Not exactly sure why my last post didn't show up...
Anyways, if you haven't tried the original Sacred you can still get it and its expansion on STEAM for $10. Get a lot of game for the value.

I played Sacred 1.
It wasn't that bad, but not exceptional either, it just got a little boring after a while (maybe that's the case with Hack & Slash RPGs )
And Sacred 1 was very buggy, especially in Multiplayer. I think it was the most buggy game I have ever played... if you look at the "Bug Fixes" in that big patch, you'll see what I mean (and even after the patch a lot of bugs were still present)

Aside from some choppiness, it ran fine for me.
As to the repetivie nature, you're correct. They are all like that.

I am not a big fan of hack and slash games with absolutely no emphasis on hardcore RPG elements, but such games prove to be a good way to mindlessly waste your time when you have nothing better to do. Click click, mob down, loot, sell, click click. It tends to become boring after a while.
Sacred 1 was a softcore h&s, and quite enjoyable. Downloading the demo now to see what changes (hopefully, good ones) have been made to the core concept.

I kinda like the game. I played Sacred 1, but my copy was bugged so I wasn't able to finish the game. I would like to try Sacred 2 anyways, looks cool. So I thought the said release date is on October 2, is that a spoof or what?

Come on, you have to open up the console just to take some water to a wounded guy (which is a main quest). And I remember that time when I got to the final boss, killed him and nothing happened.
Sacred suffered heavily from what I like to call the VTM: Bloodlines syndrome - apparently, the development team thought that human beta testers are impractical and decided to hire squid to test the game instead. Though I think that even a bloody squid would notice that you can't finish THE MAIN BLOODY QUEST.
And the goblins... argh... from goblins at the beginning, over regular goblins, ice goblins, all the way to the final boss's little goblin helpers, those little screechy things caused damage to my brain which remains until today.
I see them whenever I close my eyes...
Spent a lot of time with the game, though. Catchy as hell.

Exactly what happened to me as well, but I can't believe some really say it didn't have any bugs (like Omega and some others at CH)
I don't know what's happening here, but it's like we have two different versions of Sacred

Well, I just got the game in August on STEAM. I'm assuming after 4 years they got most of the bugs worked out. The only mission I could never finish was this weird painting one that wouldn't let me return a painting I had in my inventory. Other than that, I didn't have any problems with quests.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for old games. These days, the new games just lack a certain awe about them. Why I remember way back playing a game called Think Quick and you had to do just that, think quick!. Otherwise the slime worms would eat you and you'd have to avoid their stomach acid. If you did all that, you could steal the magic keys away from the owl, create a knight, and slay the dragon. That's how games were played back then and we liked it! We loved it! Look at me! I've got a magic key so I can-*Old man Omega falls asleep during rant about games these days.*

Apparently nobody has any idea of when the game is released. I've seen it as mid-November and March 31, 2009 on Amazon.com, so I decided to cancel my preorder. No point in wasting money on uncertainty.

10 February 2009 for PC. The November one seems to be for X360.
