My vote goes to the vertically handicapped brick wall of Fortress. 
Since they're rock solid and Fortress already suffers from poor diveristy in units why not replace castle walls with Shieldgurads? You need better catapult ammo? Might as well dispatch them on the battlefield as terrain obstacles. Summon spell Rain of Shieldguards or maybe Shieldguards popping from underneath the ground? The possibilities are endless yet never boring
PS: also, they're the only Fortress unit that match the characteristics of a dwarf

Beserkers wanting more damage? I just thought they were drunk psychopaths.(How is it holy water made the keepers drunk?Did someone fill the fountain with alchohol ?Well one thing for sure,they have to stay away from the car and police.Errr,they don't have cars in HoMM5.Alright they have to stay away from the hor--err mammoth and the dwarven police.)Either way,they will get mad.

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. The fans have spoken, and Godzilla has championed over the other Fortress creatures. The Magma Dragon will be advancing to the fashion finals, and everybody else can go home.

Speaking of which... where did all of the ale go? WHY ARE THOSE INQUISITORS DUMPING IT DOWN THE DRAIN? What... my Rune Matriarch's are being taken away! They were a gift! Guards! Guards!

The Haven heroes have just arrived, let's just on with the show.
Maeve: This young ladies father has her suited up a set of full platemail, with a titanium and magically enhanced lock that is 100% pick proof. If Maeve wins this competition, a special person can insert a key that will free her from her platemail! Isn't that romantic?
Dougal: Dougal is increasingly concerned about his receding hairline, and fears that it will lose him the competition. However, he has come in his finest attire, and hopes to win this competition.
Ellaine: You will have to excuse this woman if she is shy. She has done nothing for the past several years other than to sit in the Haven garrison with a bunch of taxpaying peasants. In fact, she's never actually fought anybody before. But what she lacks in combat, she makes up for in purple!
Irina: Irina refused to participate in this competition because she thinks it's vain. Fortunately, the Ancient Treant busdrivers that still haven't gotten around to leaving entangled her outside and she will now be in the competition again. Let's hear it for Irina!
Klaus: Baby-faced Klaus here enjoys jousting, lancing, and horseback riding. He's also the one that ordered the inquisitors to dump the ale, so remind me to kill him later or else I'll forget.
Laszlo: You can draw a map of the world on Laszlo's back with all of his scars. Unlike other hero's, this guy just charges headlong into battle like everybody else and has somehow survived. You should know that the following picture is after our team of cosmetic artists dressed him up:
Rutger: If Rutger looks like he is confused and has no idea where he is, it's because he has no idea where he is. Rutger suffers from severe Alzheimer's disease and spends his life wandering around the world aimlessly. Fortunately, he happens to be very good at it and the Griffin Empire decided to employ him.
Vittorio: This guy is the worst enemy of the priests and the other hero's. Whenever he isn't on the battlefield, he is a magnet for every woman in a ten mile radius. This lovable Mexican Haven hero would ravishingly like your vote amigos!
