Because I listen to russian in american movies where they are in 9/10 cases the bad guys and then I just make up words with them.
I know how russian sounds, or atleast I think I do.
This is some fake russian I came up with while writing this:
"Petrozkowa brawviznislava krozchnovogrod rusnabarob bratizchnok braznobrovme." Yes, I find it hard to make up short Russian words.
I do however, have invented a language for a novel I am writing, similar to what Tolkien did with his elves. But I can't speak it fluently, I need to look up my word document on it to write anything. xD It sounds like this:
"Rayvaoen pirad" (It sounds like this. Rayv = Sound. Verb = -a. It = -oen. It sounds = Rayvaoen. Like this/that/you whatever = Pirad. The second word is never bent in any way.)
It sounds like this = Rayvaoen pirad. It should be noted that like this etc is a single word in aevlonian)

French, english, a bit of russian and a tiny bit of german.
those are long russian words. but with cyrillic letters sometimes counting for 2-3 roman letters, russian words often look short.

I see what you did tharrr.
I 've almost seen all casi in Polish and Russian. Soon plural, then aspects and then... The world!
Well, vocabulary feels like pulling teeth, but whatevs.
Oh, and the languages I speak somewhat decently are still Dutch, French and English. I understand German... Somewhat...
EDIT: Oh, and Xerox, as a Germanic you are pronouncing it wrong... Always...
And the greatest Russian-speaking hero is Sean Connery in "the hunt for red october," of course.

Wow. That's an impressive undertaking. Which came first, the novel or lang.?
You probably already know this but just in case; you might be very interested in an essay he wrote called "A Secret Vice". He also wrote another called "English and Welsh".
Good luck
Edit=spelling and I speak English and have a broken-Spanish of Cuban leaning.

I speak English.
I used to be very proficient at reading and somewhat proficient at speaking German. But sadly those days appear to be behind me.
Still, I catch myself saying "Ach du Lieber!" every now and then so maybe it hasn't totally left me.

Nah, actually I have not completed any Tolkien book.
The book came first and then the language. I realized that it would be much funnier if I had the names of all lands and towns etc in a new, unique language rather than in english/swedish.

Languages I speak:
- Polish (native)
- English (on the same level of proficiency as natives, as I have lived in the UK for 5 years.)
- Finnish (intensively learning it now, intermediate at present moment I would say, I love that language)
- Lithuanian (tourist level, wish to carry on learning in the future)
- French (for 4 years at school, I dislike it's random and unphonetic pronounciation, just like English really...)
I would love to learn:
- Romanian
- Icelandic
- Estonian
- Hungarian

lol, that's crazy how good are people at speaking foreign languages on this forum. in reality, most people already seem to have trouble speaking their own native language. many people I know can't write french without mistakes.

@Fauch - The issue about French that makes even natives have trouble writing it properly, is the random and far from phonetic spelling, with 50% of a word not being pronounced like "beaucoup" that's pronounced "bocu". It's just as random in English, however.
