Five Years of HC
That's right. Another year - another Mvass thread. And again I have missed my registration date - Oct. 3. But don't worry, I'm not going to go on a "golden old ages" rant this time. Quite the opposite. I wish to commend both the current and past members of HC for making it what it is. We have a lot of excellent posters that keep it active and fun. We have an excellent mod team - if you don't believe me, go and look at other message boards. We have an admin who cares about us. It's great.  To all of you that have made HC fun, thanks. The Tavern is the pillar of responsible fun, the OSM is the pillar of discussion, the HoMM boards are the pillar of ideas - and the Wastelands are the waste lands between. 
HC, I'm not leaving. At least, not yet. This is just to commend you on your high level of fun and intellectual stimulation. Good job. Our past provides us with a strong foundation, our present is a time of enjoyment, and our best days are still ahead of us. The Golden Old Ages shall be replaced by the Age of Beyond Gold, whatever that may be. I hope that I will participate in it when it comes.
But why such a tone? Why "I hope"? Some of you may have noticed that my activity has dropped a bit lately. That is because of school. It is taking up more and more of my time, and I have no desire to let my grades suffer. The last couple of years (that is, the 07-08 and the [so far] 08-09 school years) appear to be less filled with suckitude that the previous nine years. In fact, some of it is actually fun, and gives me even more opportunity to hang out with my friends, instead of being shut up in my room writing ridiculous essays. Nevertheless, my workload is increasing. I have to apply to universities, which also takes up time. And then I'll go to a university, and I expect my time to be well-occupied there. So my activity levels might drop further. But I hope that I will not become as busy as to actually leave HC. Should that happen, though, I will create a thread about it (if I have the time ), and tell you all.
But I digress. Good job, HC. You win my seal of approval.

He is indeed 7 years around with a post count of 28; i.e. 4 posts per year. So, his comment on your thread should honor you, coz he just spent 1 out of 4 for this year!

Great thing to see that some of the "older" members do not have the cynical old man mentality: "In my day everything was better! Now everything has gone all wrong with those damn kids and their internets and skateboards!"
I'm relatively new, but I say HC is a good forum with a good community and I think that your speech was very one sided and not mentioning that the feeling here can sometimes be rather lame.

And yes, HC is my favorite community 
@mvass: I hope you'll find some time to post at HC here and there.

I came to HC back when I was in Highschool which was about 7 or 8 years ago. Like Woock I remember very little. I know at one point the Tavern was pretty much like the Wastelands is today only with slightly less useless SPAM.
Like everything though, I think HC has gotten better with time.

HC was a different environment.
Maybe it was funner because we was basically kids ourselves.

HC is the BEST forum on the internet.
There are so many dedicated fans here, willing to spend thousands of hours for the perfect manuals. There are mods willing to create long "table of contents" threads and watch for ANY CoC breaking.
There are intelligent people (much more intelligent than many guys I know in RL), soem with a great sense of humour.
I don't care if I'll spend my retirement in a center of desintoxicationHCification, for now I want to spend my time here.
