haha cow disguise that should be fun XD I don't know if that would work but they can try ... but I find very fun climbing up all the buildings specially the higher ones... then just jump down... and land making every just blow away XD that's awesome

I picked this game up after playing the PSN demo which seemed ok and upon finishing it I decided it would be fair to state my honest opinion about it. First of all the game is a fun one. I, myself, don't enjoy modern-day sandboxing games (with the exception of the GTA franchise which got me hooked from the first one) and I always tend to go for the fantasy type of games. So the first thing I liked about inFamous is the fact that you can climb everything in sight, in short the parkour aspect of the game. If the game used a melee only battle system, this system would have been rather useless, but since the game lets you choose the way you want to dispose your foes, I always like to climb the highest building and zapp-em from there... In fact, I don't think I ever stepped on the ground for a "mano i mano" fight even tho I like kicking grunts off rooftops (the only exception being the missions that force you to follow a single path not being able to climb walls). Since the game lets you choose what way is best for you to kill enemies, I would have liked a stealthier approach too (even tho the games are so unrelated, I seem to compare this game with Viking where the stealth is better) because for some wrong reason the enemies always know where Cole is. The ridiculous thing is that this is 70% true on easy mode and normal, while on hard they always know Cole's position which is rather absurd. If we're discussing small problems with the game, another would be the grippy aspect of Cole. Sometimes, let's say you want to jump off a building to trigger a story mission then get back up quick, but by pressing O, you only fall to the next ledge, instead of falling directly on the ground... it's not a big problem, in fact, it's a minor nuisance.
Gameplay: is pretty sharp and leaving aside some story missions which are mostly the same deal, some are pretty fun like I've expected. The game also includes side-missions that are somewhat repetitive but fun, like the satellite uplinks ones where (just like in Assassin's Creed) Cole has to race and reach certain checkpoints in little time using his powers or not. Upon completing side-quests you can clear a area of enemies, in fact, that's what the game says, I quote : "area cleared, enemies will not return" but in fact, they will be there in a smaller number. Other than that, I already covered the parkour aspect which is fun and gives you endless choices of completing missions.
Story: is pretty weak for a game that's supposed to be a comic-book. Huge explosion destroys a city, people are infected, crime organizations rule the districts, you're the one who can stop it all with the help of your superpowers and sidekicks, which by the way, really suck. I only have 2 things which I really didn't like in this game. One would be that the game doesn't make an emotional connection between you, the player, and the game's characters which IMO are pretty bland. There is Trish, Cole's former girlfriend which is pissed at him for killing her sister, Zeke which I dunno what's his purpose but he's supposed to be the comic relief of the game and Moya which is practically the mission giver. The rest are villains which I don't wanna spoil but them too are pretty uninspired.
Sound: The second thing that I don't like is that the game is pretty monotonous. While parkour-ing, killing grunts, or whatever, the game has NO music at all, just some experimental ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM sounds now and then. The music picks up when doing side-quest, with some trippy electronica (Amon Tobin) and is in theme when doing important story missions. Other than that, the sounds are all pretty sharp, the zapping sounds are crisp () the enemies of each district sound really cool (especially the kamikaze dust men) and the voice acting is pretty impressive, especially for Cole which sounds like an American Jason Statham which is sexy, or as Yahtzee said in his review, he sounds like rocks in a blender.
Graphics: are ok. Not impressive, but not bad either. The lightning effects are pretty cool, enemies have a cool/funny design, and overall the game's graphics do the job right in portraying a quarantine gloomy city.
While the game may not be shining in every section, it does everything decently, making it fun and a great time-waster for those waiting for other big games this summer (like me) or just for the ones seeking great endless sandboxing fun. I'm against numbers but in my head, this game gets an 8.0 and not bigger just because I like to connect with the characters and the game didn't give me a chance and also because a better, more active soundtrack would have worked ... well, better.

Good review.
I don't get why people even discuss Prototype vs Infamous... I mean, they're very different and both are great games. If I had a PS3 I'd probably get em both, but for some reason Infamous is PS3 exclusive... so silly.

Wouldn't it be better to have individual threads for games so that the thread can be about discussing that game rather than in this thread the focus shifted every time someone comes here to rave about some new game they're playing, which makes it hard to refer to an older review for discussion.

I really enjoyed Infamous, It presented the whole thing completely comic book style which works well for the subject matter and character.
but anyway
Little Big Planet
I have been playing little big planet for ages and, I have to say, it is one of the best games out there currently (until arkham asylum, brutal legends and dark siders rear their heads) because it is something very different than every other new release.
It's cute
It's undeniably adorable, from Sackboy's cute cuddly appearence to the idylic pellmell appearence of the levels. they look as though they were made out of cardboard, lego and cloth, which suits the games patchwork of game types. Level creator is a dream to use, platforming is good with lots of room to experiment with "Grab this, jump on that", the sound and music is good, with lots of catchy songs.
LBP fills a little part of you. Whilst Arkham asylum fills up the comic nerd part and Brutal legends fills the metal head part, LBP fills up the inner child, allowing you to play, create, share, destroy, laugh and runaway.
story: there is none
design: 9- it's just got so much done and so much done well that a 9 is the only score I can give it.
gameplay: 8- it's not the best platformer ever, but it's decent and retro which provides plenty of chance to experiment. It also has one of the best physics engines in a platformer, making you think about how stuff is meant to work.
graphics: 9- the game is beautiful, backgrounds, textures, animations, and all nice and fluid.
sound: 9- the music's good, with plenty of variety for people and great catchy songs. on top of that, Stephen fry was a perfect choice for the narrator.
overall: 9

I am bumping this thread because I still think a general review thread is needed that is open to all members on the forum.
Here I have tried to do a serious OBJECTIVE review of WoW: Cataclysm. Please read because I tried really hard to make it neutral and not biased on Blizzard's side.
This is how I review.
I started with some short info on if it is PC etc and then I write some sort general information about the main story, new stuff and I have different categories which I rate in for all games so this will have Story, New Features, Leveling, Level 85. Sound and PvP. Then I will create an overall score based on those six ratings for this game.
World of Warcraft: CATACLYSM
Basic Information
Name: World of Warcraft: Cataclysm aka Cata.
Type: WoW's third expansion. PC & Mac. MMORPG with 12 million players.
Release: 7th of December 2010.
Features: Revamped 1-60 content. New 80-85 content. Two new races, Goblin and Worgen. Three new PvP areas. New guild system. New secondary profession - Archaeology.
System Requirements: Not very high at all. Minimun would probably be a computer from 2003-2005.
Trial: Yes. 14 day free trial.
General Information
Cataclysm is the massive multiplayer online game World of Warcraft's third expansion. In this expansion, the former Dragon Aspect of Earth Deathwing has breached out from the Elemental Plane of Earth Deepholm and with him, caused the Shattering which has ruined much of Azeroth. With his return, the world has changed completly and so have the leaders of the Alliance and the Horde, resulting in total war between the two factions.
Cataclysm is the biggest expansion pack Blizzard has made yet. However, you do not need to buy the expansion pack to get access to what I think is half the game! The new 1-60 content has been completly revamped and upgraded to modern times and that content only requires World of Warcraft and no expansions to play through! The revamped old world easily tops the content in the Burning Crusade expansion and even the leveling in Wrath of the Lich King which was already highly praised.
What you get for actually buying Cataclysm is most importantly, five new levels and six new zones with several new raids, dungeons and battlegrounds. Players who have reached level 80 will first be sent off to the Hyjal zone where the Firelord Ragnaros threatens to incinerate the World Tree Nordrassil. Hyjal is already a wellknown place in the Warcraft lore, being a major location in the popular RTS Warcraft III. Several characters from Warcraft III reappear in Hyjal such as the Archdruid Mal'furion Stormrage and the demigod Cenarius reborn. However, players can also choose to dive into a whole new, unique zone called Vashj'ir. This is WoWs first completly underwater zone where players visit the birthplace of the deceased Naga Sea witch Lady Vashj and witness the continuation of the Naga's conquest and campaign. After completing the coherent story in Hyjal or Vashj'ir, players will get sent to the Elemental Plane of Earth itself Deepholm to try and repair the fabled World Pillar. After this players get access to the Ancient Egyptian-influenced zone of Uldum which contains a lot of mysteries from the ancient Titans! The final zone is called the Twilight Highlands and there players will face the confrontation between the Dragon queen Alextrasza herself and Deathwing, Aspect of Death.
With Cataclysm, players will also get access to two new races. The Worgen for the Alliance. The Worgen are Warcraft's werewolves and they are related Night elven druids who lived in ancient times. The Worgen starting zone of Gilneas is exclusive to them and tells the story of the human Gilneans transformation into the vile Worgen and the invasion of the mighty Forsaken under the banner of the Horde itself. The Goblins have finally officially joined the Horde under the Bligewater Cartel. They have an exclusive 1-5 and 5-10 zone known as Kezan and the Lost Isles aswell as a 10-20 zone that is accessable to all players. The story involves the Goblins getting stranded on the Lost Isles and getting caught in the middle of an Alliance versus Horde conflict there.
There is also a new Guild system which involves you leveling up your guiild. As the members of the guild do achievements, dungeons and train professions they will gain Guild experience it will unlock special perks which increases everything from movement speed to Mass teleporting a whole raid group to a choosen location. Guild leveling is not quick though and a week after release, the highest guilds are only level three or four out of 25.
There is also a new secondary profession called Archelogy. Archelogy is actually suited for higher level players, +60, with a flying mount because it involves flying all over to world to dig sites to dig up fragments that you later combine to make artifacts which will give you tons of Warcraft lore goodiness and even cool items that will turn you from a Naga to wearing Queen Azsharas very own recreated dress.
Now lets go to the more objective sections where I will rate differnet categories of the game.
Story/Questing: The story of Cataclysm did not start in the expansion. Weeks before the expansion, earthquakes could already be felt in the game as Deathwing was awakening. Some time before the release, strange cultists showed up in Orgrimmar and Stormwind which turned out to be the old Twilight's Hammer, a now apocalyptic Old God-worshipping cult led by the known Ogre magi Cho'gall who appeared in Warcraft II. These events soon led to a server-wide event where Elemental Rifts opened up all over the world and even inside capital cities. Players had to constantly close Elemental rifts and had to build barricades inside capital cities when the Elements attacked. Great heroes from previous Warcraft games returned to fight such as Rexxar, In these events, the greatest Shaman on Azeroth Thrall also had to leave the Horde to try and calm the elements. In his absence, Grom Hellscream's son Garrosh Hellscream was given the Warchief title. Despite all these events, the event leading up to Cataclysm did not feel epic to me and they missed several things such as the death of Cairne Bloodhoof. However, this was covered in the recent Warcraft novel called The Shattering, Prelude to Cataclysm.
As for the real story in the game, it has actually been amazing. Blizzard has finally learned how to use REAL cut-scenes! Yes, you actually get small cinematics just like in Warcraft 3 when you do many quests in the new zones. When I was questing in Uldum, I honestly felt like I was in the middle of a movie! The quests in the new zones are coherent and you pretty much have to do them in a specific order. The story is not randomly spread out, but again there is one big coherent story in each zone that builds up to an epic conclusion. I did not do Hyjal but Vashj'ir. Vashj'ir was a bit boring at the start. In Vashj'ir, the Naga constantly own and outnumber you. You are on their territory though, the seas. For half the zone, you hide in underwater caves collecting food and trying to survive. The second half of the zone is amazing though! Without spoiling to much, you get to see the past and for several quests become a Naga Battle-Maiden and fight in the Naga army and summoning Cthuluish minions. And for once, the conclusion of the zone does not end all that happily.
After this you get sent to Deepholm, which I did not enjoy all that much. The zone is unique. it is the first underground zone and there is no zone that looks like it. EVERYTHING is made out of stone and crystal and while this can be quite awesome, in the end the whole zone looks the same to you. There are some new quest mechanics but overall, the zone does not feel nearly as epic as Vashj'ir or Uldum.
Uldum's story is both serious and hilarious. Blizzard shows that they know their humor very well and much of the zone is basically an Indiana Jones movie where Blizzard have even made a parody on the Nazis called the Schnotz which speak English mixed with German. It is hilarious and there are tons of cut-scenes here! Blizzard has invented several new types of quests. Some of those include turning into a Sun orb and kill 1000 Gnomes by rolling over them, controlling your own army, defeating enormous Colossi and getting into absolutely ridiculous disguises. Uldum was the best zone I have ever done.
The final zone, the Twilight Highlands, was a disappointemnt for me. Trust me when I say there will be a lot of Alliance VS Horde conflicts. Half the quest details the conflict between the Dragonmaw Orcs and the native Wildhammer dwarves! The Twilight's Hammer and Deathwing do not feel very threatening do Deathwing does appear in an epic fight with the dragon queen Alexstrasza which was the highlight of the zone. To me, the Naga feel far more threatening than Deathwing after witnessing the conclusion of their story in Vashj'ir.
I will not discuss the new 1-60 content but it is amazing and you should really try it. I am not going to cover 50 zones there but 99% of all the old zones have been completly remade and it will suprise you if you were dissapointed with the questing before.
The story and questing in Cataclysm gets 4/5 because Blizzard has finally realized how amazing their cut-scenes are but it is a disappointment that there is little voice acting (though there still is a million times more and better voice acting than in previous expansions!) and two of the zones, did not live up to my expectations. Also, it is never good when a sub-plot race feels more threatening than the main villian in the expansion.
The questing is howver amazing and far better than anything they previously have done. Blizzard makes a perfect line between drama, tragedy and comedy.
Leveling: Leveling 80-85 is probably easier than in Wrath of the Lich King. I only really died because I failed once. There was only a single series of group quests in all of the six zones so you can certainly solo through all of the zones fine but Blizzard has also made it possible to level together in a group with friends while still gaining experience et cetera.
The leveling has mainly proved because of the way Blizzard has structured the zones. Previously, you had quests spread out all over the zones and there were several minor quest-lines in the zone and not one, big coherent story. Now, you go from area to area where there are a bunch of quests. There ate no spread out questa anymore. You complete one area of quests in the zone and then go to the next. The quest tells you exactly where to go and you can even look on the map to see the location of the objectives.
What you will notice while leveling is that you will literally get the health of a boss. You will get like 10k health every level. At level 85, my Hunter currently has over 100k health. However, there is still a problem that has always existed in WoW. There are still these "Kill 10 X" mobs and "Pick up 10 Carrots" types of quests and though there are less of these and those that remain often have a twist, they still exist. These kind of grinding quests can get a little frustrating sometimes but overall, the leveling has improved A LOT due to heavy streamlining in the zones now. It is impossible to get lost and confused now. It may even have become a little bit too easy because those epic questlines of old that stretched over several zones, are ALL gone. Not a single questline like that exists anymore. The leveling in Cataclysm gets 4.5/5 because of these reasons. I have never experienced such as smooth and fun leveling.
New Features: The new features I am going to cover are the Goblins, Worgen, Archeology and Guild Leveling. So Blizzard has once again made two new races. In the Burning Crusade expansion, Blood elves were given to the Horde and the alien Draenei to the Alliance. The Draenei were really a fail. They were not intergrated into Azeroth and they still feel very out of place. They almost do not appear in any zone and they have not done anything significant since The Burning Crusade. This time, Blizzard has really intergrated the Goblins to the Horde and the world and they really feel a part of it. The Worgen have also been fairly intergrated, but far below that of the Goblins and even the Blood elves in recent times.
The Goblins and Worgen are TOTALLY different! The Goblin starrting zone is a 100% comedy and parodies. At level 1, you are basically on your way to become the next Trade Prince or Princess and you go around trying to sell Kaja'Cola. You get a freaking car in level 2
and the whole Goblin 1-5 zone is a parody of American stereotypes.
If you want Warcrafr to remain serious though, then look to
Gilneas. Gilneas is probably the darkest zone in World of Warcraft and you actually start as a human and not a Worgen in the capital city, Greymane City. Soon, feral Worgen invade the city and you end up getting bitten and becomign locked inside a cell since you became a Worgen. A cure to your feral insticnts is soon found and Worgens are the first race that can swap between two races. Worgens can turn into both human form and worgen form but when they get into combat, they are forced to release their rage and become Worgen. The Worgen also do not have any racial mount. They ARE the mount. Their mount is you getting on all four paws and running really, really fast.
The Worgen zone is almost tragic. First you lose your capital city, then the town that rescued you is attacked by Forsaken undead and then it is sunk beneath the ocean along with most of the surrounding terrain. The whole zone turns into a battlefield between your own very race trying to survive the Forsaken's plague and immortal armies and it is heartbreaking to as a high level player, return to the new zone called the Ruins of Gilneas.
Though the Gilnean zone is excellent and really makes you HATE the Forsaken and the Horde for what they do, the 10-20 zone and the rest of the Worgen experience is disappointing. You want nothing more than fighting back the Forsaken and reclaim your homeland but instead, you get sent to the Night elven lands and help Druids in Darkshore. You do not even get to experience the contiunation of your very own race story but instead, Forsaken players get to see its next step around level 15-20. That sucks balls. Thrall's balls.
Archeology is the new secondary profession and it is actually adapted to higher level players as it involves you flying around all over the four continents in the game trying to find digsites. There you survey and dig up fragments that you make into artifacts. There are 9 different races in archeology that you can research on. You can do all at the same time. You combine fragments to make Artifacts, which at the start is a really bad uncommon item but gives you A LOT of history and lore about the race and in the end, you will get really cool and good items from the proffession. It is REALLY time-consuming and addicting though so a warning to that!
The new Guild system is only avaible to those with Cataclym and now you can actually level up your guild up to 25. Each level gives you a perk such as increasing reputation gains or ressurecting a whole raid group of 25 people after all of you die horribly in a raid dungeon. Each level takes some time though, but there is a daily or weekly cap so you will probably reach the cap if you have an active guild. It really brings the guild together though.
So overall, the Goblin zone is hilarious and they really feel part of Azeroth and the Horde but sometimes it can get a little bit to much comedy. Blizzard does a great job making the Worgen the complete opposite of the Goblins as a super serious almost tragic and very dark rac but it totally sucks you are not allowed to fight for your nation as a Worgen. Archeology is a very fun side-thing to do that is not mandatory but it may be a bit time consuming but I guess that is actually the point of it. The big, bad thing about the new Guild system is that now, you MUST have a guild or you miss A LOT of things. Seriously, the bonuses helps A LOT and are really powerful at higher levels. You miss out way to much without a good guild now.
The new features in Cataclysm actually only gets 3.5/5 because I am angry at Blizzard for not letting my young Worgen fight back the Forsaken and I just realized, that the guild bonuses are to powerful.
Level 85: At level 85, the other half of the game starts and with the content patches, the majority of it. Once you reach 85, you want to do Normal Dungeons to get good items enough to do the dungeons on Heroic diffculity to then get ready for raiding. In Wrath of the Lich King, dungeons and even heroics were way to easy. You just pulled everything and used mass damage spells to kill everything. This is no longer possible in Cataclysm. While the normal dungeons are doable without crowd control, the heroics are not. I have no freaking idea how pick up groups of random players are going to complete heroics without some sort of communication on Skype or Ventrilo. On every single pull, you have to crowd control meaning that you make a monster passive for a while. All classes can crowd control now. Hunters Trap, Mages Polymorph and Rogues Sap et cetera. Seriously, Vanilla WoW is back but it is 10 times harder. Even with my RL friends, we still have not been able to kill all bosses and completed all heroics and trust me, we are experienced with this game. Personally, I think the new super hard diffculties is amazing but seeing it from another perspective it must be horrible for a new ´player who did not play before Wrath of the Lich King. Suddenly, there is a diffculty and there is strategy and tactics that you MUST follow or you die and take the entire group with you. People expect things of you and you must furfill those. I think all this is amazing but I can not only see this from the eyes of an experienced player. This is to hard for new players. Way to hard. Sometimes, I feel like raiding when I am doing a heroic. No, Icecrown Citadel 25man heroic was easier. The level 85 content gets 4.5 because honestly, I have not had this fun since vanilla WoW and the game is totally back on the right track but at the moment, it might be a bit to hard for WotLK babies.
Sound: Blizzard are kinda famous for their nice soundtracks and good voice acting. Music in WotLK was considered by the majority to be amazing and the voice acting... not so amazing. With us returning to the old world and the roots of the original WoW, the music has become better than ever. Zones such as Mulgore and Feralas are amazing and these are just no random tunes. These are actually from profesional orchestras and listening to these themes, you really get the feel and mindset of the race in that zone. When I hear the Mulgore theme, I instantly know that this is about the Tauren. When I go to Ashenvale, I instantly hear that it is a Night elven song about the war and battles there.
Voice acting has improved a lot and there is more of it than ever but seeing all these cut-scenes in the new zones without voice acting, is kinda a lame and that certainly brings it down from a 5/5. Blizzard once again proves that a good audio is vital to the atmosphere of the game so I give it a 4.5.
PvP: I must admit that I am not much of a PvPer myself and so far, I have mostly been focusing on the PvE aspect of the game. However, I did try all of the new PvP zones and i am not angry on Blizzard, but very disappointed. In Burning Crusade we got Eye of the Storm which was the old Warsong Gulch (capture the flag) mixed with Arathi Basin (capture bases) battlegrounds. Then we had WotLK which came with the new, dreaded vehicle-based battleground Strand of the Ancients. In a patch, we also got the Isle of Conquest which was basically Arathi Basin again mixed with ALterac Valley (kill the enemy general). In Cataclysm, you expected something completly new and cool when Blizzard said we would get 3 new PvP areas. 2 of them are battlegrounds and guess what? They remade the terrain in Warsong Gulch and Arathi Basin and renamed them to Twin peaks and Battle for Gilneas. They are exactly the same! In the achievement tab, you can nearly see how everything is copy pasted and got a new name! This is totally lame and ridiculous. Disappointed at WSG and AB 2.0, I went to Tol Barad - hoping that it was not just a new Wintegrasp which was a Defend the Keep type of Player Versus Player thing.
Fortuanly, it wasn't and Tol Barad proved to be enjoyable. The goal is to capture and hold three bases at the same time. If you have 2 out of 3 bases, you lose. To shorten the game, you also destroy 3 additional towers. I enjoyed Tol Barad and PvPing almost feels like PvE now with all new spells that are all like avoid the fire et cetera. Next to Tol Barad, there are also daily quests and imagine this on a PvP server. Yes, it is a constant battlefield. World PvP is back on the PvP servers and many quests actually encourage you to go ahead and kill other players.
The good things about Cata PvP are that Tol Barad is new and fun and I love the daily quest hub there plus that world PvP is back in the new zones! Bad things are that the two new BGs were hugely disapppointing and they were just recycled old battlegrounds. PvP gets a low score here, I only give Cata PvP 2.5/5 but perhaps it will get better as the PvP Seasons really start.
Overall: Overall Cataclysm is an amazing expansion that contains far more than an expansion must contain, in my opinion. Blizzard is generous enough to give half the game, level 1-60, for free and those zones are also amazing. The story is far better then the failed story in BC and in late WotLK and the best thing is that it is a coherent, epic story with a lot of cinematics/cut-scenes. The leveling flow is extremly smooth and I have never played another game where leveling is so enjoyable. Sound as amazing as it always is in Blizzard games and the dungeosn are even harder than they were in the original WoW. Negative things are that you MUST have a guild now or you miss out to much, dungeons may be way to hard, Blizzard were not creative with the battlegrounds and the Blizzard missed revamping three old zones (Silithus, Arathi and Dustwallow). Combining these scores and dividing them by six gives me the result below ->

But personally, I think it is 5/5 and the best expansion yet. xD But remember, I tried to not be a fanboy here so thats why it lost 20% points.
