The more the pairs - the lesser advantage for second striker. With eleven pairs I think there is almost no advantage if you use the scheme 1-4-4-1. First striker removes 1 pair ,second removes 4 at once ,which gives a good hint to the first what he doesnt want to play ,then first removes 4 at once ,deciding which 2 pairs should remain and second chooses the final pair.

I think the advantage lies with the luckier with pairs ... 2nd striker only has the possibility to choose the taste of the game, but not the luck itself .

5 pair is ok. otherwise- with more pairs, is very close to choosing. no need to eliminate all luck/fate of it
