Quote: This is a bit amusing because if you think consequently about it you'll have to ban the Bible because that's what stand in it.

Quote: Lots of Bible quotes, Disciple, but what do you actually mean? Do you really propose to kill children, when they curse their parents? Kill people when they commit adultry? Kill gays for being so? Repay everything, eye for an eye, death for a death? If there is an accident and someone dies, do you want to kill the person responsible for the accident? How would all that killings make the world a better place? Seems to look more like a carnel house to me.
I think you don't understand the difference between the Old Covenant and the New Covenant.
Christians are under the New Covenant. Israel was under the Old Covenant which provided for punishment for sin by the Jews.
Christ never told the church to punish anyone for sin. If you disagree, please quote the verse where Jesus told his church to punish sinners. The only punishment Jesus allowed his disciples to do was to basicly excommunicate sinning believers who refused to repent.
Mat 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Oh, and as for accidents, people were not punished for accidental slayings in the Old Covenant. If they accidentally killed someone they could run to a city of refuge to await trial to see if the killing was really an accident.
Remember that Israel was a theocracy. That is why the Jews were told to punish sinners **in Israel**. The Jews did not go around the world looking for people to punish. If someone was living in Israel and broke the covenant all Israelites were required to keep they were punished according to what the Law dictated.
Jesus calls his followers to treat everyone with love.
Mat 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

I don't want to revive this unnecessarily, but just for the record, of course you read this one as well:
Quote: Answering post Jeez:
Disciple, you call yourself a Christian, but Christ taught something entirely different, didn't he? He taught about love and forgiveness. What about that? Not an eye for an eye, but turning the other cheek.
Answering post Disciple: He taught that indeed, but not for the authorities. He taught, that the Lord our God is his father and that his Word is true and be followed, and he taught US not to throw the first stone. Which means, that if we find an adultress we shall not go ahead and stone her, but instead go to the authorities leaving everything to them to enforce the law how they see fit. Or do you think it was a good idea if the authorities would turn the other cheek to be slapped?
It looks to me like you would misunderstand this. Disciple is anot asking the Church to do something, and Disciple isn't a historical disciple of Christ, but a hypothetical contemporary poster who's explaining why the world has gone morally bankrupt and what to do against it.
