This place so needs a facepalm smiley...
In here they just give the keys and send you straight to streets. After a certain amount of lessons(also theory) you just do a theory test and a driving test that's always passed unless you mess something up. (Not some stupid reasons like most of you guys had)
Then here's the second part(6-24months after) what I'm doing now where they just see how you've developed. No fuss, easy pickings.

So you cant make even one mistake ? In Poland after two mistakes of same type youre wiped out. Ofc you have some mistakes which guarantee you an instant wipe out (passing the red/orange light, not letting the pedestrian pass the zebra and tons of other). Those exams are so darn difficult yet we still have very high place when it comes to road accidents.

How does the maneveut phase looks in Bulgaria and Japan ? We have lights/mask at the beginning then starting the engine. After that you have to make the arc driving maneuver((forward->turning right into marked field then going back)I screwed it T_T) after that starting the car when stopping on a hill and if you manage to complete them you can have the city part.
Well in Bulgaria we first have theory test, if you pass it you can go to practice test (driving of course lol!). On the practise there is no rule that you have to start with lights or to check screen wipers, the examinator may ask you everything, he may start with lights as well, but he may ask you to check the oil or the engine or the accumulator... or where are the airbags... I know some guys that didn't passed because he asked them to tell more about the engine and the accumulator, sux when happens...
On the road when you drive he is marking penal points for different small mistakes (if you drive close to others, this is 2 points -0 if it's too close you are immediately stopped -, if you forget to look at the mirror in turn, this is a point or 2, can't remember, and stepping on marking on the road, where you should not be s 3 points...) if you get 9 you're out... if you keep doing one mistake 2 (or 3 can't remember) times, you are out as well. There are some mistakes that are going to stop your exam immediately like the not stoping on STOP, or the red light, if you forget for the belt, if the examinator step on any of the pedals instead of you (or catch the wheel) and etc... you know them... ̉here was some king of program like, you have to do x left turns, x rights, x turn backs, passing x times on STOP and x times on traffic lights and etc... but I can't remember how many...
It also depents on the examinators mood

You really keep destroying almost every respetc to Sweden I ever had.... IS this allowed there? Your mom to give you driving course? She is an ordinary driver, not trained instructor... and her car is not with pedals on the 2 sides... how is she able to stop you if needed? And... the law allow this? In Bulgaria you HAVE TO visit a driving school before the exams, the law wants it from you, or you're just not allowed to go in... Sweden is crazy place... you're kidding right?

Yes and no. I don't have a license, but i am allowed to "train"(driving under supervision of somebody who have had the license for 5 years), which in practise is just plain driving with somebody experienced next to you.

If the laws on the subject is similar enogh from Norway to Sweden
2 things:
*Over 5 years experience
*Handbrakes
Also:
*There is some minor lessons that you must go to before, over here it was 4 theoretical lessons
*And remember, the one on the other side of a car can always manage to grab the stearing wheel
*And if you can ride a bike, you can drive a car. Atleast you got the worst basics down

I don't think that you can compare car with a bike... if you crush with a bike most of the times you can't kill anyone, and you don't need the sighs with a bike... it's much different... And how you can get "5 years experience" without your licence? You can drive with no licence there? And you can drive automobile on 16?

Ummm...you DO need the signs with a bike if driving on roads...
@Arcax: Yes, one breaking of the traffic law is fail. But we don't have things like driving too slow(lol wtf?) as a failing factor. Most fails come from driving through reds. Almost lied here, there is the possibility of failing if you don't look back when you switch lanes.

Is allowed in Finland too. You just get another break pedal and get a license to teach private from police station.

You can, both are allows you to move faster than if you walked. Both of them got their problems and ways of being used. Over here we never do signs with cars either, so......
.......... I think your reading wrong, the supervisor need those 5 years. If you have droven your car for 5 years, i think that person can drive and se whats going on. And you need that supervisor, otherwise its illegal. Also you need a small note which gives away the fact that "legal to drive with supervisor" fact. And there is a huge red L on the back of the car.
So yes, we drive from the age of 16.

Oh come on.... and you have a gear-lever on your bike too? It's diesel or benzine bike?
Quote: Is allowed in Finland too. You just get another break pedal and get a license to teach private from police station.
And you don't need any experience? Like few yeas + exams for instructor, visiting school for instructors and few additional courses in pedagogics? As I know that the way of beening instructor in Bulgaria... it's that easy there? You need only your license? And we are talking for his mother lol she is going to do all this just to teach him?
Quote: 16
In Bulgaria you need 18 and also certificate that you finished 8 grade at school. You need it there? I'm just interested if it's really that easy

I never learned from an instructor. I just got my permit when I was 16 then took to the test months later. That's how most of my peers did it as well. Although I imagine if you lived in the inner city, learning from an instructor would be much more common.
Learning to drive varies in the U.S. depending on the state. I think in some western states you can get your permit at 14 (there's not a whole lot to crash into), while I think in New York state you need to be 18.

Then be happy that you dont have to spent ~ 300 euros on going for some irrevelant course which gives you, besides of paper which "proves" you can drive, nothing; because all the vital knowledge you have to obtain from books.

I would like to hear you saying that after cycling for 5 hours up the hill with, lets say, 30 kg luggage...

No, you don't.
Just a driving license, and a license to teach, which is basically a test that you remember all the theory correct so you can teach it to someone.

in france you can do minor and major mistakes.
one major mistake ==> you are out
two minor mistakes ==> you are out
note : the examinator don't stop you, he lets you drive until the end of the 35 min, and then he tells you how much you sucked and that you would be a very dangerous driver
Quote: But we don't have things like driving too slow(lol wtf?)
one rule at the french exam is driving as fast as you can without going over the speed limit, nor scaring the examinator. and you must take into account that the rules are retarded sometimes. for example, there are areas limited to 90 km/h but if you drive that fast, you're likely to crash in something lol
(that's the reason why I failed the 2nd exam btw, but actually I wasn't at the max speed, I was a bit fast, but I could handle it)
there was something funny, I had 3 teachers, one of them kept telling me I was sluggish, another one kept telling I drove too fast. hum yeah, what am I supposed to do exactly?
