Tai Chi after all? I thought that first but when they were all kicking and spinning I thought they were doing karate or something .

Just watched the Bicycle Racing and Spain just won it. Australia was very close though.
