Oh you took the time to talk to all of them, and they said they're japanese? Or they spoke japanese to you?

East asians.
Not like you can't usually make a "difference" by "how it sounds" but I'm curious if mvass is experienced in differentiating them (even if he doesn't understand a word, like me, except a few)

Ever seen japanese people? They actually radiate japaneseness. Seriously no way you can miss a japanese guy in a crowd (and damn you to hell if you mistake him for a chinese or korean! BIG difference)

Well I didn't know that Azagal so mvass may not as well. What I was thinking is that in Romania a *lot* of Chinese people came in the last years, and that's why maybe those that mvass' seen are Chinese, I think. Or maybe not.

It's not so much "knowing". Seriously you can feel it when you're standing next to them. I'm not kidding oO.
Oh and I'm pretty sure the language is a certain give away. Japanese sounds completely different from chinese (ouch horrible catastrophic language if you ask me) and korean.

Yes. And I'm saying you can tell without the language just by standing within a certain radius and seeing them. It's just that as soon as you hear them make any sound that you get the actual proof.

To a western ear like myself, I indeed find chinese very different, but unless someone speaks clearly and loudly enough (i.e as if they are talking to me), I have more trouble differentiating korean from japanese (or some of its dialects).
And you do know that "chinese" also has different dialects right?

I do. Doesn't change the fact however that it sounds completely different than japanese (no matter the dialect). And korean and japanese are also very different (not only to the trained ear). But seriously it doesn't really matter, all I'm saying is that's it's reallllllly easy to spot a japanese person no matter where he is. The more of them the easier to know their japanese (not rulling out that mvass could have made some mistakes).

You surely saw both of them.
There are more than 500 000 Chinese living in Paris and a lot of Japaneses tourists.
About arabs, we don't know their number as it is kept secret by police, but must be more than 1 million.
An Arab is always a French. Saying the opposite will head you in big trouble. They are French when begging for money help and suddenly turns into pure Muslims right after that.

How is "French", a "nationality", on the same frequency as "Muslim", a "religion"?
@Azagal: while I do agree with you I wouldn't label him as a racist. It's not like it doesn't go through the thought of any kid or someone not experienced in those languages at all. I mean seriously, just because you say that to you they sound exactly the same doesn't mean you're discriminating them, or that you tried to insult them or anything, maybe even laugh a bit.
However if it's Xerox, probably he really was racist

Yeah you're pretty much right... I tend to forget (more like my brain forces me to neglect it over the KILL HIM factor after reading his replies) that he's a kid... I'll try to be more ZEN.
