oh yeah, modern tourneys is where it's at, that's definitely ,my type of sport.
unfortunately, same as reenacting, it's quite pricey(mostly the arms and armor), and also find a club with the least amount of bull in it, since the reenactor clubs also partake in these HEMA tourneys.
But HEMA rules. A warhammer would be my weapon of choice.
I'm more partial to halberds and poleaxes.
Are they even allowed? They can actually do some damage even when clad in armour.

I think most of the medieval weapons are capable of doing harm even when they're nerfed. If not lethal, at least on a "this isnt fun anymore" level. So, it's a matter of learning to use them with proportional force and avoiding certain moves.

Actually, sparring with sharp swords is perfectly safe when wearing armour, even a good old suit of mail or padded jackets are going to protect you from cuts. That's why you usually see HEMA practitioners use swords. Blunt weapons on the other hand can be pretty dangerous.
I've seen polearm users in the Battle of Nations, so there is a way to use them "safely" apparently.
One thing is for sure, it's pretty hard to bleed out at least.

I would say 4-5 for a public open swimming pool, but privates one can be heated so you can use all the year. However it is expensive, depending on size.
