I haven't played Tekken so i can't say which is better. I go for Street Fighter. Used to play it in arcade A LOT  and occasionally i used to play some flash versions of it.

I qess tekken is more my age, and my home town.. But you should try both tekken (5 DR) and soul calibur (IV)

I've only tried one of them, Tekken 5 to be precize, at a Friend's house.
Quite fun, since I simply owned him with Julia ^_^

Second, all my favourite characters were there; most notable being Gambit which I can't recall ever seeing in another game.
And some other stuff, like those cute, cartoony but still not ridiculous 2D graphics with those shiny special effects etcetera... The game just had a sporty feeling to it. Especially when I was younger.
By the way, why do you hate combining universes? It ruins the storyline? In fighting games?

No, it ruins the entire game's atmosphere, and you know that I like a fitting atmosphere in games

What MVass said. To me it can only make a fighting game's diversity and atmosphere better... I mean, heck, Soul Calibur contains Yoda and Darth Vader and it's one of the coolest fighting games around.
Oh and I totally forgot about Celebrity Deathmatch

Why some people forget he is vulnerable to magic (though many attacks weren't mage based ) and to cryptonite (Luthor's armor is cryptonite).

Yes, I remember something so, when sub-zero froze him IIRC. Maybe he can die from magic, but cmon people, I ROFLed when I saw superman dead because of two knifes in chest. Or from bullet in head.

Ok, I'll tell the developers to add Barbie dolls there as well, you know, diversity is good. Meanwhile I'll play something that makes sense and isn't hysterically ridiculous.

Of course, some guest characters (like Barbie, or Vader and Yoda in SCIV) don't really fit in. But Heihachi fit into SCII.
