damn! a quality point is needed for this one!

LOL one of the funniest threads ive read!

theres like 30 posts arguing about whether or not to attack a horse.  i love it.

and if thats not enough, then the "horse skills" idea was brought up!  just to think that someone was serious about that! LMAO

Try reading this thread at 12 oclock and you'll know what i mean.

Actually, I've been trying to restrain myself here.

However, the humor around the horses, and the more serious discussions about chests and elevation certainly deserve a look.

I can't understand why cant you choose experience or gold at chests in the sea, and it's also strange that you can find artifacts at those chests, I think that you can choose what you will get at those chests.

Maybe you can have 2 kinds of chests, the ordinary chests where you can choose experience or gold, and chests that are graded or have a dangerous trap on them, this chests will have a different color and you will find a rare artifact in them.

I like the second idea.. Perhaps if the hero's horse was a pegasus it would be hovering up above instead of on the ground.

For the treasure chests.. perhaps a random resource (not gold, but sulfur or mercury, etc..)? I just don't see the logic behind the chest releasing some level 1 units, or revealing part of the map or finding a war machine inside the chest.. It should be experience or something that can be stored inside. But if it's an artifact or something that you can't always find 100% it should not be available as an option.. Otherwise 20 chests can get you 20 artifacts.

The chest will be heavily guarded if it's a good artifact, and the chest won’t be heavily guarded if it's not such a good artifact.


And the chances of finding the artifact inside the chest wont be 100%, the chances will be about 35%.


And there be so many of those chests, there will be only 1 out of 5.

If the horse is, in fact, a Pegasus, then it has to just look that way. It can't allow the Hero to travel farther.

Why not if the hero is alone than why cant the pegasi fly the hero over a volcano, a forest, an ocean, that will be possible wouldn’t it, it will make sense don’t you think.

A fly spell is overall not a bad idea, as long as the spell is restricted to the caster only.

The spell could then be usable in combat giving the hero flying for the duration of the combat.

In heroes 3 if a hero has the Angel Wing's equipped, then why doesn't the AW give all creatures flying in combat also?

When it comes to the Angel Wing's I hope it's gone with the generic Fly spell.

However, when it comes to the Pegasi they may perhaps fit into the Hireling concept I suggested. I'll bring that topic back and suggest it there.

When it comes to the hero's horse then it should only benefit the hero and not the rest of the army. Also if they introduce horses, then they may significantly speed up travel when a hero travels alone (if the hero travels with other troops then they'll limit the speed.)

However, if horses are introduced then I believe they should have two animations on the adventure map. One for walking heroes and one for mounted heroes.

Mind you the Pegasus mount should be very difficult to get (at least if it gives the hero flying), or it will unbalance the game. This means the Pegasus will not be anything you can purchase in a town.

My thoughts(Now where's my penny:P)

Speaking of Adventure Map animations, I was just looking at the Jeff Blatter Movies, and saw an Angel moving around. It turns out, the Angel didn't walk across the AM - it flew! It did not, however, fly over trees and stuff. I was just a neat little thing I thought.

My idea about this horse thing is this: when you recruit a hero, he doesn't have a horse. So he walk slowly on adventuremap and fight on foot. Then in stables you can recruit animals to ride. Horses, camels, griffins, pegasies or even dragons. These animals would increase your hero's adventure movement and then your hero would fight on them.

And for those hilltop line of sight and movement bonuses/penalties, they must be included!
