Quote: Well really, your both right and wrong. The non-human parts are seperate and they have also been reduced as well...
Well, as I said. Maybe I must get into your concept a bit more. That was just a comment after a first glance.
Quote: Most of the Homm Games have generally relied on the idea "They did this because they are elves," or "He did that because he's a demon". If you reduce such cliches in this format, then you might have an interesting story with non of the speiciesism.
Yes, that's a thing I fully understand and appreciate very much. I myself am a friend of more shades of grey in next HoMM.
Quote: for want of a better word, really.
I tried to call them something else.
What about Ęsir or Vanir? They are in fact Norse gods but at least they are a sort of humanlike races rather than mythical female beings as the norns are. I think the norns would be great as high level spirits in this faction.

And nothing yet to be said about the graphics. One inovative idea that i would have really like to see in homm 5 is that each hero looks like the hero they represent in the picture, instead of them all looking the same hero in their respective faction. Long sentence, kinda blurry meaning, so it basically means each hero looks different. Other than that, other factions would be cool, but there would be a lot of overbalencing problems, and, even with 6 factions in the original game of HOMM5, some factions overbalenced the other. Somehow they need to fix it, i'll try to come up with an idea to fix it later.......

Grail creatures
each faction has a grail creature
these are creatures that act like heroes in that they can recruit creatures, but fight like a lvl7 large creature.
as for the names, the creatures are the respresentations of the single stricture that characterises the race in question. Fury for the norns, Dread for the Numador, zeal for the Carthians, Guile for the Asrin and Honour for the Jangsin.
the creatures themselves look like a combination of animals and elements. Guile is a tall three headed beast, humaniod and slender, clad in ceremonial robes, with the three heads being of a snake, a fox and an owl, very good at spell casting. Honour is a lion-like creature covered in armour with floating swords around it. Fury is a enormous bull-horned bear with axes and swords, fire coming out it its eyes and paws. Dread is a cross between a wasp, a scorpion and a snake. Zeal is a Wolf with eagles wings. obviously they are going to be much more fantastical and mystical than how i've described them.
edit: human troops are up... still need some more units.

for your carthan human units, I'd given you an idea before on the bottom of page 2.
since you still miss some, perhaps you could use them. At least the chariot could be useful, I feel.

I have, sort of.
the Juggernaut is a sort of chariot, but it is absolutely huge, containing about six people, driven by horses inside the thing. the ultimate defensive structure.

And, for the Asrin...what of skirmishers (wielding skimitars) and some camel-riding unit (or is the cataphract one?)

Warhounds sounds good, but it might need to be a unit for one of the other factions
Catapults are in the seige section, all races have them.
Cataphracts are heavy cavalry camel riders (i might make them higher) and Grenaiders I though could weild scimitars as well. Assassins could be useful, but I was saving them for a skill in Politics.

Here's a suggestion for a few factions (as expansions?) by me^^
The Tarakee
The Tarakee live in the wide steppes of the northeast (you could change the place of living easily), freely travelling through this beautiful wild lands. They live almost like nomads, and are rather nature-bound.
The Tarakee humans feel a strong bound to nature, allthough (or perhaps because of) they are mainly living by hunting and gathering, not planting crops or something like that. In tiems of war, they are vengeful and fierce, hunting down their enemies like prey.
The Tarakee spirit are very versatile, some extremely friendly and calm, others simply hungry for battle and some vile and wicked.
Humans:
Hero: Sachem/Chief
Racial: ?
Tier 1: Hunter (ranged unit)
Tier 2: ?
Tier 3: Tribe Warrior
Tier 4: Pathfinder
Tier 5: Mounted Hunter
Tier 6: ?
Tier 7: Mastodon rider
Spirits:
Hero: Medicine Man
Racial: ?
Tier 1: Bohpoli (small ranged creature)
Tier 2: Cetan (Flying unit)
Tier 3: Wendigo (melee, strong aginst humans)
Tier 4: Tlahuelpuchi (Vampiric unit, storng agaisnt humans)
Tier 5: Chepi (Incorporeal flying melee unit)
Tier 6: Thunderbird (Large flyer unit)
Tier 7: A seene ki wakw (large melee creature)
others will follow, ran out of time -.-

I am actually really impressed! thank you so much, I am really flattered that someone is helping me out on this!
might need a bit of tweaking (mastodon's and mammoths are so close to each other that there might be a problem, but whats to stop us from using dinosaurs?) but otherwise, Well done, thankyou very much!

the numador had dinosaurs, so iavoided them here, but maybe other (prehistoric) beasts? f.e. bisons?
...also, I have ideas for several miore factions fitting in your systems, f.e. a "celtic" one, an Inuit-like faction, an Aboriginie-like faction, and more
...I think one could also very good make a pair of christian/anti-christian factions here...

Quote: the numador had dinosaurs, so iavoided them here, but maybe other (prehistoric) beasts? f.e. bisons?
maybe, but dinosaurs could work. vegatarian dinosaurs, like brachiasaurus, would be interesting, providing an interesting dynamic between them and the more militant Numador

What I tried to do was include as broad a faction base as possible, the norns are not only vikings, but they encompass celts, saxons and huns in their ethnic group. its reflected in the spirits as well, with firbolgs being a traditional celtic creature, and the fairies being more celtic and woad covered.
the numador also have the aborigine australians mixed in, as well as aztecs. the Bunyip is a australian creature, similar to firbolgs.
a christian/anti-christian faction would be difficult to do... not in terms of human units, that would be easy (templars, zealots, inquistors) but in terms of spirits (you can only have so many angels). the anti-christian faction is the opposite problem, as it would mostly be demons, with a few human followers.
However, what would be interesting would be a Russian faction. that would have an equal mix of spirits and humans, which could include poleviks, vampires, werewolves and others.

that could be interesting...
as could an anti-christian faction, which is also wuite easy to make, take some fanatic human units and demons as spirits...

you can't really have an anti-christian faction without falling into the one thing that i'm trying to avoid, the classic "Good vs Evil" split between the factions. It won't really matter if it's salvation, it's still demons whose logical campaign will mainly be the usual slaughter, rape, desecrate, make sims 3, rinse and repeat.

that brings me into an interesting concept. Watch ot for
The Lyrians:
The Lyrians are united by Faith.
The Lyrians origin in the Carthan lands, but have been driven away from them a couple of centuries ago. Now they dwell south of them, but still cannot forget their loss, which also brought together the two earlier opposing factions inside the Lyrians.
The Lyrian humans are highly devoted and faithful, and feed from their huge crop farming areas. They are usually extraordinary brave and rather prideful.
There are very different Lyrian spirits, since especially those had been arch enemies in the longer past, but now having lost their homelands has made them allies.
Humans:
Tier 1: Pilgrim
Tier 2: Watchman
Tier 3: Crusader
Tier 4: Witchhunter
Tier 5: Inquisitor
Tier 6: ?
Tier 7: Templar
Hero: Paladin
Racial: Training (pilgrim>watchman>crusader(>?)>templar; witchhunter>Inquisitor(>?))
Spirits:
Tier 1: Imp
Tier 2: Gargyll
Tier 3: Saint Spirit
Tier 4: Succube
Tier 5: Guardian/Cherub
Tier 6: Pit Spawn
Tier 7: High Angel
Hero: (Grey) Cleric
Racial: ?(perhaps some blessing skill?)
