well, don't worry, they'll fix it in 3.2, which judging by 3.1 should come out sometime in june 2009

No it can't. Instead it gets no retaliation when it would normally trigger blindness that seems a better 'middle' way.

This pisses me off...

EDIT:
When I start the new map I get the multiplier, but with time (as i play the map longer) I get only -1 to morale :/

So, I take it my copy is the only one that has a ton of bugs...

Like, when I get to the last tier as a dark elf I get the proper dragon, after building the upgrade building, the old upgrade replaces the base creature and the other two boxes are left empty.   I have the same types of problems with all the races, no archmages with academy and one of the orcs units is the same...

Remove custom maps and/or mods. A game alone cannot have these bugs.

What..? If so I'm pretty sure it's a fix to counter the ring/staff ownage Or you use mods.

Genesis has that effect

It's wise to play with no maps in the Map folder except the current one you play, because some Maps affect the game.

rule nr. 1
only have 1 map in map folder when you play (only the current one you play)

Cause some map got plenty of custom things added...
so what you should do is to make an /map_temp folder put all usermade maps into that folder.... and just copy/paste (to your original map folder when you play....
that way I'm sure you get rid of some strange "bugs"
and for the ring of speed (on genesis) yes thats a mod  (I made it).
just to get rid of the staff/ring of speed abuse......

You know there is sooooooooooooooo much wrong with this game's balance, you would think somebody at Nival would consult the HOMM community for advice...

Anywhooooo ...I'm still new here and I thought I'd run a few other balance suggestions past you guys and hear what you think???

-- Like... the Dwarven Guard Post regenerating guards instead of 1000-and-a-crap number guarding the base each time you fight it.

-- Ingvar not applying his bonus to the guards.

-- And those damn 1st-Tier dwarves can lose a few things to

-- Dungeon's Ritual Pit improve growth rates faster and for another tier (BTW im a dungeon player)

-- And improve the haven. Period!

-- MAKE FINE RUNE DISAPPEAR

If you haven't noticed I have a lot of hate for 'em dwarves

Stop whining like that and Haven is a very powerful faction

If you don't know how to play with it doesn't mean they should improve it (btw, I agree with the Ritual Pit to improve growth faster, but NOT for other tiers)

Overall it seems the major hatred around here is for warpath, flaming arrows, DV, and stalkers .

And the Dwarves... I'm still pretty n00bish when it comes to HOMM5 but don't you think they are alittle overbearing esp with those crazy runes???

As a matter of fact, I do believe those runes are a little overpowered (either that, or are too cheap), but what you suggest is too much nerfing for Fortress IMO

I do agree about Ingvar not giving his bonus to the Defenders from the Guard Post. It's simply not fair even compared to other Dwarven Heroes.
