i'd take visions, disguise, dimension door (duh.. i got tired walking ~5 kilometers to home almost every day) fly, and frost ring. oh, and cure might be handy too.

Having 'Implosion' would be a pretty killer spell to use on people  . 'Hypnotize' would make getting what I want A LOT easier  . Why not just throw 'Animate Dead' and 'Resurrect' in there for some fun!

Lightning bolt would be cool  but dimension door/teleport would probably be more useful

My choice would be MIRTH, as i will live in a state of constant happyness.
Itīs suiting for both worlds:
*in real life i would never be worried
*in the game i could be defeated but still have a shining smile
Example:
Whisper: Pei...come to my office please...
At loud: Is there something wrong boss?
Louder: ur fired!
(awaiting my turn)cast mirth
Shout: i give a snow (laughing like a mad man)
Perhaps after this realistic conversation takes place we could all start dancing in the walls & roof like David Bowie...but thatīs another story....
BTW...I could really do that pose, you know the one in the spell book where the little man is like holding a beer at the sky while touching his noble parts...yep that would be me..no one dares to fight a man that simply gives a snow..

You actually have to control the town for town portal to work... but I guess that's what summon (insert) elemental or animate dead is for

Doesn't seem like alot of people read the first post .. if you could choose one spell
For me it would probably have to be hypnotize .. get into any situation and out of any situation without any trouble at all

hah. you forgot i got way too many hit points. so this spell will affect nobody

There are a lot of good options, but resurrection has to stand out. In games the lives of your creatures are not all that important; they can be replenished, you can even reload from a save where the ones you lost were still alive.
In real life, death is irreversible, and to cancel that fact would mean ultimate power. Magic is ultimately pursued for power, and although I think a lot more highly of violence than most, the power to create is a lot more tempting than that to destroy.

For all those who have chosen resurrection as the 'one' spell, you do realize you can't cast ressurection once you're dead
