Yes, but the power is to serve the country, not vice versa. The book tells you how to be a good prince to help you keep your country strong, not to keep you feeding off it.

I also decided that I just stuck too much to the philosophy and didn't create a character, while doing so. If I stray from what stoicism stands for... Well, you cn always point it out, but I probably stopped caring for it at that point

Talked to dagoth and my Philosopher is finnished:
Name: Char
Age: 34
Sex: Male
Philosophical title: Machiavellist
Philosophical abilities:
"The end justifies the means" - The user can kill other Philosophers and steal their powers. He cannot evolve these powers however.
"Princeps aura"("First Man/Emperor's Aura") - The soldiers serving the user of this skill has no fear
"Masked deciver" - Ability to completely change ones apperance. Cannot however, change gender or species.
Other abilities:
Politically Experienced - +X to silver tounge skill!
Nobility - Has a private army of redshirts.
Rapier/Sword Skill - Good in the use of the sword and especially the rapier(not as good as a sword master however)
Medium armor - Wears medium armor, like chain with somewhat plating. You know, the common nobility armor.
Alignment: Wannabe-Lawful Neutral. In other words, wannabe the law.

Joke aside; Dagoth told me about something called the "Paltonic republic" which you guys decided I was gonna be a general of. And that my current objective is to chase down Woock's character. Is that true(not that I doubt dagoth but..)? ohh, and why should I do that again? I am sorry but I just forgot what kinda of papers Woock's character had that was so important.

Well, the story obviously needs some sort of conflict to develop properly.
In Xenostenes's conversation with Marcus, Xeno tossed a loose comment about the Platonic Republic getting out of hand.
While talking do Dagoth, I had an idea for a past event that might help define the conflict to drive the story.
I took two historical facts:
a) the Pythagorean theory of numbers as the basis of all existence is seen by some as a form of pre-atomism.
b) Plato hated Democritus (who was taught by Leukippos, generally accepted as the inventor of atomism) greatly, to the point of wanting to burn all of his works in a fit of rage. Luckily, his students persuaded him to abandon the notion. Our rp doesn't have to follow this bit though.
So the idea is that the Platonic Republic raided the Pythagorean Order (a minding-our-own-business scientific and religious group), knowing that they are in possession of the last remaining works of Democritus. The place gets trashed completely.
Xenostenes knows all of this because he was there (actual reason for his presence not yet decided). Out of curiosity, he decides to sneak out with some of the papers and currently resides at Marcus's place. The Platonic Republic eventually finds out.
A machiavellian character could be a good ruler of the Republic, posing as a platonist "for the good of the state".
So yeah, that's more or less what I had in mind.
It's okay to mention Plato and Democritus as historical background, right?
(Am I stuffing this with too many references to real-world philosophy?)

One of the leaders as opposed to absolute ruler would actually be more accurate in regard to Plato's "Republic", so I'm all for that
