F.E.A.R. 2

I must say that this was the news of the day! I just fund out that FEAR 2 is comming..
Man, this is what the game market needs! A real horror game, that's able to make geeks snow theire pants!

I have played FEAR 1 a thousand times, but still i remember the first time! (Where you didn't know which places alma showed up to scare the gamers) It was shure fun, and i loved the graphics when you fired a gun and just destroyed everything, and left it destroyed in a dust cloud..
It's the only game that has given me shocks (Doom 3 did once, but that is because i hate spiders in dark rooms).
Fear is a great shooting game, and a great horror game, and had great graphics (Overall "GREAT") (Metacritic overall score: 88)

And now a FEAR 2 ;p That just made my day

Actually its F.E.A.R.2: Project Origin.
First F.E.A.R. was great indeed.

Huh? F.E.A.R 2 : Project Origin?

I thought the reason they called it Origin from the start was that they had a copyright problem on the name... Vivendi owns the name "F.E.A.R." while Monolith holds all the characters and the the universe...

EDIT:

You've got to love the new blood...

Does a normal human even contain such an amount of blood...? It's awesome anyway

Woow! If that pic is from in-game, the enemies contain lots of blood, just whaiting to be splatted out on walls and floors..
Slowmotion + somekind of shot/pump gun = Bloodbath => Great fun

Oh yeah! Slash everything up with the katana.. But maybe that kind og weapons doesn't belong in a modern shooting game..

Lets give the swords and all that stuff to Dante and Nero..

Well, there's always been melee combat you know... and the game does have removable bodyparts

But you're right, it's better to not overcomplicate things...

Hmm, there was a laser-weapon in one of those crappy F.E.A.R. expansions right? I remember something about being able to chop off bodyparts with that thing...

Hehe, even though they sucked, I still remember the minigun from one of the expansion demos... man that was awesome.

Well Radar! F.E.A.R. is a unnatural game, heroes is a unnatural game, so unnatural ammounts of blood in FEAR isn't that bad, but yes, there can be too much.
If Call of Duty series had lots of blood, the game wouldn't be fun at all.

Also, imagine what Alma could do to people with that blood graphic... the horror scenes in this game is gonna be fantastic.

FEAR's AI was amazing, but the new one is even better. For example, some soldiers might make sensational actions in their last breaths. A soldier that is set on fire might run straight across the room and haul himself out the window. If there's water in the area, he'll of course try to quench the fire. For example, if there's a small pool of water, he'll throw himself to the ground and roll in the water... not many games have that.

I also like how the player can now interract with the enviroment in the same way that the AI does. Remember how enemies pulled shelves down as protection and jumped over tables in that stylish holllywood way? You'll be able to that, and probably tons of more too

Yeah scripting... but pretty damn awesome scripting imo. If you look at today's games they haven't really progressed that much in comparison to good old FEAR.

FEAR's AI has been praised over and over again. If you've played FEAR you know that an area is never the same, the AI acts based on their damage, ammo, your position, your aggression etc.

Of course it's scripting, but the enviroments are extremly well made to support the AI package.

Unless you're some kind of robot who does exactly the same thing over and over again you'll always have a new experience.

EDIT: Also... umm... I haven't ever heard about a game that doesn't have a scripted AI... that would be a revolution, Skynet armageddon.

try HL2. No scripting there in the AI's behavior.

No, I think you're wrong. It's impossible.

You may call it non-scripted but in the end, the AI is only responding to information that YOU or the enviroment is giving to it.

In theory, a non-scripted AI could suddenly think "hey, I don't need to be in this game, I'll go play around on the internet instead"

If it's impossible for it to think that way, it has been given information prohibiting it to do that, it is scripted. There's no way around it.

Non scripted AI is impossible, otherwise we'd heard something about it on the news... you know, computers evolving by themselves... Skynet/SHODAN armageddon... do you get me?

I'm afraid F.E.A.R sucks.  I'm said to see the Blood series has been neglected for this sad excuse for a horror series.

However, for all of you who are F.E.A.R. fans, from Bluesnews.com (the site that ruined Resident Evil 5's plot):

F.E.A.R. 2 PC Demo Next Week [January 16, 2009, 12:34 pm ET] - 21 Comments

WBIE announces the complete plan for the single-player demo for F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, finally offering a release date for the Windows sample of Monolith's shooter sequel, saying it will be out alongside the console demos next Thursday, January 22. Word is: "The F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin demo will offer a glimpse of the action, terror and suspense of the full retail version of the game. Players will maneuver through bloodstained corridors and hallways from several locations in the game, as they combat through various parts of the city of Auburn, which now lays in ruin after the catastrophic explosion that rocked the finale of F.E.A.R."
