@Kip
I'm not into WAR anymore (got bored again and need cash in the same time; a killer combination for MMOs), so I guess he's floating around somewhere in the universe between the servers, never to be seen again.

He was awkward anyway.

Edited by xerox at 03:43, 03 Oct 2009.

My first impressions (copied from my user on scrollsoflore)

Im on the test server.

Here are my impressions:

Nothing new in Orgrimmar. Thrall is still Warchief. For now.

Then I went to UC.
All guards are replaced and there is some dialogue.
I saw a Dark Ranger named Cintya or something. She just walked around.

Then I went to do the Pit of Saron. It was bugged like hell so we only managed to do the "first" boss (its non-linear).
I think that it will be great when it comes out. Good size and you get to see some old Scholomance mobs

Its basically a huge Saronite quarry. You can see Gargoyles transporting Saronite etc. You free Horde slaves but I dont know for what purpose. It will probably be implented later. Sylvanas is there in the begining. In the opening event she comes with "Coliseum Champions". They charge against the last boss (that shows up in the begining and then flies around the instance)
There is a long cave leading to the last boss (a Frost Wyrm and Tyrannus) so I asume some trash is missing. No loot.

The first boss was easy. Garfrost is a huge Flesh giant carrying Saronite on his back. He stands at some runeforges.
Tank and spank fight and he throws some Saronite blocks that you need to avoid. But we were obviously overgeared.
Also in the opening event the boss one-shots the Champion legion and they get rezzed as skeletons.
You can probably skip a lot of the trash. The leper gnome is riding a Plague Spreader.
I think it will be great But as I said, its bugged as hell. We DCed every 5 minutes. Some mobs seemed to trigger DCs and then the whole instance would reset... its not ready for testing.

Then I looked at Thunder Bluff and Baine was still there. And then to Silvermoon and Quel'danas. No changes.
But this is the first build so more things will probably come.

Also the Argent Tournament has been expanded with some towers. You cant access them. The entrance to the 5-man is on the western rampart. All three instance portals are there. Its not a huge instance. Its like Scarlet Monastery.

Also I made a Belf Rogue just to see how the health regenration was etc. Health regenrates a lot faster and I was 3-shooting mobs lol.

edit: I did the whole new 5-man instance. You really get to be a part of the storyline when you team up with Sylvanas (or Jaina for Alliance)!

Right. So I just did a complete run on Pit of Saron HEROIC. We only had like one person that had premade gear. I am in TotC10/25/Ulduar25 gear. We were only slightly overgeared so this wont be a heroic for beginers.
´
This time it didnt bug 24/7. Incomming some minor storyline spoilers too.

First I have to say that I really really enjoyed this instance. It has a good length. Around 15-20 min (without wipes) and interactive story progression.

When you enter the instance portal you are ported to some quarry place with a huge Saronite pit in it. You can see Gargoyles transporting Saronite. And there are lots of Horde slaves everywhere.
It is here that the Scourge produces the most Saronite ore and several Gargoyles etc. It looks like the Saronite Quarry and it seems like its located between the Wrathgate and the Citadel because you can see a huge wall in the distance.

The instance is non-linear. You can probably go for the last boss first if you want too, but that wouldnt be very effective. The outdoor instance area surroands the Pit and then there is a cave in the mountains that leads to the platform where Lord Tyranussus is.

First there is an opening event. Sylvanas comes in with two Dark Rangers and a Horde general/commander. Coliseum Champions charge into the two first mobs (Necromancers) with the last boss flying on a Frost Wyrm above during most of the instance.
They get raised to the sky and dropped down. They die and get mass raised as Skeletons. Sylvanas and her Dark Rangers do some dark magic burst and some arrow barrage and kills them.
Sylvanas doesnt help you from here but she says that you must free the Horde slaves working in the Pit (they are everywhere, mining Saronite ore, one orc lady said "Take my children!" or something like that...) and revolt against the Scourgelord.

The trash in the begining are mostly Necromancers and some of those Elf necromancers from Scholomance. You also encounter some Bone Giants that watch over the slaves. And an Yminjar elite warrior riding on that Ice-Blood Proto Drake. They do a simple AoE attack you must avoid.

We did the Flesh Giant Garfrost first. He carries a Saronite block on his back. The fight is simple. You first kill the adds he comes with and then its pretty much tank and spank. Avoid the Saronite Blocks he throws on you or you will get smashed. He will do some Runeforge thing too and some Deep Freeze but I didnt see any special effects on that (except a damage increase).

Then you move down a ledge and suddenly you get ambushed by Geists comming out of nowhere! You kill them and then move on the Leper Gnomes little laboratory. Plague Spreaders are guarding it. They have an ability called "Blight Explosion" or something.
It leaves a simple poison cloud that you need to avoid. They seem to carry around with body parts.

From what I have heard, the boss (Ick and Trick or whatever they are called) have random abilities each time. When we did ít, he just spawned Poison clouds and did a Poison nova once. But apparently he can do lots of mines too.

You dont kill the Leper Gnome though. Sylvanas comes and the Leper Gnome begs for mercy. He says that Arthas is keeping Frostmourne and "Frostmournes secret" within the Halls of Reflection. Sylvanas thinks its nonsense. "Arthas never lets Frostmourne get out of his sight".
Then she does some dark magic thing that kills the Gnome. No mercy and yet she has a british barbie voice. -.-

She then walks over to the place where the freed Horde slaves have gathered and where that Horde General is. But they dont speak with each other. You walk up a ramp that leads to a cave. There you fight some mobs. Mostly Frost Vrykul and some Vargul that do Hellfire AoE when they are low on health.
Also there are some Skeleton Warriors (big northrend skeletons) with FROSTWRAITHS! Finally ;D
They should be Kill Priorty number one because they spam frostbolt.

After that you get into a came. And it becomes like a gauntlet mixed with the Hodir fight. The tunnel caves in (because the Scourgelord uses his Frost Wyrm to crush it) and you need to avoid the falling ice blocks while killing mobs at the same time. Halfway through there is a Saronite platform where you can kill off the mobs in peace.
In the end lots of Undead mobs comes but your little rescued Slave army comes and kills them. The slave army, the Horde commanders, Sylvanas and her Dark Rangers gathers before the last boss.

Scourgelord Tyrannus is the hardest fight. We wiped once.
He will dismount and you nuke him.
You stay at the order side of the platform so that the Scourge mobs dont aggro you and get AoEd down by the NPCs instead.
He will do a debuff which converts damage dealt to health. So people with the debuff will have to stop dps the boss.
His Frost Wyrm is the main threat. The Frost Wyrm will focus on a random member and then that member need to move quickly. For the Frost Wyrm will strike down with piercing ice, dealing a lot of damage.

After the fight is over, the Frost Wyrm flies away I think (didnt see). But an even greater Frost Wyrm approaches.
As the Orc general is about to celebrate victory, Sindragosa appears! <Queen of the Frostbrood>

The event was bugged but when I reentered, everyone except Sylvanas and her Dark Rangers had died. Sylvanas seemed happy about their death. She says that they were in the way for her mission and that she thought that the Orc general would never stop talking or something like that...

Anyway, from what I have heard Sindragosa comes and kills everybody but Sylvanas helps you. Then she says something about that the Halls of Reflection is the next step.

I really enjoyed the instance. Good size and good length. Non-linear but a bit boring boss fights (most are tank and spank and "watch out for X, watch out for Y, watch out for Z"). You really get to be a part of the storyline and Sylvanas doesnt seem to want to be the Hordes little snow as she pretty much laughs when the Horde general dies.

Im already waiting for Halls of Reflection and the Forge of Souls

Tomorrow I will upload all the screenshots.
Im a bit tired now. When I began writing this the clock was 03:16

Blizzard will never ever completly change the games graphical engine (maybe in WoW 2).

Since Cataclysm is basically a free expansion (you only pay for some new features and the new zones) and is set on Azeroth, you wont see "beautiful" zones like those in Wrath of the Lich King everywhere.

However they will update some stuff.
In WotLK, Shadows were added to make the game look more realistic. And in Cataclysm they will change ALL water to make it look more realistic and its beautiful but it looks like goo lol.

What a shame

The engine is getting really ugly imo .. and no reason having an awesome computer if the games are ugly

And I have suddenly gotten that urge to play again.. dammit!

The Fall of the Lich King is soon at hand.

ICECROWN CITADEL PREVIEW
http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/underdev/3p3/icecrown-raid.xml

Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Throne

All across the lands of Northrend, many battles have been fought against the vile Scourge. Countless lives have been lost since the Alliance and Horde first reached the frozen wastes, but the champions of Azeroth continue to march forward. Now Icecrown Citadel, the cornerstone of the Scourge's power and the home base of the Lich King, is their final target. Tirion Fordring and the Argent Crusade have forged an alliance with Darion Mograine and the Knights of the Ebon Blade to form the Ashen Verdict. The strongest combatants of this coalition, along with the champions of the Alliance and Horde, will lead the charge against the citadel.

This dungeon reveals the culminating story events and battles of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack. Join the legendary heroes Highlord Tirion Fordring, High Overlord Saurfang, Muradin Bronzebeard, Highlord Darion Mograine, and King Varian Wrynn in an epic battle against the Scourge and their master. Icecrown Citadel features 10- and 25-player versions of the raid dungeon, and each version has 12 encounters. Each encounter can be fought in either normal or Heroic mode, and players can use a new user interface feature to toggle easily between difficulties. The rewards in the raid dungeon start at item level 251 in the normal mode with 10-player encounters, increase to item level 264 in the Heroic mode mode with 10 players and the normal mode with 25-player encounters, and then finally reach item level 277 in the Heroic mode with 25 players.

Grand Entrance of the Citadel

After breaching the fortress, players will face a legion of undead guards directed to repel any invaders. Commanding the defenders is Lord Marrowgar, a monstrosity fused together from the bones of the undead. Supreme Overseer of the Cult of the Damned, Lady Deathwhisper is the next opponent. She bolsters the faith of her followers by promising them the opportunity to give eternal service in undeath.

As they continue their ascent, the Alliance and Horde heroes ultimately end up outside of the citadel where their hatred for one another erupts into a battle for dominance over the Rampart of Skulls. Players will join in battle alongside High Overlord Saurfang on the Orgrim's Hammer gunship or Muradin Bronzebeard on The Skybreaker in a unique encounter. Each faction will protect its gunship and try to destroy the other one in a back-and-forth battle to see who is truly worthy of facing the Lich King.

The Lich King's most powerful death knight then stands as the final obstacle for the heroes to enter the upper reaches of the citadel. The Wings of Icecrown Citadel
After the heroes of the Alliance or Horde defeat the other faction on the gunships and wipe out the creatures near the entrance, players will venture into an area with three separate wings. Here they will face a multitude of terrors that must be vanquished in order to confront the Lich King.

In the Frostwing Halls players will battle alongside the Ashen Verdict and push into the lair of the deadly frost wyrm Sindragosa, who continues to strengthen her brood with the help of Ymirheim's vrykul. Along the way, the heroes will stumble upon Valithria Dreamwalker, a captured green dragon whom the Scourge is using as a test subject for their own ends....

The Plagueworks contains the most twisted experiments ever produced by the Scourge. In this wing players will face two new forms of abomination in Festergut and Rotface, who currently protect their devious creator, Professor Putricide.

The Crimson Hall contains the leaders of the San'layn, undead blood elves who oversee the Scourge's operations throughout Azeroth. The blood-princes Valanar, Keleseth, and Taldaram were raised into undeath by the Lich King to avenge themselves while protecting their blood-queen, Lana'thel.

The Frozen Throne
After clearing all three wings, players will ascend to the Frozen Throne, where the Lich King and his runeblade, Frostmourne, await to deliver them to their deaths....

edit: Also to those saying WoW ruins lore (you have no idea what you're talking about). Read the last page on this thread were a reader came and QQed about that subject.
Scrolls of Lore is a forum dedicated to the Warcraft lore. Mostly in WoW, since there wont ever be a Warcraft 4 in the near future. So you lose.

While i like blizzard games in general, i don't like their mass resurrecting of every single past hero or villain.

Muradin is back in next patch, and even Cho'gall on the way. Writers are becoming too attached to their characters it seems. They should let them go and create new ones.

Other than that, new patch looks nice, only problem is, clearing it (lore wise, not interested in gearing up) takes 1-2 days, and you still gotta pay for at least 1 month .

I agree.
Cho'galls ressurection was okay because it was never clear if he survived or not. But Muradins ressurection was just lame. -.-
It makes Arthas and Frostmourne look weak. It turns out that Muradin just got a headache in the Frostmourne Cavern and was then found by "Frost Dwarves". I didnt like Mal'ganis ressurection either (no Dreadlord seems to stay alive...).

Anyway. New build for the PTR. I will upload some screenshots and my impression on the new 5-man (three new 5-mans in one patch) - the Forge of Souls.

Also lorewise, 3.3 is much bigger then and unfortuanly (for some people) most lore and the Lich Kings downfall will happen within the raid. Its also speculated that there will be a month long Elemental Invasion before Cataclysm.
