Poll Question:
pre-ICTC: Vote for Dividing Contest
Only judges and those intending to participate vote please.
Would you like to:
A) Split ICTC so that there is one competition for faction makeovers, and one competition for unique factions.
B) Keep it as one competition.
Please make a post confirming your vote.

Vote for keeping it as one competition.
My reason being that many factions are faction makeovers already, and with it being the 5th year, we're not expected to have as large of a turnout like in the earlier ICTCs, so it's best to keep it as one competition rather than split it within an already depleted amount of posters.

Keeping it together isn't a logical choice imo.
There is a huge difference in designing a town and building off of another town.
plus the criteria are different. and if you have separate criteria then you might as well have seperate contests.

Keep it as one but only the one considered by judges as the best faction of a member can compete.
Does designing a faction mean that we should base on the HV game? I mean imagination doesnt have limits and ideas could involve also a gameplay redesign, someone should state if this is possible or not.

it is possible but hard to pull off.
It means that both your gameplay mechanics and your faction have to be sound
But the judges may be more lenient with points given the effort and a shiny qp is a likely reward for doing it right.

Keep it together. Too much micromanagement otherwise, and the competition only grows really fun when there are lots of entries - two small competitions << one big one.

It is the Internation Create a Town Contest. The object is to..create an entire town. In this case it would be for H5..(and h6 when it comes out).

We should have another vote on whether the subject should be a faction for Heroes 5 or Heroes 6. Both haev interesting aspects and weak points.

See that is basically my thought.
1) If somebody is not going to participate in one of the competitions..making it one will not change that.
2) I wanted to add some zest to the competition.
3) It is not like that for the 'original' competition that 'revamped' towns would not be accepted..so somebody could enter one town in both..
4) A few people did give positive responses when I mentioned the new aspect.
Oh well..from the looks of the poll, looks like we are going with one only.

So... what if I create an undead faction in the "new-faction" competition? Where does the line between remake and new go?
Is it just the name? Or do I have to keep a certain % of the original lineup? What if I make a necropolis without necromancy and a new racial instead? Will that still be counted as a remake?

The remake does have certain 'rules'..for instance going with the original 'theme'. Like having 'humans' for Haven. Keeping a good portion of the skills (but not neccessarily all), etc. However, yes changing the 'racial' skill would not disqualify you. Having Necropolipse as having all underwater 'living' creatures would however.

I don't get this argument?
If 5 people want to contribute with new factions, and 5 people want to contribute with factions they did elsewhere, you'll have two competitions with only 5 entries each, or one with 10 entries, if you don't split them?
