Paulemile, your story fits well with the layout, and it is not a mess, looks nice. However, if the purpose was only making unique layouts without worry about playability, there would not be a problem. I guess one can't move a square in your map, is it true?

The difficulty is to create interesting areas while still keeping a minimum of passability. If we can't move, the map will never be played, thus your work is not appreciated.

Now, that Angelito pointed out in other thread, I came to the conclusion the roads must be part of the game play. Not only showing to the player there is a way, but also for contrasting with stuffed areas. If there is not visible path, the closed areas will be confusing.

This is where I don't get it. Your ERM help is different. If the patch (which I have ) installs new rock defs., why your ERM got updated?

there was no update (or at least i didn't notice) the subtype is simply frame number in def. try it yourself

Well, I actually wanted to create a non-playable map, as stated in your topic "the power in mapmaking"...
Thank you for the review anyway, you are right, press ctrl+p and you see only several passable squares

Rendering that kind of stuff playable means you create a real map, not only a layout, this is something different, and needs much more work

@Mamgaeater : you can change the passability of every single object, creature, town... etc with the "wogeditpatch". It is available here in this forum, but don't ask me where, I installed it two years ago

There are still frightening problems sometimes, like this one for example : I put a desert corpse somewhere in the map and it caused an acces violation asking me to save the file and close the program. The map has been corrupted though, and each time I loaded it, I got the same message. But you can click on the cancel button and still work on the map. The box appears each time you want to scroll though.
I managed to "heal" the map when i found that destryoed the file : the corpse, for no reason turned all campfires to shields of the rampaging ogre with "nothing" as a description. I deleted the corpse and those strange shields, and the map was working again

i'd rather avoid losing maps...
i suppose i will work with the limitations of not being able to stack.

I second that: Sergroj editor never cause any crash, while advanced properties editor is 100% buggy.
