I do like latin lyrics, some techno from 80's and some 90's

I have orchestral music from immediate music, wanted x ray dog but barely found a way to get them.

I have 5.4 GB of mixed(80% being classic).I doubt that I can beat 30 GB though.

I have no problem with instrumentals or beats, sometimes I can take a fair bit of nonsense, just as long as it is not too mainstream, but I like the idea of music with a message.

Long story short, I'm fond of good melodies and instrumentation, but good lyrics are also a big deal to me.  I didn't find lyrics to be very important when I first got into music, but that changed over the years.  My musical tastes broadened, and I started listening to more than just Top 40 material.  It was like tapping into a new world and discovering the finer points of good songwriting within.  It was a gradual realization, but it eventually emerged in my thinking.  By then, I had written several dozen original songs (all lyrical) that I ended up rejecting.  Since then, I wanted to emulate the style and depth of the many songwriters I've grown to admire.  I can't say I'm there yet, but it remains one of my most passionate goals.

I've come to appreciate songs that make me think.  Songs with ambiguous meanings that can be interpreted in different ways also interest me.  I think it's good to have subtlety in songwriting.  If the lyrics are too obvious all the time, then that's one less dimension a piece of music could have boasted.  Another thing I've noticed is that "songs from the heart" come out so naturally from your average person (myself included) that the messages themselves aren't very deep at all.  For example, love songs that are written on a whim just flow out of a person, perhaps as a way of expressing how he/she felt at the time.  But since it occurred so spontaneously, the person might have to go back and rework the lyrics before it can be considered presentable.  It's happened to me and I hear it from a lot of other people.  Not everyone can be Bob Dylan.

I occasionally listen to alternative radio, but I can barely tolerate the mainstream stations.  I hate to sound subjective about it, but most of the R&B and hip hop songs I've heard over the past few years have failed to impress me.  To be fair, there are good R&B and hip hop songs out there, but they're shamefully outnumbered by an appalling majority.  I'm not too keen on either genre, but the overall quality of the lyrics often stands out negatively in my mind.  Some of the worst, in my opinion, are songs where the singer addresses someone else in the first person.  Songs by Justin Timberlake and Rihanna, as well as tons of others, immediately come to mind.  The songs are like a rant (oftentimes sung about a broken relationship) in a very conversational manner.  It's like Jerry Springer: The Musical.  The same applies to various rock songs, as well.  It's a shame, but that's pop music for you.

I think they forgot to listen to the Beatles."

Well, the "omg you left me but i'm strong blah blah blah" are a plague of polish music. All of young talented people end up singing the same old sh*t here, it's so boring and with such ridiculous lyrics that I consider it the ultimate FAIL music around.

If I want a deep meaning though, I read poetry. Music is for something else, imho.

The rythm, the message, or sometimes just the video can get me to listen to a song.  Yeah, I like the 'popular' music, but I also like some obscure music, and old music as well. Everything from Classical to Death Metal has at least one or two songs I like.

I hate music without lyrics...

Except for a select few.

Like Chili Peppers instrumental "Song That Made Us What We Are Today", a few Justice songs etc.

I never got into poetry, for some reason.  It must be too English Lit for my taste.  Unless poetry is sung to instrumentation that appeals to me, I tend to ignore it altogether.  I like a lot of songs with lyrics that could pass as poetic writing, but show me their non-musical counterparts and you'll have cured my insomnia.

I love the music more than the lyrics... my favourite band has one of the most stupid lyrics on the history of rock&roll (most because the drugs they were consuming when they create the songs)... but the music is just awesome and inmmersive... that's what I need to like a song... the music... a very nice raw guitar... no matter if they say nonsense...

of course there are some songs that have a lot o meaning for me because the lyrics... but mostly I love a song for the music and the melody that can make the instruments with a voice... no matter if the messages is something like... "where were you when we are getting high???"

I have to say that I'm a rock&roll person... but hell, how not enjoy that??

it remember me a lot the heroes games music, specially the ones from heroes 2... that I have on my random play list always but this one with a assian touch...  start with relaxing sounds like a green field with birds and plants and envolve to a dramatic end, very nice

I'm don't know much about that kind of music... but I always enjoy it when I have the chance

Yes it does remind you of heroes (or rather video game) music because it's a soundtrack genre (movie & game soundtracks, in this case, it's from a movie). I like those songs because they have that impact on you, since they're made specifically for that mood (whatever happens on screen should be portrayed in music).

Well duh. Ever seen the movie, Troll 2? That has music in places where it just isn't suitable, which makes it the whole lot more funnier.

I also think that Electronic songs (I always mention these ) can also have an impact similar to SoundTracks.

I don't know. Electronic music is a "genre". A soundtrack with electronic instruments is usually different. But I agree it's a lot better than the techno & metal & industrial & you know stuff out there that just IMO isn't even "music", just "beats".

I know I'm getting sidetracked here, but why do you think that metal is just beats? I can understand people who don't like metal because it's too loud and violent and they can't listen to the music itself because of it, but metal is much too complex to be called "beats".
