Battleforge
Anyone else heard of or played this game?
Its actually nice with a slick interface and god concept but i'm not really liking it due to its supposed business plan and the instability of the servers... ofc that was only beta.
Battleforge
Its essentially the result of crossbreeding Real time strategy and Trading card games...
The cards can be placed into decks of about 20 and are deployed in game with a single universal resource of power. But one can also construct orbs which are similar to lands in magic the gathering.
It has a nice dynamic system and is one of the only Rts i have seen that has large scale PVE battles (up to 12 players)
however, it is a tcg so you will buy randomized packs. and probably will induce quite an unbalanced environment for some and cards can be upgraded, so it is possible to be paired up against a foe who is more powerful than you.
game has been released.

well i have played it and it is quite innovative but knowing ea i'd wait until it is reviewed... even more so because since it is completely online if you buy it and they can no longer support it you lose everything, game included... unless they do something. knowing ea i don't think they would...

And the Stunning conclusion? BF has lasted long enough to garner a sequel in which they decided that their next step is too put two colors onto the same card.
Also the game is now free.
For those of you who may have been interested you can play with two 'starter deck' on the variety of missions for no charge. extra cards cost money however.
If you want to see what battleforge is like This is your time.

I usually don't play those kind of games. I love TCG games, but the only online game I found where casual players are not getting slaughtered by the ones who payed for cards is Urban Rivals. Usually, if you're not willing to pay a lot of money on card packs you don't stand a chance.

You can always try to play with others who have just the starters... besides. its more like a trial to an mmo than anything else.
Plus making them pay for the game and then for the cards is kinda stupid.
Edit: be aware that the game may be downloadable but the download doesn't include the latest patches Which there are 3.4 gigs of.

play4free is the base game. renegade is just an expansion set of cards.
The game is free (maps, pvp, pve) but to purchase more cards you need to spend money.
its like a trial.
