I have to agree with Kegolo on that one, there wouldnt be much point of making the mod then.

Actually, the point is to create Heroes 2 in Heroes 3. As in, creating the Heroes 2 theme in Heroes 3. But of course, if you want every unit to have an upgrade, consistency is the key. Slapping on a third upgrade for the Dragon is inconsistent if you're not going to follow suit with the other Heroes 2 themes.
Perhaps Kegolo doesn't understand what makes a 'worst' suggestion, but I might suggest the worst suggestion is to say that Dragons should have 2 upgrades while disregarding the way upgrades functioned in Heroes 2 for every other unit.
Also, another point of the mod is to add in extra towns in the HoMM 2 theme, which is very entertaining.
So when you say 'there wouldn't be much point in making the mod if there wasn't an upgrade for every unit', you are talking out of your posterior.

I would say we are not completely following either H2 or H3 style for the most part. Everything is mixed. But everyone has agreed that this mod is not H2 on the H3 engine, but rather all the stuff people love from H2 together with all they love from H3. That means bring the best of both worlds, not limit either.
So having 2 upgrades for dragons was cool in H2, so it's in. Having an upgrade for every creature was cool in H3, so that's in too. 3 new towns sound cool, so that's in. Basically trying to make it the best and most fun. Sadly, if you were looking for H2 with just 1 new feature, like 3 new towns, or all creatures have one upgrade, this isn't the mod for you.
I suggest you make a mod yourself if you would like something like that.
Also making that dragon tower work right has taken 300+ lines of code, so I'm not throwing that away to please one person

If you add the best of each game, why not make heroes in the battlefield and make it so that creatures can walk on adventure map alone
No but seriously, that dragon's second upgrade is awesome, thank you Kegolo for the hard work .
I haven't said anything about this mod here on HC, and decided to leave my opinions here now that I have time. In one hand, Heroes 2 has the best graphics and interface of all the games. It's just so damn beautiful. And on the other hand, the game mechanics, skills, battle, maps, creatures, etc. are superior in Heroes 3. This is exactly why the Succession Wars mod is the single greatest mod ever for me. All the stuff you guys have done is simply stunning. There is no word to express the awesomeness of the mod. So thank you, again, for everything you've done so far!

other than following this before these new authors took the project over because the original kalu was too busy to continue it? right
and nah i don't mean throw it away, it's cool to have the third upgrade feature, and i do see what you're aiming at. perhaps to put the code to better use, it could have some implementation for a few other units outside just that one? food for thought, would require some extra sprites (probably mostly recolours, but still), but at least you'd get some more use out of it aaand it could add some more to gameplay.
which would also bring about the HoMM2 atmosphere of discontinuity throughout the races (i.e. in HoMM2 Knights had the most upgrades and Warlock had the least, as we all know), adding in more rather than making it less.

Actually Kivo's only posterior dedicated hundred of hours to make the mod while you just 2 minutes to make your post. So if you don't mind, would be nice to respect authors wishes, give suggestions if any, but restrain from such childish comments.

already did give suggestions, which was met with 'that's the stupidest thing in this thread'

He said "worst", not most stupid, which is different. There is no possible mod to please everyone, thus if a suggestion does not convince authors, there is no point to continue argue, IMO. Even less to start a fight.

doesn't matter, insulting tone instigates such reactions anyway, yet you choose to pinpoint my more than reasonable reaction (reasonable given the circumstances) as being 'childish', and indirectly dismiss my points by saying that i 'could' put suggestions and that i only spent 2 minutes to make my post.

Don't worry, half the people that post here have suggestions. I would say Kivo and I don't really listen to any, but hear them. And we have a vision for this mod, and your suggestion was not part of that vision. Far from it. That is all.

As far as I know, no modder cares about suggestions before mod is out, that's the spirit. Considering that every suggestion can take hundred of hours to code, no mod would be released, ever. It is wiser to update balance after release, from in-game play reports.

not the most difficult thing in the world to put it like that in the first place

I listen to most of the suggestions which are posted around the forums. Some however are really out of place. Just giving an example: Why not make an Angel as a lvl7 in the Knight Castle? - Im not trying to insult anyone but for most people this is self explanatory. I takes a long time to make a sprite. I spend hours making the interfaces, making new sprites, improving some, making buildings and so on, meantime learning how to do everything faster. I wouldnt do anything for this mod if for fun I wouldnt try out making some random designs HoMM2 style like a Skeleton Spearman for example. Thats where it all started.
Back to the topic. Just like Kegolo said the mod is kind of a mix of the 'features' that are liked by most players. Im respecting every suggestion but unfortunately as I said some are really out of place. So really, dont be insulted, sorry but thats how it goes.

Uhh what would you like to know? Kivo's on holiday so graphics are stopped for a little while. The 7 made teams are being balanced, polished and debugged. Changelog of v0.7:
-Custom maps can now support heroes with unique creatures as long as that hero isn't in or 1 map square below a town.
-Warlock dragon tower now have green, red and black dragons, and (hopefully) works correctly (much testing needed)
-Air Earth Fire and Water Elementals are now in the game
-Summon E A F W Elemental spells now summon correct creatures
-Fixed errors with hero specialties
-Fixed H2 combat, speed now works if more than one flier is the fastest creature
-Added Kobolt Shot sound
-Fixed nomad/invader defs being switched
-nomads do not appear on the water, now correctly water elementals
-maps folder now contains currently developed H2 maps (and some test maps)
-map rule "rogues attack heroes randomly" fixed (no longer red dragons)
-menu now displays correct creatures on each team
-all creatures not in the game (wog+others) will not randomly appear on maps
-various stats changes, building cost changes

As Kegolo said graphics are stopped for now as Im on holiday. However as I just came to my home in another country, I have a PC but its ****. Thefore I cant use programs which let me do graphics for the mod. I have basic programs though which means I can do something. This is a 4-5 hours of work, its a part of a Knight Castle townscreen. I had this idea long ago so I decided as I cant do much I can maybe start to see myself if this can work.
- The idea is to have the landscape more far away in the distance and the buildings to be smaller.
- The creature dwellings o be in a group ( so for example not one Peasant Hut but few )
- When you build a Citadel/Castle also walls build around the area.
- Some dwellings also have creatures next to it.
So in the future when everything is finished I could start making new Townscreens. Now I have time and I cant use any good programs anyway I can develop my idea.
This is a part that I just started making, of course shading needs improving, more detail and backgrounds with clouds and mountains need to be put it.
So what do you think if the Townscreens would be more like this sort of style? Would be great to see responses even if its still not much done.

To be honest I like the original town screens sorry . Might be best just to focus on the fortress/inferno screen.
I do have one comment. The gypsy background is very bright. Like hurts your eyes bright. Maybe make the sand a little darker or something?

IMO that screen looks really nice
I'd like, for sure, to have new screens as some sort of optional add-on, but as Kegolo said, ATM you should focus on the not yet finished town screens , and I completely agree about the gypsy background.

Hey gnollking you said you extracted every graphic from H2 a while back, and put it in the map editor. Wanna upload that to save us some time?
